The Twin Falls Circuit at the Canyon lookout is a 4km walk considered the region's best short hike, Purling Brook Falls circuit is spectacular waterfalls and cool ancient forests await you in the beautiful World Heritage-listed Gondwana rainforest of Springbrook National Park. If you've got time, detour on the Warringa Pool track, which leads downstream from the base of the falls; you'll add another 2 kilometres to the walk and need to allow another 40 minutes to return. Note that parts of this circuit are arduous, so check your fitness to the difficulty rating before you go. Best of all lookout Springbrook National Park has breathtaking lookouts, magnificent waterfalls, dense rainforest and ancient Antarctic beech trees. The park is part of Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area. These lookouts are often shrouded by cloud, even when the weather is fine and sunny on the coast. For the best views, visit on clear, smoke-free days. Apple Tree Park Apple Tree Park forms part of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk and is just one of many entry points. The starting point for the walk is the Settlement Campground at Purlingbrook Falls. The walk is a 54-kilometre trek through the beautiful Springbrook rainforest. You can do a much smaller distance if you prefer and still take in the great views and tranquillity of the rainforest. Pack your walking shoes, a hat and drink bottle and enjoy. See the birds, hear them chirping, be amazed at the beautiful historic trees. This spectacular location is just 29 kilometres from Mudgeeraba, at the top of the Springbrook range and is the access point for many of the amazing walks in the Springbrook area. Weekend Trip to LoveNature Glamping Hut

Back for our second stay and LoveNature continues to impress. The outdoor firepit made chilly evenings magical and the amenities are spot on - equipped outdoor undercover kitchenette, hotplate, bar fridge, utensils - so you can settle in straight away. Easy access to Springbrook cafes and walks. We'll be back!

Where to go

North Coast

If it’s the Gold Coast theme parks you’re here for, stay as close as possible to the action by staying in Helensvale. Those looking to escape into nature can enjoy the unspoilt beauty of South Stradbroke Island. As you can only reach the island by boat, Tipplers, North, and South Currigee campgrounds are limited to tents only.

Central Coast

To stay close to the surf breaks, shopping strip, and entertainment in Surfers Paradise, consider the Southport area, home to many family-friendly spots. Just down the coast, more campgrounds are tucked into the sand dunes of Miami.

South Coast

The southern coastal communities of Currumbin and Coolangatta each offer inviting stretches of beach and laid-back vibes. You can soak up authentic Aussie surf culture in Coolangatta, home to the epic swells of Kirra Beach, and enjoy watersports and hiking around Currumbin. Just over the New South Wales border, you’ll find more campgrounds with direct beach access.

Hinterland

Swap the coast for the wild beauty of the Gold Coast Hinterland, home to Lamington and Springbrook national parks, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites where you can explore ancient rainforests. Nightfall Camp offers a secluded wilderness getaway in Lamington National Park with extras comforts—this luxury glamping experience features safari tents with bathtubs, fireplaces, rain showers, and organic meals. A more basic experience is on offer at The Settlement, Springbrook National Park’s only campground: This small site is a short walk from Purling Brook Falls and has just toilets, drinking water, and barbecues facilities.
