Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses and goats. We have goat food for purchase on site. 🐐
The Lower Sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most of these sites are suitable for 2WDs and some sites are accessible to caravans.
The Elevated Sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by 4WD and require you to BYO sealed, chemical camping TOILET and ensuite tent. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites however NO caravans.
🐾 Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage due to free range chickens.

We can also take you horse riding around the farm for a couple of hours or to the local winery if you prefer a longer ride. We cater for all levels of riding.
We have many panoramic campsites for you to choose from. These are suited to anyone with the swag, tent, camper, caravan, or motorhome. You must be self-sufficient, with your own toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste when you go.
For those who prefer the comforts of home we have a bunkhouse which sleeps 10 and has electricity, water, flush toilet, shower, stove, microwave and TV.
Linen is not supplied.
If you are driving 2wd, or 4wd towing a caravan or a big trailer and GPS takes you through Mountain View Rd - do not go that way - go through Dayboro Rd.
For those without transport Dakabin train station is 25 min from the farm. Pick up and drop off to the station can be arranged. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants less than 10 min away.

Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is 5min away if you jump on at Borallon Station Rd. Some cattle tracks for the kids to ride along in the paddock also.
-Wivenhoe, Somerset Dam in the area for water sports
-Wildlife watching, this paddock sustains a large variety of native animals, if you’ve got a keen eye
-Bottle Tree pub is just down the road, - bit more than walking distance tho :)

There is no vehicular boat ramp but still excellent access for other small watercraft. Due to the steep track to the camp area we insist on 4WD’s only - though you can walk down if feeling energetic!
Please bring drinking water and a desire to leave the riverside just as you found it. We have enough room for around 20 people in tents or camper trailers.

Back again. After Staying at Dead Tree Alley, we said we'd be back. This time we stayed at Sunset Ridge, and it lived up to its name. The views were beautiful. Each meal we chose a different view to take in. We enjoyed the privacy, the local wildlife and of course all the animals that were up for scratches. The ease, views, animals and general atmosphere bring us back. It's also quite handy that despite feeling disconnected, local shops are only 8mins away in case you forget something.. ..like toilet paper😅

Such an incredible spot for a family getaway, and so close to the Gold Coast! The entire property is beautifully maintained, and the host family are absolutely lovely. The animals and the opportunity for the kids to interact with them were definitely a highlight of our stay. Having access to a shower and toilet was an added bonus. We had such a great time and will definitely be back!

We had a lovely stay, our camp area was spacious and private, but not far from the amenities when needed. Our kids loved the farm animals and experiencing getting to know and feed them. Guy's kids were so friendly and were amazing at introducing all the animals and tasks. It's a beautiful property and was a relaxing stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Creek Campsite! Easy access, a lovely flat and spacious site, and a great firepit. The beautiful trees and flowers around camp made it such a peaceful spot, and we loved having the cows nearby too. The host was friendly and welcoming.
You can hear the occasional car passing, but traffic wasn’t too frequent during our stay. A lovely spot for a camping getaway without having to travel too far from Brisbane. 🐾🏕️

This was our second time staying at Rangetop, really cannot recommend it enough! We were allocated a spot on the ridge this time (ER4) with the most phenomenal views of Deception Bay & Moreton Island, having previously camped on the rolling hills behind. Was a public holiday weekend so accept busier than usual, did feel our pitch had been squeezed in on the lane going down to the next pitch, and was not as private as the previous hill spot as each hill site is a whole hill to yourself. Still quiet enough on the ridge site, you cannot hear the other campers but they were very visible ~75m away. All pitches have desginated stone ring campfires with firewood available on site. Free roaming cattle and horses which kept to themselves. Also beautiful walks around the property and down to the lake. If you want full privacy and views of rolling hills & Glass House Mountains then would recommended asking for a hill spot, or if you want beautiful ocean views and happy to accept a semi private spot then would opt for the ridge. We would probably go for the ridge again for the views! Also didn’t find our spot overly windy despite being on top of the ridge.

Enjoyed a relaxing few days on the eastern ridge looking out over to Moreton Island. Beautiful spot, huge area to spread out from others, close to Brisbane. Will definitely be back.
