This booking is for the adventurer camper, ready to sling your swag and gear on your back and find a nice spot by creek down the back of our property. Note these are not prepared sites - they're bush settings. But they will be remote and give a wilderness experience. You will be 200-500m walk from the camp toilet and BBQ. You may have spectacular views of valleys and ancient red river gums and you'll easily find a spot near the creek. Sites will not be completely level and you’ll need to be fully self contained and off grid. You will have shared access the camp sites areas including a grassy area near the creek as well for recreation but do note that our sheep are freely grazing across the property - so don't be surprised to see a fluffy friend or two. *** Note - in the case of heavy rain, these sites may be be unavailable due to dirt track access***

Feel free to bring your swags or a small tent to expand your adventure. **kids stay FREE**, making this an ideal family getaway. Our most secluded sites, looks out on to the highest point of our cliffs and is directly overlooking the creek. This site is in the creek basin itself and just metres away from the bubbling creek. This site is about 15x10 metres and about a two minute walk up hill to the toilet and one minute to the camp kitchen. A note on access: to gain access to the site you'll need to drive across our lawns. We'd like to keep traffic to a minimum so once your camper is set up, please use the car park higher up for your car - or keep your in and out travel to an absolute minimum. Adjacent to our fruit orchard and a close walk to our loo, this unpowered elevated site is supported by a vast raised pad and looks down into the valley and the creek. Perfect for caravans, this site is huge at about 6 x 14 metres usable space and about a one minute walk down hill to the toilet and to the camp kitchen. There's room to stay hitched on to your car if you prefer or park adjacent to your van. We're still top dressing the pad so no grass yet and it’s rocky in patches - so for now, bring your ground sheet mats and folding chairs to enjoy the view. It’s a beautiful spot. Rolling hills, cliff face, beautiful creek/stream and not too far from Adelaide! The compost toilet was very good (super clean and not smelly at all!!) and had a sensor light for night time visits. Plenty of spots for camp fires and dogs allowed! It was excellent.

Booked for one quick simple nights bush camping with my little daughter. The location is perfect and the setting alongside the stream under the big trees and the sound of the birds was exactly what I was after. Having some form of toilet is extremely convenient aswell. While we had our fun, this is a spot that could absolutely be so much more. The toilet is a dusty cubby house that could do with a sweep. There are bits of farming and building junk strewn all over the show. If you can look past that’s it’s a great little hideaway.

The site is BEAUTIFUL. The water and the rocks are absolutely stunning to stay beside, and the place is absolutely lovely to stay. However, we paid $60 for one night - and for that price there were a couple of glaring issues. First and foremost, we could not find a flat site in what was allocated to us (a pretty large space), and had trouble sleeping, despite quite thick mattresses, because the ground was quite lumpy and sloped. Secondly, another group had taken the fire pit from our site because there was none at theirs, and our 'host' told us to just make our own. If this was a public, free site, that'd be no problem - but for $60 for a camping only site, that should be a minimum. If the owners fixed these issues, it'd be 5 star location for sure.

Overall a really lovely experience, a really peaceful time away. I would recommend bringing your own fire pit as there was only one fire pit to share between two site, and the other site used it mostly. Also not space to park the car super close to camp, a hilly walk to get to the car so carting things in and out. Apart from that a really nice stay! Thank you Steve!

Beautiful escape into nature! This is a truly beautiful spot if you are looking to escape out into the middle of nature. Steve has made the site quite nice and comfortable. The river and the water right next to the camping site are absolutely wonderful! Steve was also a fantastic host—he was good enough to offer to let me set up my tent in a fresh, beautiful alternative spot on the property. Highly recommend this Mount Barker gem

The land was beautiful, felt much like camping in the bush - even though the nearest shops were actually only 6 mins away! Steve was great to communicate with, and the additionally purchased lamb sausages were delicious!

Had a great time at Steve’s farm. The creek was stunning and the rocks/gully provided great shelter from the wind for the fire. Kitchen and toilet were solid, Steve was a great host. Only just outside of barker so super convenient for supplies but felt super secluded at the same time. The dogs absolutely loved it. We will be back!

I booked Steve’s place last minute. I was just looking for a place to stay on our trip home. The creek was really nice, especially considering how close the location to Adelaide and civilization. We booked this site as I was not wanting to pay a premium as we were only staying one night. I stayed at a different site more suitable to the cost. I would recommend booking a site directly on the creek if possible. The sunrise was amazing .

We had the best mini getaway at Steve's camping spot with my husband and 3 kids. This is a beautiful part of the world, the kids loved exploring the creek, using the canoe and relaxing on the lush grassy bank. Facilities are basic with a drop toilet and bbq but that was the point, a retreat back to basics and nature. We all can't wait to return for some more swag camping here again in the future. Steve even zipped up our swags which we left to air when we were a bit later returning to the site than anticipated in the evening which was very much appreciated, Thanks for having us Steve.

Stumble across Sunset Rock after struggling looking for easter weekend camping spot. Since we had pretty late book, actually we had low expectation, since every great spot has been taken. But its turns the opposite way, lucky we come early so we can have closest swag spot to toilet (only like 200m distance) which Steve just made that day. Can’t complain about the facility, Steve has everything ready for everyone. Can’t miss about the amazing nature, you can do a little walk around the creek and river. Surely we gonna comeback to try another spot here in Sunset Rock. Yet it still needs a lot of improvement but it have a lot of potential!

We absolutely loved our stay at Sunset Rocks Farmstay. We stayed in the Niagara Falls site which was just beautiful. The kids had a blast in the cubby, and the kayak on the creek. The adults loved a walk around the property, sitting at our campsite taking in the beautiful surrounds and the sound of the running creek. The site was big enough for our 23 foot van, which was reasonably easy to manoeuvre into position and the facilities were good. Quite a steep decline when approaching the bridge, so a 4WD is required if towing a decent sized rig. Thanks Steve for sharing your property with us!

Tbh we were quite disappointed when we arrived at this Hipcamp and a little perplexed by the positive reviews we read up on before booking. The property was quite untidy with random bits of crap around the place and the site we were given was rocky and uneven. We ended up camping on the concrete slab by the shed which was not the outlook we were hoping for. There was one other caravan which was down by the creek which looked to be the best camp spot on the whole property but could only accommodate one van. The supposed camp kitchen looked more like a kids cubby house and obviously had seen better days. We felt completely ripped off paying $197 for two nights which is outrageously expensive, more than an actual caravan park with lovely facilities. We would have left and counted our losses however we were unsuccessful in finding anything else being the Gather round weekend. The property has plenty of potential to be great but sadly in reality it was terrible.

The host was welcoming and engaging with us. The site offered a variety of sites to choose from and we chose to go “off the grid”. The experience by the creek was wonderful. No people in site and a variety of local animals made their presence felt. Big Greys, Kookaburras, etc. it’s hard to believe it’s so close to the metropolitan! It was very quiet and if it’s a clear night like we had, it makes it even more special. Highly recommended.

Fantastic campsite down by the creek. Our kids and dog loved exploring along the creek. It had a great family feel with other families there too. The scenery and grounds by the creek were beautiful. We felt like we had our own little oasis as we camped right at the end. The host Steve was super prompt with answering questions and was nice and welcoming and friendly. We will definitely recommend this place to others looking for a really nice spot alongside a creek. Our constructive feedback would be that there needs to be more than 1 toilet and bathroom for the amount of campers and for the price paid. We camped over the Easter long weekend and there was often a line up and wait for the 1 toilet. For a place with that many campsites and people there should be at least 2 toilets. It was great that it’s dog friendly and our dog had the best time, however we noticed that no one picked up after their dog, as there was dog poo everywhere. We had to pick up someone else’s dog poo to setup our swags. It would also be nice to see and hear some animals while staying there with kids, as we didnt hear or see any animals, except for an old ram. I grew up on sheep farms and my sister has a hobby farm with sheep which the kids love. But it didn’t feel like a farmstay as we couldn’t hear or see any animals, unless you paid for a full tour. Maybe have a few animals close and that kids can see or at least hear?

Birthing Tree - Camping Tent Site A
Amazing location for families. Had a great Easter getaway with three kids who made a bunch of new friends. The birthing tree area is close to the toilet and easy walking access to the creek where the kids will love kayaking and climbing up the hill exploring. Steve is a great host who was highly visible and contactable throughout the stay and really ensures his guests are having a good time. The farm walk was a great addition as well as the pats from his very adorable dogs poppy and spongy. We will definitely book again.

Gorgeous location by the creek, decent facilities. The hill down is steep but was fine in our big rickety 2WD. Steve is lovely. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Steve is super friendly and welcoming. The farm is beautiful and very peaceful which can be perfect choice for everyone; couples, family or group of friends. The campsite is exactly what was designed. We loved everything.

Beautiful spot next to the creek which is spring fed. Although it’s only 5 minutes from Mount barker it feels very far out in country which is nice and peaceful. The 1kg sausages we got was also great, absolutely delicious. Little bit overgrown vegetation at the time but nothing that a bunch of goats could come in and eat and clean out in a day. Other than that it’s really is a perfect little spot!

Had a wonderful time camping on Steve’s property. Although we were tent camping, we had our cars with awnings to set up and so ended up at the RV Niagara Falls location and was perfect for our set up. The creek is so very lively, attracting so much fascinating wildlife.
