This property appears to be a normal house site but opens up to a large beautifully grassed area with large trees and gardens. Perfect for that quite getaway. We are not a caravan park!! We are an alternative to the cramped boxed in conditions you find in caravan parks. Plenty of space, green grass (when we have had rain) peace and quiet.
Large 4800 square metre block. 4 camp sites all dog friendly sites. Gates are locked at night for safety. Great for kids and dogs to ride, run and play. We have a host dog Milo who loves pats and crashing under vans. You will see pictures of him on our website, He is very friendly and quiet. He does have the roam of the place. If you're not a dog person you may need to reconsider your booking.
- Water and power available on request. Small fees apply. Unfortunately, we had to start charging due to excess use by some campers
- Large campfire weather permitting, great for drinks and conversations. We encourage all campers to join in when the fires roaring, We supply some wood always good to bring a bit to keep the fire going. Fire restrictions govern use.

We are 1 hour East of Melbourne along the M1, (and a couple of kms off the M1). Situated in West Gippsland. Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses and very close by you can enjoy the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the (mostly) lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries.
The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, not really ‘swimmable’, a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family and folks, we also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet - mainly seen at dawn or dusk.
Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans, tents or trailers (under 10 metres) in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your own group.
If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space.
As a reminder, all campers will need to be Self Contained as we have no toilet facilities, no access to fresh water, cold showers only and no cooking facilities.
Also remember if you wish to have a fire (not during fire season however) in our fire pit, you MUST bring your own wood.

This is a gorgeous place, it’s quiet and secluded. There is a fence around the site which is great to have your dog off leash. The river is a lovely place to cool down and the little cottage is so cute. We enjoyed reading a few books and guides that gave us ideas of what to explore around the area. The site was clean and well

It’s a privilege to stay at Casa Cucina! A beautiful space, which is easily accessible and flat to suit all types of camping. Chris is the perfect host, getting in touch ahead of check-in and giving us a warm welcome. Super easy to find and access.
The nearby Robin Hood Inn has a courtesy bus, which can come pick you up and drop you back again. Highly recommend a stay here.

We had a great time camping on Luke's property. The paddock where the campsites are are easily accessible for 2WD cars and have a nice view of surrounding paddocks with cows, birds and wallabies hanging around. It's nice that we can bring our dog too. Also only a 5 min drive into Cowes. Looking forward to coming back!

We had a beautiful, quiet stay at this riverside Hipcamp with our caravan. The site was peaceful and perfectly positioned beside the river, with the gentle sound of flowing water making it incredibly relaxing. It was easy to access, spacious and private, giving us plenty of room to set up and unwind. If you’re chasing a simple, serene escape, this spot is a gem.

We had a really lovely and relaxing stay on Chris’s beautiful block.
Arrival instructions were excellent and very easy to follow. The first thing we noticed was the freshly cut grass… it was lovely and short and made setting up camp really easy and comfortable.
The river hut was quirky and cute, with lots of charming little knickknacks inside. The alpacas and surrounding nature were a real highlight. We were lucky enough to spot a wombat, lots of birds, and even eels in the river during our stay.
At night you can hear some cars and horns from the freeway, so just something for future visitors to be aware of. The block also has large gum trees and a branch did come down during our stay on the last windy night (luckily causing no damage or injury to us). That’s just part of being out in nature and didn’t take away from our experience!
The block was immaculate, the only piece of rubbish was a HJ’s bag in the fire pit (which we assumed might have been for kindling) and wasn’t used during our total fire ban stay - but the fire pit would be a lovely addition if we could have used it!
Overall, we all had a wonderful stay. It was peaceful, relaxing and a great way to unwind in nature on Chris’s beautiful property. The kids had an absolute ball! Thank you for having us!
