There are no people nearby and you will feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere (but are just 25mins from Toowoomba). We are a cattle property so you will see cows and calves and horses on your way to the camp sites. Because of this and bio security, there is no 4WDriving around the property but you are welcome to explore the creek area on foot. Plenty of wildlife to spot - wallabies, kangaroos, bird life and the occasional koala. In the creek there are some fish, yabbies and turtles. Set up camp, enjoy stunning sunsets, peace and quiet and the privacy of the secluded camp sites. Our location is perfect if you are first time campers or want to try out a new set up without venturing too far from home. 25mins drive will get you back to Toowoomba CBD. We are on black soil so our access road to the creek is dry weather only but is accessible by 2WD that have reasonable clearance. We loved staying few nights on John & Caz's - Evan-Camp. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay....the dogs loved walking around. Dark skies were fantastic near a fire. Plus it was quiet. Well kept and tidy sites. We meet the 2 horses, saw cattle and a few mobs of kangaroos. No gold....but there is always hope for next time

Weekend Trip to Pittsworth Camping
My Family (3 caravans, 6 adults and 4 children) had a lovely Easter weekend camping experience with Jason and Emma at Stones Throw Away. Jason is inspirational, having experienced and recovered from a devastating accident which nearly claimed his life. He is building a beautiful farm stay with lovely friendly dogs, goats, chickens, cows, many of whom ran to greet us when we arrived. We loved the daily feeding experience, rides on the quad, the campfires, and many other little things provided to make it a great experience for us all. Jason, thank you for sharing your story and your dreams for the future. We fully intend to visit again each year to see how things develop. It’s. beautiful property and you have every reason to be proud of it and yourselves.

Both being detectorist we heard about Evan camp opening up to campers and detecting so we decided to do a day trip there. We were so impressed with the new owners who showed us around giving us a bit of history and we found some pieces of gold. We are so grateful to these owners who open their properties to the public to enjoy these outdoor activities and definately will be back next time we are in Karara.

Absolutely loved our stay at Stones throw away with Jason. We only stopped overnight in between our road trip up north, but we could easily have stayed much longer!. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon and night with our 2 year old in between long days of driving!. Jason was SO friendly and caring and really went out of his way to ensure our daughter got to meet all of the animals and even help with some feeds!. We felt safe and secure and had access to both power and water which made it all so much easier!. We will definitely be back to see more of what Jason is working on in giving back to his community!. Keep up the good work Jason!. 👍

Hart Hill boasts a stunning 28 acres. Your initial view of the property coming over a Thanes Creek causeway is that of a magnificent rock face. However, 600m down the road, through the gate, and over the ridge, Hart Hill exposes a lovely undulating fold baring a huge panorama of flat alluvial ground that hugs Thanes Creek. Sprinkled with gums, the camping area is based west of the property in a stunning shady lea cooled by the creek and an old windmill for a backdrop. The properties history is colourful. In 1869 the area was a hub for gold diggers wanting to strike it lucky. Our five acre property on the edge of the Great Dividing Range escarpment is just 10-15 minutes from the Toowoomba CBD. Fantastic mountain and valley views, quiet rural location but just minutes from golf, supermarkets, takeaways, pubs, restaurants, parks and Toowoomba's famous Picnic Point. Your camp spot is a flat, grassy field with fantastic views and privately located on the block next to but away from the main house. Access is just off the road and down a slight grassy slope - suitable for 4WDs and most off road caravans or camper trailers. All guests must be fully self- contained with shower, water and toilet facilities. There is a tap with fresh rainwater which can be used for boiling the kettle, washing up etc (dependent on property water levels as we are completely tank water reliant). Please take all rubbish with you. PLEASE NOTE: Access to our site can be weather dependent. The slope onto the site can mean that if there has been significant rain getting back up the slope may be challenging, especially if towing a van or camper trailer. Generators are allowed, MUST be OFF by 8pm as a consideration to others. Our gates close at 4PM if you are unable to be in by 5PM you will have to unfortunately arrive the following day.
