3. Nyalar Mirunganah Nature Refuge

99%
(590)
60km from Toowoomba · 31 sites · Tents, RVs
**Our camping sites vary in size and proximity to others. If you want to come with a group with several vehicles etc, please send a message rather than book separate sites. We will help find a site which suits your needs. We now have several secluded bush camp sites as alternatives to our more 'civilised' sites. They have no facilities apart from the site so you must be entirely self-sufficient. But all are single sites well away from others. We invite you to come and share our property, soak up the tranquility of our quiet valley and enjoy feeling at home in nature. And your dog is welcome too (under control please because we value our wildlife, and no more than 2 dogs per couple or family group)! The land is nearly 200 Ha in the western foothills of the Dividing Range, with the usually-flowing North Branch Creek being a green haven supporting lots of wildlife. It also includes the secluded back valley of Hann Creek to which you can walk, cycle or ride, with many tracks of lengths up to 3 km. The land is mostly open forest land with some cleared areas from its dairy-farming history, and many gullies with thicker vegetation. The property is mostly now dedicated to nature conservation and the recovery of its more natural state. It is a Nature Refuge under Qld legislation with special emphasis on recognising that the land is Githabul country, honouring local Githabul people now, sharing it with them and others, plus preserving species of plants and animals with known relevance to their former lifestyles. The name Nyalar Mirungan-ah means 'Old Women's Tears' in Githabul, and recognises that they cry because the land was taken from them and because it has not been looked after well by European people. We are now trying to care for it well, and to allow the original ecosystems to return, by lighter grazing, soil recovery and using traditional Aboriginal burning knowledge. And we welcome dogs as long as they don't disturb our wildlife. Shandy, our own dog, is very welcoming to guests and might drop in to your camp for a visit.

Hart Hill boasts a stunning 28 acres. Your initial view of the property coming over a Thanes Creek causeway is that of a magnificent rock face. However, 600m down the road, through the gate, and over the ridge, Hart Hill exposes a lovely undulating fold baring a huge panorama of flat alluvial ground that hugs Thanes Creek. Sprinkled with gums, the camping area is based west of the property in a stunning shady lea cooled by the creek and an old windmill for a backdrop. The properties history is colourful. In 1869 the area was a hub for gold diggers wanting to strike it lucky. Old wooden stumps tell a story of an old mining hut, and if you dug in some of the rock heaps you might get a shock when you uncovered more than gold. Visitors can enjoy campfires, fossicking, including swimming, kayaking, fishing and more dependant on seasonal changes to the creek.

This beautiful 200-acre property is the perfect place to get away from it all. We have a hilltop area where you can view the sunrise from the east and the sunset in the west, with absolutely no light pollution. On a clear night, the galaxy is astounding to view. The property has multiple areas of creek frontage with both kid and adult-friendly swimming areas. There is a good area for using a small kayak (depending on the creek levels) or floating along on an inner tube, and beautiful views and wildlife abound. You may even get a visit from our beautiful king parrots. You can also enjoy bushwalking, birdwatching, and fishing, and there are even deer on the property, but they’re rarely seen. If you’re keen, you can take your 4WD to the end of Emu Creek Road, where you can start your trek up to the old plane wreck. Bushwalking to the Steamers (for the very experienced) can be accessed at the end of Emu Creek Road. We are a working cattle farm and have around 40 head of cattle.

Exclusive private site on our 80acre WORKING* property just off the Warrego Highway at Haigslea. *(Please note as we are 1km off the highway there is subsequent highway noise, we are immune to it, but as anything, some people may notice more than others.) We are a working small rural property so with that comes seasonal tractor work/trucks and an element of busy, depending on what projects are on the go! Real taste of rural life while being smack bang in the privacy and serenity of our buzzing property! Private gate access for self check in and checkout. The large campsite is located alongside our 14 acre dam with a pontoon and dam banks to explore. The site is flat and mowed, with easy access from the road for caravans. The dam is perfect to launch a SUP/ canoe out on, float around on floaties and spot some turtles or eels. Great to swim in/ try your luck with a fishing rod, but NO JUMPING from the pontoon as water levels vary and submerged debris/ trees etc. (common sense swimming in dam and water sources.) The pontoon is perfect for evening sunsets (or a sneaky proposal, which has happened a few times already!) ** Please be very conscious of deciding to camp with children in close proximity to an open water source. Safety is our highest priority. The recent addition of our feature windmill makes for gorgeous photos and country feels. The campsite is bordered by seasonal crops. We also have Cattle that rotate through different paddocks on the property, depending on feed and crop cycles. (Not all guests will have cattle about sorry kiddies!) **Pets welcome, but to remain under STRICT supervision. Not to chase cattle or wildlife. ** Our property is also home to the local remote controlled airplane club. Guests will be able to see them fly around of a weekend. You can watch from the campsite but we ask not to walk through the paddocks or approach the club. During weekday stays (and some weekends) you will have the pleasure to see fighter aircraft, KC-30s and the impressive C17 Globemasters doing some low flying and pass overs as we are just on the edge of the Amberley RAAF Base circuit area. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping shower, and drinking water supply. A basic long drop outhouse is set up for guest use. Fire pit and picnic table for use. Firewood able to be purchased as an extra. Please leave no trace and take all rubbish with you. An information email will be sent a few days prior to your arrival containing all your checkin and checkout information. Perfect for a place to hideaway and relax for a staycation (40 minutes from Brisbane) or a base to explore the surroundings. LOCALS GOUGE: - For families, the Ewenique hobby farm is located roughly 500m up the road. Check out their facebook page, a good activity for the kids on the weekends. - Perfect spot to explore all our little country towns from. Fernvale is only a short drive, the famous Fernvale bakery is a must. - Check out discover Ipswich for whats on or around. Many great local pubs and things to see and do! PLEASE NOTE: ** PRICING - $ per night per vehicle (caravan/camper, this includes 4 people.) As it is advertised as 1 SITE FOR ONE CARAVAN/CAMPER, booking options don't include adding an extra camper or family group. We are happy to have guests camp with other friends or family (max 5 caravans/campers on site) ON REQUEST. To do this, please select the extra caravan option (under extras) when booking. Please note that it is $ per night per camper/caravan so you will need to add the extra twice if it is for two nights (or 4 times if booking for 2 extra caravans/campers for two nights etc.) Please send me a message if you have any questions, as the booking selection options don't have the capability to reflect adding extra campers to a single booking site as of yet. * No parties or large gatherings, but happy for small friend or family groups *

12. Hart Hill
