The little sanctuary has been specifically designed to accommodate Campervans and Self-driven motorhomes WITH ON-BOARD TOILETTING & GREY WATER TANK.
Please understand that our business model licence and insurance policy has stringent conditions attached to it.
*WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ACCEPT SELF-DRIVEN CAMPERVANS/MOTORHOMES THAT ARE 7.5m OR LESS IN LENGTH*
They must be equipped with their own toilet facilities and grey water reservoir due to governmental zoning regulations. Do NOT book unless you have your own toileting amenities and grey water tank. No human waste policy applies. If you have to cancel your booking because you do not meet these requirements, you will NOT be refunded. It is out of our hands.
Our Insurance policy disallows the following:-

Now that THAT is all said:
Forest Gate B&B has been receiving guests on the property for nearly 40 years and the Winter Wetlands is a small private sanctuary that we share with our guests who enjoy both privacy and open air.
We run a small mixed farm in the Adelaide Hills, and over the past 10 years, have been developing this little safe haven in the Southern corner of our property. We are trying to encourage the proliferation of local wildlife that everyone can enjoy both now and in the future.
The Winter Wetlands is NOT a 'caravan park'. It is a small, private, sanctuary, which is at it's best in the cold wet Winter months when the pond/ dam comes to life. Guests can kick back around the campfire overlooking the dam, as they listen to the crickets and frogs in the evenings. There is a resident Western Grey kangaroo, many possums (both ring-tail and brush-tail), native burrowing rats, koalas and an occasional wandering echidna (if you are lucky enough to see one). There's a plethora of birdlife, including favourites such as blue wrens, fairy wrens, and a resident family of white-winged choughs.
The Sanctuary caters for a maximum of seven bookings (2 guests per booking) at any one time. Usually, you will have the Sanctuary all to yourselves. There are many little picnic spots.
We request that guests leave no sign of visitation, and take all waste with them.
CAMPERVAN SITES:
As stated previously, regulations only allow the following:

We have 7 independent, unpowered, sites that are suited for Class A or B campervans or motorhomes ONLY.
ACCESS:
There is easy, main road access into the 'Winter Wetlands Sanctuary' from Brookman road. GPS: -35.21694, 138.6970.
There is a clearly marked, one-way, loose stone road that leads to all available sites. Look for the reflectors on the big gum trees on Brookman Rd, and the gate with the notice of Conditions of Entry denoting the way in.
COMMUNAL AREAS:
The communal shelter shed, picnic areas, and two communal camp fires offer a variety of places to relax and watch the local birds enjoy the area.
NEARBY FEATURES include:
- Directly across the road from the Heysen Trail in the beautiful Kuitpo Forest.
- 3-4 minutes to exceptional SA wineries including K1 (4 mins down the road), and Perrini (in the nearby township of Meadows) .
- Near Echunga Goldfields (Jupiter creek) (20 km away), and Prospect Hill (4 km away) for fossicking.
- Kuipto Forest TreeClimb is only 2 km up the road and has thousands of visitors per annum.
- Easy access to tourist townships of McLaren Vale (15 mins), Hahndorf (25 mins), Mt Barker (25 mins) and Willunga, which is well known for its Saturday Morning Market (15 mins).
- Facilities such as Pharmacy, Medical clinic, Petrol Station, Hotel, and Bakery can be found in Meadows, only 5 mins away.
The Winter Wetlands are fully fenced ensuring privacy.
In the interest of the wellbeing of local wild life, nearby stock, and neighbours, we ask that you do not play loud music at night.
WASTE:
NO HUMAN WASTE.
Guests staying in the Winter Wetlands must have self contained toilet facilities and grey water tank.
There is a Waste Dump Point in Meadows (6 km away) near the footy oval (Brooks street rec. ground, GPS: -35.180278, 138.76).
SIZE RESTRICTIONS:
Due to the nature of the vegetation in the Winter Wetlands, and manoeuvrability of vehicles, size restrictions apply. Sites will suit campervans (7.5 m or less), but will NOT be suitable for caravans. Caravans, trailers and tents are NOT permitted.
UNSUITABLE for CHILDREN and PETS:
Forest Gate is a working farm. There are regularly livestock in the paddocks adjacent to the Winter Wetlands. There is also an open dam and a communal fireplace in the Winter Wetlands.
Due to our insurance policy, we can not allow children or pets. Therefore, stays in the Winter Wetlands are only available to adults.

The camp site is on a section of 5 acres of this property. Its location is approximately 5 min drive from the Murray River where you can enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing at Woodlane Reserve. Majestic river red gums in the area make for beautiful walks along the bitumen road as seen in the photos. Mypolonga is a small agricultural town.
The location is reasonably quiet however at peak times you may be able to hear boats from the river, or the other agricultural pursuits on the farms.
The location is approximately 20 km from Murray Bridge and 1 hour from Adelaide and the Barossa Valley. Monarto Safari Park is 25km away and there is private wetlands Paiwalla on the opposite side of the river which you visit by kayak/canoe or drive.
We are currently not allowing children or dogs. Cats are acceptable. Potable water is available at the site. A small extra fee will be charged depending on your requirements. If you need a protected area for your gas burner cooking there is a solid brick room available also.

Our property is located in the rocky outcrops of the Bremer
Ranges and is
on the Bremer River in Rockleigh.
This site was once a overnight yard for the sheep farmers who were passing through the area.
We have three separate locations for campers to choose from. The Gums-
surrounded by small gum trees right near the Bremer River. The Carob- this site is situated
further back from the river and is surrounded by mulberry trees. Lastly we have The Sticks- this site is behind the scrubby bushed and
requires tight access and is more suited to tents and swags.
The decent into camp is quite narrow and steep so please drive carefully.
We are 45 minute drive
from the Lavender Federation Trail which is a popular walking track in the region.
We are only 30 minutes drive from

which is a popular spot for walking trails and picnics. Monarto is also home to a Safari Park which is the largest Safari Park in Australia and home to lots of interesting animals.

There are also a range of cafes, restaurants, galleries, and a distillery. Spirit of the Coorong cruises leave from Goolwa Wharf, where you can also board the historic Oscar W paddle steamer.
Markets are held every Sunday at Jaralde Park adjacent to the Goolwa Wharf.

3) There are no toilet/shower facilities available so please be self sufficient. If you are staying longer than one night you need to bring your own portable chemical toilet please, as per Hipcamp’s rules.
4) There are sheep, cows and alpacas living on the site at the moment. Please don't feed them and please note we are not a petting zoo, the animals are livestock.

Nestled in a beautiful hidden valley on 30 acres, our farm is home to friendly dogs, horses, alpacas, llamas, rabbits, guinea pigs, camels, cheeky pigs, Galloway cows, and chooks — along with wildlife including birds, kangaroos, koalas, owls, and even an echidna! From our hills, enjoy sweeping views to the lake and the charming winter creek, where frogs create a gentle evening soundtrack.
We’re just minutes from the McLaren Vale wine region, local Hills wineries, and 35 minutes from Victor Harbor’s coast. For a meal out, The Greenman Inn is 5 minutes down the road, with cozy wood fires in winter and a beautiful outdoor area in summer.
All three of our private, well-spaced sites include toilet facilities and offer something unique for overnight stays or day visits with a picnic. You can even walk to the sites for a day outing and enjoy the views, the creek, and fresh air, especially at The Hut, perched atop the hills.

The Hut – a rugged hut with three enclosed sides, perfect for sunset drinks or a picnic. Suitable for tents or camper trailers; 4WD and reasonable backing skills required.
The Laneway – beside the winter creek, ideal for small caravans, motorhomes, 2WD vehicles, or tents (please check with hosts if your vehicle is large)
Family and Animal Experiences: Pets are welcome (please keep them under control unless discussed with hosts). Families are encouraged to contact us during their stay if they’d like to meet our farm and rescue animals, and we’ll arrange a visit around feeding time. $10 from every booking goes directly toward feeding and caring for our animals, helping keep them happy and healthy.
Notes and Safety: Autumn and winter rains may make hill tracks slippery; bookings may need rescheduling for safety. Fires must be contained within the provided fire pits. During bushfire season, open wood fires are not permitted. Limited phone coverage is available at The Laneway. Please respect all guests: loud music and disruptive behaviour are not tolerated.

Campground is flat terrain, suitable for simply swagging it around the campfire or plenty of room for setting up camper trailers or caravans.

We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4. It was peaceful, no one else around and close to Monarto Safari Park and Murray Bridge. Sheep and lambs in the paddock next door to waste time watching and a fire pit, table and stump stools which were perfect for a night by the fire. We felt much better staying here on a private secure property than a public RV stop and the hosts were really lovely.

We spent two nights in this lovely little camp. The owners have created a simple place to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet. Everything is clean and tidy, has gorgeous views across the paddocks. It was a treat to wake in the mornings and have a cuppa with their sheep in paddock next door.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sunset Rocks Farmstay. We stayed in the Niagara Falls site which was just beautiful. The kids had a blast in the cubby, and the kayak on the creek. The adults loved a walk around the property, sitting at our campsite taking in the beautiful surrounds and the sound of the running creek. The site was big enough for our 23 foot van, which was reasonably easy to manoeuvre into position and the facilities were good. Quite a steep decline when approaching the bridge, so a 4WD is required if towing a decent sized rig. Thanks Steve for sharing your property with us!

Fantastic campsite down by the creek. Our kids and dog loved exploring along the creek. It had a great family feel with other families there too. The scenery and grounds by the creek were beautiful. We felt like we had our own little oasis as we camped right at the end. The host Steve was super prompt with answering questions and was nice and welcoming and friendly.
We will definitely recommend this place to others looking for a really nice spot alongside a creek.
Our constructive feedback would be that there needs to be more than 1 toilet and bathroom for the amount of campers and for the price paid. We camped over the Easter long weekend and there was often a line up and wait for the 1 toilet. For a place with that many campsites and people there should be at least 2 toilets.
It was great that it’s dog friendly and our dog had the best time, however we noticed that no one picked up after their dog, as there was dog poo everywhere. We had to pick up someone else’s dog poo to setup our swags.
It would also be nice to see and hear some animals while staying there with kids, as we didnt hear or see any animals, except for an old ram. I grew up on sheep farms and my sister has a hobby farm with sheep which the kids love. But it didn’t feel like a farmstay as we couldn’t hear or see any animals, unless you paid for a full tour. Maybe have a few animals close and that kids can see or at least hear?

Beautiful spot next to the creek which is spring fed.
Although it’s only 5 minutes from Mount barker it feels very far out in country which is nice and peaceful.
The 1kg sausages we got was also great, absolutely delicious.
Little bit overgrown vegetation at the time but nothing that a bunch of goats could come in and eat and clean out in a day. Other than that it’s really is a perfect little spot!
