Pitch your tent or camper near our picturesque dam with 3 jetties, a boat shed and walking track along dam. Throw in a line to catch a silver perch, bass or get the kids to catch some yabbies, they are great cooked up with chilli & garlic. Our property joins onto the Neerim East State Park for those walking enthusiasts or we can accommodate your horse in our yards should you want to explore the bush with many tracks directly from the property. We offer drinking water & toilet accessed from house. Neerim South is home to many wildlife and expect to see many bird species, kangaroos, deer and the odd wombat trailing through.
Chris & I are campers ourselves, so we know how nice it is to have a quiet and private spot all to ourselves, however before long you have people on top of you at caravan parks or at free camping you may experience the doof doof music until god knows what hour. So we offer exclusive private campsite all to your self, we only book one group at a time.

FIRE PLAN
In the event of high fire danger periods our campers may be asked to evacuate the property for their safety. Instructions will be provided prior. In the event of fires in surrounding areas, it may be necessary to cancel a future booking and or evacuate the site at short notice, this will be reimbursed by Hipcamps. Campers will be notified in the event of total fire bans, this mean no outside fires.

We are situated between Healesville sanctuary and the penguins at Phillip Island plus BawBaw is just over an hour away. Puffin Billy is also close by at Emerald lake
Locally we have wineries, restaurants such as Omy, The independent and Jason’s. There is a few apple orchards near by one with a cafe attached to their distillery.
The property is a working farm specialising in horse riding lessons. Horse riding lessons are available if pre booked. $150 per lesson.
The camp site is literally up the back paddock and just under an hour from Melbourne.
It is 4wd access only. And you will need to be an experienced 4wd driver.
Bathroom facilities are located at the front of the prop;erty and the camp ground is at the back.

Susan and Chris were amazing hosts. Obviously we were worried when Susan had to leave with her horse due to the possibility of fire. We left early the next day because of it. We were a bit disappointed that there were no more fish in the dam but we did manage to catch a few yabbies. We would definitely recommend this property!

We had a wonderful time at Susan's campsite. The location is stunning and the campsite is very well equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, a fire pit, an outdoor table and benches and a hut with a table and chairs. The hut was perfect for playing cards while it was raining. Also the campsite is very private.
We fell in love with the landscape: green rolling hills, gorgeous-looking cows, and pristine rainforest.
Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful property. And being able to bring our dog was a big +. We will be back.
The toolshed at Noojie is a great spot to have dinner. ❤️🐮🦆

A beautiful and peaceful spot. Susan was a fantastic host, thoughtful, kind and responsive. I was even gifted some homemade chilli jam and eggs. I spent 2 nights here just cooking on the fire, watching the wildlife by the pond including a wide variety of bird life and a fox. The set up has everything you need- camp toilet, mud kitchen, table and chairs and even a hut to have shelter in the rain. Plenty of fallen kindling to be collected if needed. Will return to explore some of the walking tracks. So nice to be able to have a solo getaway and not have to share the campsite with anyone, but feel totally safe. Just a short drive into town. Highly recommend.

Great setup for a few days of peace and private relaxation. Firepit and facilities with a beautiful dam full of birds, yabbies and different moods and colours, depending on the time of day. Sue and Chris are fantastic and caring hosts, living on site and welcoming campers to share their wonderful little piece of paradise.

Whispering Gums is such a lovely campsite! Great facilities, there is a camp kitchen and hut in case you need to get out of the elements. Sue and Chris are amazing hosts and we were lucky to meet Sue's horse Amy (and Banjo and the 3 cows)
Having the whole site to yourself makes it a wonderful experience and made it super easy for our dogs. Would highly recommend.

We had a great weekend away at Whispering Gums. Host Sue was lovely and really helpful - she came to our rescue when we had a camper trailer malfunction and made the stay fantastic.
Great site, we loved morning coffee overlooking the dam, and the campfire and mud kitchen were useful. The portaloo was very handy and Sue was quick and efficient with the changeover when needed.
It was lovely to meet Amy the horse and have a walk over the beautiful property to admire the cows and the view.
Thanks for the enjoyable stay Sue, we hope to be back!

Host Sue, was extremely kind and generous. The love she has for her place shows. As a group of 3 families we felt very welcomed and had everything we needed.
The addition of the toilet set up (and change overs) were greatly appreciated with kids in tow.
We loved the back drop of rolling hills and the space for the dogs to run around.
Highlight for the kids was definitely getting to see and ride Amy, the horse. Just magical.

Such a lovely campground; it's well maintained, the amenities are great and it was lovely to get away from the city lights and see the stars.
It was a great first camp for our pup who loved the freedom of being off leash, exploring and watching the animals.

Our weekend at Whispering Gums was more perfect than we could have ever imagined. Surrounded by rolling green hills and a tranquil billabong, the campsite is utterly stunning, no matter which direction you set up. The hosts, Sue and Chris are so accomodating and eager to share their love for the property and surrounding areas with you. When they learnt that I am a horse girl that relocated to the city for work, Sue made an effort to bring her gorgeous stock horse, Amy, to say good morning and to give me a chance to have horse cuddles with my morning coffee - which absolutely made my whole trip ✨. We were all super excited to meet the very handsome Banjo (a very funny, curious Blue Heeler pup) and the three head of Lowline Angus cattle on the property. The set up is perfect and so deliberately thought out. The little hut (complete with a dining table, books, a list of local things to do and extra cooking equipment), outdoor kitchen (with access to 40l of potable water) and outhouse (with and incredibly clean portable camp toilets) makes the campsite a great choice for first-time and experienced campers alike. We couldn’t be more grateful for our mini escape to Whispering Gums, and are already looking forward to our next trip! Make sure to grab some of Chris and Sue’s chilli jam - it is absolutely incredible and an amazing souvenir to head home with to make your trip last just that little bit longer 🌶️💖
