Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish. The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours. We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave. Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river) Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by. We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.

Weekend Trip to Ladybug Campgrounds

We had a great time camping at Ladybugs for two nights. The spacious, private campsites are amongst the trees and near the creek. It is very relaxing to experience nature here, and listen to the amazing native birds. Peter and Kim have done a great job setting all this up so well. We really appreciated that they are so friendly and helpful.

Have a great experience here. Very beautiful, spacious and convenient camp site. Personally I like campsite 3 the most. There is waterfall just right beside us, and you can hear the water sound. And the owner is really kind and helpful ! !. It is recommended place even for beginner camper who never done camping before.

Heaven on Earth. A quiet, tucked away spot, with babbling brook, green pastures, kookaburras and lots of shade. The location is central (1 hour to Cradle Mountain, 20 mins to Burnie, or stay on site forever - it's that nice). The caretakers keep the place looking amazing all year round, and are the friendliest bunch. Bathroom and shower are regularly cleaned. You have to check this spot out on your next camping trip. Gorgeous site on a beautiful property. The river and waterfalls make for great adventuring for the kids, and the swing is lovely too. This campsite is a cut above any we’ve seen, with great care taken to give people nothing short of a magical camping experience, would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Rivers Edge

Andrew, who greeted us on arrival with some of his girls eggs and a load of firewood that lasted our three days and then some if needed, has a delightful spot for enjoying exactly what Tasmania has to offer. The river and yes platypus were spotted, birds, fish and beautiful smells that make relaxation and admiring nature possible. Whilst the weather wasn’t in our favour we still thoroughly enjoyed it and went for bush walks around his property. Close by is wings wildlife park or a little further caves and waterfalls. Loved our stay and thank you for sharing your beautiful spot.

So quiet, friendly host, platypus in the dam to see at dawn. Lovely walk up the hill. Clean toilets. 15 mins to cradle mountain visitor centre. If towing a van from devonport direction do NOT follow Google through Gunns Plains. It's super steep and unsuitable for vans.

Camped with friends at Blythe River Campground. Such a beautiful hidden gem. Toilet and hot shower amenities are available and clean, just don't look at the walls and ceiling 🕸️🕷️. Great little spot if you like to fish or cold water dip. Highly recommend it.

We stayed at campsite 2 for my partners birthday, despite our extremely late arrival the communication between me and the host was constant and clear, he had no issues with us arriving past our previously discussed time. Upon arrival there was a beautiful set up with marshmallows and a roaster, a sign for my partners birthday and some flowers. We got to set up our tent under beautiful festoon lights strung above, and were also able to prepurchase some firewood to have the pit nice and toasty. We also added the feature of the outdoor cinema, which was a game changer! The host had a lot of movies preloaded onto the usb, and even asked if my partner had a favourite for her birthday. The nearby walks are simply stunning and the waterfall is a short walk around the corner from the campsite. Absolutely stunning location - just be prepared to drive on some loose gravel if you’re in a smaller car! Will absolutely be visiting ladybug campgrounds again! 11/10
