Option 1: Via Flagstone onto Bushman Drive – then into Wyatt road follow to the end and turn right onto undullah road follow for 5 ks . we approximately 14 km from the Flagstone Shopping Centre. Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended. Option 2: From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road. This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. This is such a lovely and thoughtful hip camp. Our hosts were lovely and welcoming. The came is private, and serene with outdoor bath tubs and shaded spots. We've stayed at many different "glamping" accomodations and this certainly can hang with the best of them. It's close to Brisbane, good value and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Our family of 4 had a beautiful, peaceful getaway in this stunning eco village. Miriam and the community were all so helpful and welcoming. Great location to explore rock pools, water falls and beaches. The kids had a great time in the communal swimming pool and tennis court. The cafe and grocer in the village are delightful with local delicacies. Also make sure you have at least one session at the bathhouse! Thank you Miriam and Nick we will be back!

Weekend Trip to Nine Mountains Glamping

Beautiful location to rest and recuperate. Lou goes out of her way to communicate prior to your arrival to confirm your needs such as additional food packages or dietary requirements. She and Greg were there to greet us on arrival and show us around. The amenities are clean and have all the creature comforts for a relaxing stay from slippers and bathrobes to bath salts, and a selection of hot beverages with choccie bikkies. Pro's - Lovely hosts who have made an effort to create a relaxing private space. All cooking needs were provided for so you only need to bring your own clothes. Comfortable bed. Beautiful views out to Glasshouse mountains. Shaded areas provided to relax. Hubby is already planning on buying a hammock it was so comfortable! Con's - Relatively close to neighbours (albeit that the site is designed so that you can't see them and vice versa). Some road noise from trucks at times but lots of bird life to focus on instead. Not much to do unless you hop in the car and drive somewhere however Lou has made an effort to include some games and also directions to waterholes. If you just want to relax and read a book like us - perfect. Overall a very enjoyable stay and lovely thoughtful hosts.

Our jaws hit the floor as we came around the corner but once we got out of our car we realised how much thought has gone into it all.. the layout of the amazing bell tent was like something out of a magazine.. just stunning and the bed was so lush and super comfy.. stark difference from our usual camp trips sleeping on blow up mattresses! The kitchen/bathroom block was just gorgeous and very clean and we really appreciated all those little extras tucked away neatly in the cabinets.. also felt very fancy with our robes and slippers especially after having a bath with the bath salts you left us. Every little space you created on that perfect patch of grass was just magic. To top it all off the most incredible view of the valley and glass house mountains, just lovely waking up to that and ending the night around the fire staring at it. You've given us a weekend we will never forget and we can’t wait to come back.

From little nooks in the table next to the hot tubs for your wine glass, to extra hooks on the bathroom door for robes, to citronella candles for any bugs (which weren't an issue at all), a choice of matches or lighters for the fire, the butter being pre-cut up into usable knobs, turf outside the tent entrance so you can put your shoes on comfortably, the world's most comfortable hammocks with pillows included...the combination of Greg's beautiful woodwork and clever craftsmanship with Lou's eye for every detail of comfort and practicality you could ask for and the beautiful pocket of the world they have here is an absolute recipe for a joyful weekend. The guest book is full of all sorts of people saying "this was just what we needed" - in this crazy world with the bustling lives we all live Lou has generously poured her heart into creating a wonderfully peaceful sanctuary.

2 nights at Nine Mountains Glamping

We recently stayed at Nine Mountains Glamping to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by serenity—it truly is nature at its most peaceful and soul-nourishing. The setting is absolutely breathtaking. Tucked away in the heart of the Glasshouse Mountains, this glamping retreat offered us the perfect blend of luxury and stillness. Every detail, from the cozy furnishings to the outdoor bath under the stars, has been so thoughtfully designed—it’s clear that a lot of heart has gone into creating this space. A special thank you to our incredible hosts, Lou and Grey. They were so welcoming and warm, and they’ve genuinely thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and unforgettable. From the little touches to the big comforts, nothing was missed. Sipping coffee with a mountain view, unwinding in the outdoor bath, and simply breathing in the beauty around us—it was the perfect way to celebrate someone I love so deeply. We left feeling relaxed, inspired, and so grateful for the experience. Nine Mountains is a true sanctuary. We can’t wait to return.

We loved our stay in this cosy, beautifully renovated little house. Nestled in a very quiet area, with lovely parkland, much wildlife and a wonderful cafe a short walk away, it had everything we could need. The house was extremely clean and our hosts were very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The directions provided were comprehensive and made finding the place a breeze. Such a relaxing place to get away from it all!

Weekend Trip to Turkey's Nest Rainforest Cottages

Loved the cozy get away at the Macadamia Lodge. Being able to disconnect from the world and enjoy each other's company was just what we needed to hit pause on our busy lives. No social media, no news, no rushing around. Just relaxing. The boardgames provided were more than enough to keep us entertained and the fireplace was warm enough for the whole room well into the night. Was a very successful surprise birthday get away for us and we definitely highly recommend visiting! If you're one to enjoy a movie or two, Rosemary and Russell are more than happy to provide a tv and DVD player.

Amazing Glamping experience just over an hours drive from Brisbane. This place exceeded all expectations. Its s a hidden gem and unique experience. We loved the outdoor firepit next to the creek. The place has everything you need, the bed was super luxurious. I would highly recommend a getaway to this place.

Where to go

The North Gorge Headlands Walk

This walk is not to be missed, as the boardwalk offers stunning views of the gorge, and is a great place for spotting turtles, dolphins, and whales (between May and November).

Naree Budjong Djara National Park walking tracks

Six walking tracks run through the park, five of which start in the car park at Blue Lake (Kaboora), about 9 km from Dunwich. Some tracks have limited shade, so early morning walks are best, especially in summer. The most challenging track is Kabul (carpet snake), which has long steep sections. The Jarlo (fire beetle) track offers views to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and the Glass House Mountains to the north.

Brown Lake (Lake Bummiera)

Brown Lake is stained by the tannin from the leaves of surrounding tea trees and paperbarks. It is only 3.5 km from Dunwich and a great place for birdwatching and wildflowers, while waterside trails allow you to walk the lake’s perimeter.

Moreton Bay Marine Park

Snorkel or scuba dive with giant manta rays and lazy leopard sharks in Moreton Bay Marine Park on a tour with a local outfitter. At Manta Bommie, off the island’s northeast corner, these amazing creatures are unfazed by swimmers above them. The excursion might also include sightings of turtles, dolphins, and bull sharks.

When to go

North Stradbroke Island’s subtropical climate makes it a year-round destination. Summers are warm and sometimes rainy, while winters are mild. Temperatures range from 22–30°C in summer (December to February), and in winter (June to August), you can expect 12–20°C.

Know before you go

Bookings and camping permits are essential on North Stradbroke Island.
A regular passenger and car ferry service operates from Brisbane, or you can take a private water taxi. The crossing takes about 30 minutes, and ferries are met by local buses at Dunwich.
If travelling without camping gear, Straddie Camper Trailer & Camping Equipment Hire at Point Lookout can provide everything you need—and they’ll even set up camp for you. First-time campers can get extra instruction to feel prepared.
The best place to see the sensational Straddie sunsets is at Amity Point, on the northernmost tip of the island.
Blue Lake (Kaboora) is a place of cultural significance for the Quandamooka people and should be respected. Swimming is not allowed—instead, soak up the beauty of what is known as the "deep, silent pool."
