There is a variety of bird life and wildlife. Trevethan Falls is just a short walk away. Finish the day around your open campfire. The property has had changes to 3 sites which happened on December the 17th 2023 at around 6am in the Morning we were awoken to the sounds of timber and dirt hitting the house and in a matter of 2 hrs sites 1 /2 and 3 were totally destroyed and the Trevethan Creek was directed through our property, This event was a Landslide from the top of the Moutain which went through the Trevethan Falls and the trees and dirt got caught up in a bottle neck down from the falls. We already had 3 .5 Meters of rain in 4 days! the bottle neck broke out at 6 am hitting us like a freight train and the rest is a good story to tell around a fireplace. We are working hard to clean up sites 1 /2 and 3 which I can see results. Site 1 is open and is very good with water running by the site/ Site 2 is open and we are currently doing work on the new site 2 / Site 3 is currently moved until we clean up the old site. We have a new Site which is Site7 on the creek and very private and Site 4 on the dam and Sites 5 and 6 are bush camps and are very Private. We are hoping to see the tree Kangaroos coming back as well which are good viewing from Midnight on wards to 3 am. Please come and stay we have more sites planed for the future. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is also a hobby farm in operation on the property, so you may hear and see the workings of the farm as you explore. We are confident that once you discover this place, you'll return time and time again.

Bring your tent, car, caravan or motor home...... there is plenty of room! The Meadow is located in a sleepy little rural area at the end of a road, so there is no through traffic and quite private. There is an abundance of wild life wandering through from the rainforest to the neighboring cattle property including a huge range of birds, numerous wallaby's, and the occasional cassowary. I do have a couple of resident cows on the property. Stewie is extremely friendly and will come to the fence for a pat and will love you even more if you feed him a slice of bread or a carrot. He has no spacial awareness though, so please don’t enter his paddock….. it is pretty scary having a 600kg “puppy” with very big horns bounding toward you wanting to play! The water is tank/bore which is fine for drinking and I am happy for you to fill your water tanks during your stay but I do ask that you use it sparingly…….. no washing of vehicles or vans please 🙏 With only 1 site, you will absolutely not be crowded in. There are no toilet or shower facilities available so you will need to be fully self contained. This is the perfect base to explore all that the Daintree, Port Douglas and Atherton Tablelands areas have on offer. Julatten Hotel is a great spot for a cold drink and a lovely meal, with live music on the weekends. 9 Mile Store is 2km from your site and has fuel, some groceries items and takeaway food if you don’t feel like cooking. Mossman is only 18km away for most other supplies and services.

Loved our stay at the Cow Shed! Belinda was lovely, the property was beautiful and the donkeys, Mary and Jemima, were just gorgeous. We spent many hours patting them, particularly Mary who was the sweetest soul. There’s a tree in the corner with rope swings for the kids. The property is just up the road from beautiful Cow Bay and it’s a fantastic base to explore north of the river. The paddock is spacious, but we have a 25ft caravan and only JUST made it in, it’s tight navigating around the fences etc. Took some very skilled manoeuvring to get back out again when we left. Listing states vehicles up to 20m but you wouldn’t have a hope of getting something that big in. I confirmed before we arrived that there was a water hookup on the site as per the listing. This is incorrect, which we discovered through much confusion. Belinda is happy for you to fill your tanks from their bore, but you cannot remain hooked up to water as it redirects the water from her house. So it’s a water fill point (on request - if she is available), not a water hook up. We would happily stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Mowbray Meadows

Wow, what a find! Set on several acres there are only 4 sites, all level, so there is a huge amount of room. It is in a well maintained rural setting with a magnificent rainforest mountain backdrop. Chrissy and Trevor were wonderful hosts who could not have been more helpful. They offered a water top up when we arrived and even a couple of hours of electrical hook up if we were low on power. We were even invited for drinks and a BBQ! All this and only 5 minutes to Port Douglas township. Incredible. I could not recommend Mowbray Meadows enough. Brilliant stay.

We really enjoyed our night at this unique property - it was like staying in your own botanical garden! A world away from all the crowded and commercial caravan parks in the area. And extremely convenient for visiting Mossman Gorge as well. Thank you!

We stayed at The Lake House at Billy's camp. Its was a beautiful spot on grassy flat ground right overlooking the creek. The creek was so clear and a good swimming spot for us and our puppies. Would definately recommend this camp 🏕

4 nights at Mowbray Meadows

We are currently travelling around Australia and have stayed at plenty of Hip camps and Mowbray Meadows is right up there, Chrissy & Trevor made us feel welcome before we even arrived and went over and above to make sure everything was spot on. The location is perfect, close enough to Port Douglas, Mossman and the Daintree but also far enough away from the crowds. Water available on site and a dump point around 1km away is a real bonus and plenty’s of space between us and other campers on this beautiful property. We would 100% recommend Mowbray Meadows to anyone who’s looking for a great value. Thank you Chrissy & Trevor for having us, if we are ever back this way we will make sure we catch up.

Weekend Trip to Mowbray Meadows

Do not miss this hidden gem! Chrissy and Trev are awesome hosts and their property is beautiful. Dogs are welcome and our doggo loved the grass to roll and sun herself on. Trees and mountains are your view to wake up to. Pt Douglas is very close making this an excellent base to explore from …. Or just sit and enjoy the view. Would definitely recommend and would come back again. Thanks Chrissy and Trev

Absolutely beautiful & peaceful listening to the birds & running water in the creek. The campsites are on the banks of the creek & the water is crystal clear. The site is close to Mossman but felt very private & the directions made it easy to find.

We were the first people to stay at Mowbray Meadows. What a wonderful property , so close to Port Douglas yet the backdrop of the mountains makes you feel like your somewhere else. The sites are huge so you won't feel crowded and you could not have asked for friendlier or more helpful hosts. Thank you Trevor and Chrissy for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back. We would highly recommend this property to future hipcampers.

We enjoyed 3 nights at this beautiful, quiet, peaceful , private spot in Mowbray Valley in our caravan. Power and water , fantastic value. Close to Port Douglas with a dump point close by. Phil was very welcoming. Highly recommend and would stay again.
