Also very close to some great beaches where you can enjoy water activities. There is a boat ramp on the other side of bay approximately 5kms away. There are shops and cafes just down the road at Adventure Bay. 1.5 hours drive from Hobart. Guests must be full self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Campfires are welcome in the fire pit provided. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are pubs and restaurants. We have 2 flat sites and 3 slight gradient sites, all are far apart. The site also has drinking water water available free. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site pets must be kept on a leash. Visiting children are welcome to help our kids feed Alpaca, just ask. The property has an orchard of cherry plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. Food scraps must go in the compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Longer pieces of firewood are provided free of charge and kindling can easily be collected from around. (Please don't use the shorter pieces of cut firewood as they are for my wood heater). You could enjoy a wood fired bush bath at extra charge, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Early evening is the best time to enjoy a bush bath and star gazing with set up in the afternoon. Wildlife on the property includes birds, wallabies, possums, echidnas and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. I have an older Jack Russell who is afraid of big dogs, sorry. The Barn from early 1900 has been restored to create a touch of luxury to your rural escape. The Barn is spacious with cathedral ceiling in main living space and exposed beams in the bedrooms. It's an inviting colonial eclectic space that makes you feel right at home. (the attic is used for storage and the stairs are blocked at the bottom for child safety)

This place is a must when passing through the area or exploring Mt Field national park and Gorden dam. Derek is a tremendous host , full of information on the area and Tasmania in general. We had as much free fire wood as we wanted, water available and a beautiful grassed area over looking the Derwent river. If you like wine, grab a bottle or two of Derek’s reds he makes on the property, and for a hot tip ask him to give you a tour of his vineyard. Thank you Derek for a wonderful 5 night stay. Hopefully we will be back in a few weeks.

The host was friendly and very helpful, while we couldn’t set camp at the orchard site due to the inclement weather Darren offered a drier patch though more exposed and close to the highway it was still nice. Darren shared tips on best places to buy local produce etc

Ein sehr schöner campground. Nette und umsichtiger Gastgeber. Man hat dort seine Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit ohne auf Annehmlichkeiten verzichten zu müssen. Viele Tiere sind zu sehen, man kann sie beobachten oder selbst füttern. Die Anfahrt ist etwas verwirrend, aber wenn man es gefunden hat wird man belohnt. Wir empfehlen es unbedingt weiter.

We stayed at this camp and would recommend it highly. We towed our 18ft caravan to the top of the hill. The ground was firm and we had a lovely sea view. Nigel gave us some of his local knowledge and our 3 nights spent at this camp were very quiet.

The location was ideal just by the Craigbourne dam and the views were breathtaking. There is plenty of space and flat ground to camp or get the camper van parked. Really nice place to relax and have a fireplace going just as we did. Great hosts as well. Would definitely be back 👍🏻

Nice little campsite. Had what we needed for our first night on the road, electric hook up, water, and a toliet. Just off main road, although you have to have your eyes peeled to catch the entrance even with satnav.
