Mountview is a very special place having been in the family for over 120 years. The working farm is 650 acres of grain cropping and also runs a productive Charolais beef cattle stud. A central stopover point an easy 15 minutes from Toowoomba city and only a few kilometers off the New England Highway. Great for couples and larger family groups. For those that may not be experienced campers onsite accommodation is also available in the fully renovated homestead for up to 8 guests. Explore the local area with so many attractions and places to discover including the Darling Downs Zoo, The Historical Bull and Barley Inn, Lavender fields, quaint little country towns, sunflower fields, hiking tracks and so much more. Enjoy wide open spaces with magnificent views. Watch stunning sunsets, toast marshmallows around the fire pit, watch the night sky for a dazzling display of stars, hike or say hello to the many Charolais cattle on the property. You will also have access to the facilities at the Ironbark Barn which include a pool table, television, kitchen and bar area, and hot shower and toilets. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, BBQ, dish-washing station and rubbish/recycling facilities. IMPORTANT; DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD ONTO THE PROPERTY IF YOU ARE IN A FIRE ANT ZONE. If you choose to find your own camping area please keep all fires contained. CURRENTLY CLOSED. We are a small 107 acre farm on the Great Dividing Range, a 10 minute drive from Toowoomba. Hopetoun Hills is a tranquil place to relax with water ducks, kangaroos, wallabies and all sorts of birds including the wedge tail eagles that come back to nest every year! Sadly in the drier months, our dam may not be full and the grass not green! YOU MUST BE FULLY SELF CONTAINED. You MUST have TOILET (that you take with you when you leave), and SHOWERING facilities. If you do not have these then we are very sorry but we can not accommodate you, and if you do arrive and don't have these facilities we can't allow you to stay. This is a health issue for other campers, ourselves and our stock. Our property is not suitable for young children due to the creek, dam, electric fencing and stock. We welcome dogs, although they must be kept on a lead and/or contained for the courtesy of other guests, and we have livestock such as cattle, calves, horses, a donkey and a bull who don't take well to strange dogs. There are a few places you may choose to camp and the spacious room allows privacy if you wish to have early nights/early mornings and not be too close to others. We don't allow party groups/parties due to the courtesy of other campers and we do ask that you remember; this is a farm not a caravan park, there are cattle and horses. We can provide potable water for campers staying more than a few days, or travelling on the road. You will require appropriate water jerry cans/drums or we can fill your tanks up directly from the shed. In the warmer months you can sleep with windows, doors and hatch's open in the tranquil country setting. Your caravan is not visible from the road, or accessible without passing the main residence if you wish to tour around our beautiful town and outlying area's. We're less than a ten minute drive from Kmart / Coles / Woolworths, although when you're here you would never know! There is so much to see in and around Toowoomba and the Darling Down's, from coffee shops, mural walks, bike paths through the beautiful parks and much more. We don't accept check in's after dark, so if you are going to be late please contact us with the mobile number provided within 24 hours prior to check in.

Weekend Trip to Glenelg Station

Loved that we were the only ones here. What a beautiful well maintained area. We enjoyed choosing one of a number of fire pits to set up our camp ovens. There was a port a loo available for use (which we did not use). We “wallowed” in the little rapids of the McIntyre Brooke to cool down and enjoyed watching the stars and satellites during the evening. What a perfect getaway. We laughed at the way the goats “frolicked “ on the rocks across the creek and enjoyed watching the Roos jumping past. Overall, wow , what a great place. ❣️

Beautiful place to stay, love the free roaming goats, wallabies, cows, sheep and emus. The river is full of tabbies and little shrimp and fish and lots of safe areas to let your kids go fishing. Water is deep enough to swim in, we even managed to get our kayaks in the water tho got stuck on rock in a few places.

What an amazing spot to camp! We were very fortunate to be here when the creek was in good flow and it was lovely and green around. I would 100% camp here again in a heartbeat! We saw so much wildlife and logged at least 20 bird species just watching from the camp. Super easy to get in and out, lovely short walks along the creek and up the hill. Heaps of timber around that’s easy to get to for campfires. So peaceful and private and it sure helped to have the separate loo handy too.

We absolutely loved our stay. The camping area is so beautiful and so well maintained. The amenities are top notch - clean and modern with 2 flushing toilets and a hot shower. The kids loved riding their bikes around and hanging out on the big swing looking out at the view. The sunsets did not disappoint here. Fire pits are provided and fire wood is available to purchase. The barn was great for the kids to hang out and play pool or do arts and craft. Katrina was welcoming and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax. With maximum 4 camp sites there really is so much peace to be had at Mountview. Thank you Katrina, for a lovely stay and a trip to remember for our family.

Just had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at Mountview Farmstay and didn't want to leave. The rural views in all directions are stunning - including magic sunsets. Nothing beats watching a sky full of stars while relaxing around your own camp fire. It's obvious how much effort has gone into creating an atmosphere of rustic charm for visitors with the repurposed old barn, working windmill, and old trucks and farm equipment strategically scattered around the camping area. Host Katrina is also warm and welcoming and really cares about making sure guests enjoy their stay. Highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in this part of SE Qld.

We enjoyed our time at Mountview, the views were great and the kids enjoyed being out and about - the swing, pool table and spotlight were winners. The fire pit got a work out - we cooked damper, toasted marshmellows and baked banana/chocolate/marshmellow splits for dessert. The amenities were lovely and clean, and only one other camper each night - so pretty private. Nice and close to Toowoomba - a great little stop if visiting for The Carnival of Flowers.

This was our second wonderful visit to Glenelg Station. The 2 Mile camp site is very peaceful and secluded. The wel-maintained camping area is huge with several possible tent/caravan sites. Some are shady and all have great views and direct access to the brook. Amanda is a responsive, friendly host and she shares lots of interesting info about the property. So rare to find a beautiful camping area where you can feel totally alone (apart from the cows, sheep, goats, wallabies, kangaroos, birds and frogs that is). It is a great spot to de-stress sitting around a campfire, watching the sunset and listening to the sounds of the bush. We checked out the cottages as well while we were there. They are all well appointed in rustic style complete with claw-foot bath on the verandahs. All are beautifully positioned with views over the brook. Thank you so much Amanda for another relaxing short break. Our dog enjoyed the get away just as much as we did!

We had a fantastic stay at this Hipcamp! The host was very welcoming and friendly, which made us feel right at home. Being a small farm stay with only a few campsites, it felt safe and secure — perfect for the kids, who loved having space to ride and play around the campground. The amenities were spotless and well maintained, which made our stay even more comfortable. We also loved that campfires were allowed, and being able to buy wood directly from the host was such a bonus, especially on a cold weekend. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Highly recommend this Hipcamp for families or anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great hospitality.
