Amazing spot with everything you need. Site has been set up beautifully and was perfect for our two small kids. Toilet and shower was such a luxury. Will be back again for sure.

Great grassy spot with excellent facilities. Despite being really bad weather, having a little shed with camp kitchen and toilet was a saviour. Bruce has done excellent job to provide this without ruining the vibe of canping. We enjoyed the expansive views of the unusual volcanic lake with a lovely flat grassy area for the tent. In warmer times exploring the lake with the provided canoes and boats would be excellent...next time for us!

This is a great site for easy camping. It is very private and has a lovely outlook. There is no shade but as long as you bring along your own shade tents etc this is not an issue. Host is responsive and unobtrusive. Highly recommend.

Amazing place. Fenced off large area with maintained grass and flat areas. Shack has amenities including a bar fridge!
Shame we only stayed for one night. Will be coming back in future!

Fantastic location by the lake. We had a couple of days with great weather and were able to have a swim as well as use the dinghy. Our dogs lived the space to run around and were entertained watching the cows.
Bruce was so kind to check in on us when the weather turned bad and asked if we needed anything when we arrived. A hot shower and the kayaks/boat/canoe make this place extra special. We look forward to returning.

If you’re looking for a chill place to stay with your doggie friend, especially if your dog loves water and grass, this is one of the best places you can find in Victoria. It’s great that there’s a small lodge where you can store your camping gear, so you don’t have to worry about the night dew. Also don’t waste your car space bringing a kayak or paddle board because they already provide them. They even have a small fridge/freezer and the toilet facilities are well maintained. The best part is that each booking is private. It’s just your group on the property with no other groups at the same time. I almost don’t want to recommend this place because I’m afraid next time I’ll have to book a year in advance just to get a spot!

Amazing site, very well maintained by Bruce and his family. Floating in the salt lake was very relaxing. Highly recommend staying here. As with every campsite there were flies, but just grab some EnviroSafe fly trap's from Bunnings which will catch them all.

I had such a fantastic time camping at Faraway Lodge. I happened to come on a night where I was the only one who booked so I had the whole area plus lake to myself, plus there are kayaks and paddles you can use! The area is incredibly private. There is a flush toilet, shower, fridge, microwave sink, kettle. I easily could have stayed here longer! Bruce was really helpful and gave me tips on the surrounding areas. He recommended to visit Timboon nearby, glad I did, had some of the best ice cream of my life there! Especially good on the 35 degrees day! I also really loved meeting his little dog who rides on his motorbike with him! I'm sure to be back!

Such a great spot! Gorgeous views, kayaks were a nice touch! Loo, shower and prep are great bonus - felt like we were the only people on earth so quiet and peaceful 😍 Only downside was there were an awful lot of flies about but think we may have been unlucky. Look forward to visiting again 🤩

Unfortunately I need to “highly recommend this place” as I WILL be back and don’t really want others interfering lol. The host are amazing. Nothing was a problem. The site was excellent. Large clean and perfect. The facilities listed are great. Top things are (not in any order). Night sky, peacefulness, town/shops 6 mins away, facilities, lake access. Personal favourite was sitting at the end of the pier looking up at the stars late at night then going to sit by the fire.
Only issue I would say is the gravel road around 500m you need to go down to the lake side. Has a semi sharpe inclined coming out which I wasn’t sure of if our 2wd could pull the small caravan out but the hosts come down and pulled it out with the proper vehicle. This is why they get 10/10. Lovely people and lovely site.

We recently stayed for a couple of days at Faraway Lodge and it was an absolutely fantastic experience—especially for a large group and families with kids. The amenities truly set this place apart from the rest. Having access to a flushable toilet, hot water shower, power hook-up, and an additional storage shed was a huge bonus. We even used the shed as a makeshift kitchen on the days when the weather wasn’t great, which made the stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free.
The campsite is completely secluded and private, well away from the main residence and you basically have the whole lake all to yourself which was the best thing about it. It really felt like we had our own peaceful space surrounded by nature. The location by the lake was beautiful and perfect for relaxing and glorious views, highly instagramable!
We stayed with a big group—multiple families with kids, lots of big tents and cars, there was ample space for all of us. There was no shortage of activities. The provided tin boat and canoes were a highlight, and we made great use of them on the lake, creating lots of fun memories together.
The host was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. They supplied firewood, toiletries, and other essentials, and regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. That level of hospitality made a big difference and really added to how relaxed and welcome we felt.
Will definitely be coming back!
