The campsite features a large flat grassy area with great access for 2WDs and all types of camping vehicles from caravans to campervans and motorhomes. Plenty of room to turn your vehicle around and a lockable gate means your campsite is secure.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and drinking water.
Our front paddock is visited nightly by lots and lots of wallabies. We have fantastic sunrises and sunsets here. You’ll really love the great views we have towards the east and west.

We offer sites beside a vacant farm cottage and hay shed, or a choice of other areas around the farm. Campers have use of spacious, clean amenities with hot shower, toilet and vanity.

Ours is a working farm that the two of us (not young folks) manage on our own. Campers can join in whatever we are doing at the time, stand by and watch, or just sit back and enjoy. Our farm also offers unique elevated views of the local farming area with a backdrop of The Great Dividing Range, the Coral Sea and Port Douglas. There is also an impressive variety of butterflies and bird life to enjoy.
Hosts are happy to show campers around our market garden that we start cultivating after the wet season and usually continue until December - weather dependant.
Guests will have access to a portable fire place during their stay as well as a BBQ grill and hotplate. Firewood is available for purchase.
We have electricity available from the vacant cottage at $25/night. Must be booked through Extras.
Our 150acre property has spectacular mountain views, as well as views to Port Douglas and the Coral Sea. There are small creeks on the property that attract birdlife and have a variety of freshwater fish and turtles in them. Nearby there are several larger creeks for cooling off, and properties with horses, cattle and sugarcane. We are a 15min drive to Mossman, the closest town, and 45mins south to Port Douglas or north to the Daintree township. You can take a shortcut to the road to Daintree via the WWII Japanese Miallo Bombing Memorial.

We absolutely loved our stay at Possum Gully. Site 1 was secluded, and while the creek wasn’t fully flowing, it was ankle deep and suited us with our 2.5yo.
We went up the first night to watch the animals being fed and this was the absolute highlight!
I would recommend this to any friends looking for a lowkey stay that’s private and quiet

We loved our stay at Alex’s place! Alex is wonderful and so lovely to chat too! It’s a great space with plenty of room. Short drive into the centre of Cairns, we stayed 4 nights and it was perfect for us to service our car/van. A great spot for a quick stop over too! Safe and peaceful. The Wallabies are every where and the sunsets are beautiful.

The site (we had site 3) was very open with plenty of space for tents and cars. It had a bathroom block where we set our portable toilet and shower - Way better than setting up our ensuite.
The creek was minimal during our time (dry season) but still enough to entertain the kids and cool off. With a bit of rain it would be amazing during the wet season. We had local furry creatures visit us a few times when the site was quiet.
Also, on the property, we saw a Frilled Neck Lizard over a metre long... we called him 'Fred'. -Amazing
There are 2 approx. 20 min drives to Mareeba for necessities, we took the back roads. Saw a Brown snake, a lot of rural living and farm land.
The hosts are lovely and respect privacy.
We will be going back without the kids to enjoy the peace Wally's Roost has to offer.

Camped for one night at Site 1 - Possum Gully. This camp site was well maintained, clean and spacious for multiple vehicles with a camp fire pit provided. This was the most secluded site of the three and only a short walk to the portaloo. Phil and Janette were both excellent hosts, supplying us with firewood for our stay. They invited guests to attend their nightly feedings of the wildlife which was a great experience. Janette shared a wealth of knowledge about the animals and we were lucky enough to see many animals, including Sparkles the possum and her new twin babies. I would highly recommend this camp site to others travelling through the Atherton region. I would definitely camp here again.

We loved our stay at Kingston Road farm! The view is simply spectacular and the campsite is peaceful and quiet with lovely grass area for tent setup. Toilet and shower facilities are clean, well maintained, and very easy to access. Nerida and Mick were so welcoming and generous, giving us a tour around the farm and sharing their fresh produce with us! We had the best time and will definitely be back in the future!

Alex‘s place was an excellent location, it was a great base for all our day trips during our time in Cairns. Alex was a very friendly and accommodating host, making suggestions for things to do in the local area. What we enjoyed about the stay was the close-up wallaby encounters, and the quiet location with lots of space. A note to fellow travelers; It was great that there was no road noise at all, yet It was close enough to the freeway. I would highly recommend Alex‘s place for your base while you are in the cairns region.

We had a lovely quiet time at Tonina's place. There's some history here, an old tobacco shed for starters ect...The camp-sites are big enough that we didn't have to unhitch our van. Each site has a firepit. There is 1 male and 1 female toilet and hot showers + 1 extra toilet and a laundry. Access to the Barron River is via a picturesque 2 minute meander down a path where we found a table and chairs and ended up spending a lot of time enjoying the views of crystal clear water flowing. Mesmerising. We'll be back for sure. 👍

We had a great time at Wallaby Nights. Alex was an amazing host—so friendly and accommodating, really making us feel at home. The view of the adjacent grassland was stunning, with plenty of wallabies and birds to observe. The kids loved the playground situated under a tree in the far corner.
There was a bit of construction work when we stayed there, but the machinery only started up at 7am and wrapped up before we got back to camp in the evening.
