We also have a nice running creek that you can enjoy watching our many wildlife that are present throughout the creek, fish, eels and turtles. It's truly a very private and relaxing spot to chill out and enjoy camping for a few days or whatever suits your needs while passing the area. Plenty of fantastic swimming holes nearby including Josephine falls and Babinda boulders very popular spots for tourist and the locals. Site 1 right down on the creek large grass flat space big enough for two families to set up camp. The creek runs around the outside so there are a number of viewing points to see the wildlife mentioned above. A set of solar lights hang over the firepit area allowing for more light while cooking on our wonderful swinging hotplate BBQ. Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night. Swimming in the creek is not recommended. A peaceful acre and a half block straight off the road, flat grassed area with fencing between camp area and Neighbours. Plenty of space to set up where you feel comfortable within the fence and surrounded by horses. 15km or 20 minutes from Cairns City Centre and 10 minutes from Coles or Woolies in either direction. (Please note Gordonvale Woolies is closed on Sundays, Mount Sheridan shopping centre has Kmart, Coles and Woolies). A cane train line runs across the front of the property so during cane season the trains come past a few times during the day and night. They can be noisy but are fairly quick. Fresh and crystal clear swimming hole/ creek at the end of the road if you continue west down Maitland Road. Please stay in the front block and before the horse stables. Guests must be self-contained with their own toilet facilities.

Weekend Trip to Woopen Creek Vanilla - Camping

Beautiful, spacious & private campsite. Ray came down to greet us upon arrival, very friendly and accomodating host, he even offered us a tour of the vanilla orchard. (we might take him up on it next time). After we spoke to Ray we were left to ourselves and had a great relaxing time. The for pits were stocked with firewood free to use and the creek was beautiful and clear.

We had a fantastic stay despite the rainy weather. Rowan moved us to a different spot in case the rain and road got worse, it was very thoughtful. We had a secluded spot just for us, above the creek, it was a very short walk to a nice swim spot with plenty of shade. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful place near Innisfail

A little spot of paradise right here on earth. I felt as though I were wandering the Amazon. Dead white sand, crystal clear water, cool and green, jungly trees reaching across the creek, a place to restore your soul. Jodie and her dog, Blue, were super friendly. Simply fantastic all round.

This place is truly your ultimate camping experience. The land where we camp is large enough for multiple caravans and level. Right in front of where you camp is the most magical fresh water creek. Plus your own private waterfall which is a short walk from your site. This place is truly so special and magical. Hubby and I have a rule that we never return to the same place twice. In 15 years of travelling around the world- this place is the only exception Jodie is so wonderful and welcoming. Please please please respect this place and leave no trace. Jodie thank you so much for allowing us to stay here. It really is one of a kind Oh my god! Where to go

Danbulla National Park and State Forest

Right beside Tinaroo sits Danbulla National Park and State Forest. Lake Tinaroo draws water skiers, kayakers, anglers, and swimmers, and trails like Mobo Creek Cater walk and Cathedral Fig Tree showcase the biodiversity of this Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Tent campers can adventure to secluded boat-access campgrounds featuring numbered campsites with fire rings. Cars, campervans, and camper trailers can roll into easily accessible campgrounds with picnic tables, wood-fire BBQs, shower cubicles, and flush toilets.

Wooroonooran National Park

Experience the rush of Josephine Falls and the iconic Mamu Tropical Skywalk in Wooroonooran National Park—just under two hours from Tinaroo. The Goldsborough Valley and Palmerston area have several campgrounds that welcome tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Most campgrounds have waterfront campsites nestled along rivers and creeks with fire rings, flush toilets, and picnic tables. Both areas also feature incredible scenery and access to mountain-biking routes, walking trails, and scenic waterways for canoeing or floating on a lilo.

Koombooloomba National Park and Conservation Park

Settle into rugged campgrounds surrounded by lush rainforest in Koombooloomba National Park. Amenities like pit toilets are available, but campers need to bring all other essentials. Caravans and motorhomes will have to sit this one out, but cars and camper trailers with 4WD can conquer the winding forest roads. Swimmers and speed boats are welcome in the lake, while bird watchers keep an eye on the forest canopy. When to go

Surrounded by tropical rainforest, it’s no surprise that Tinaroo gets plenty of precipitation—especially in summer when it’s hot and humid. Waterproof footwear and an extra tent tarp are essential in December, January, and February. A positive perk about the heavy rain is that it brings lively wildlife with it. The fish in Lake Tinaroo are most active during the warmer months, and many rare bird species migrate over from Papua New Guinea. The rain tapers off when winter arrives.
