Weekend Trip to Middle Camp Berry Springs

We absolutely loved our stay at Middle Camp! It’s a fantastic place to camp with dogs, and we really appreciated that they allow more than just one or two—we were able to bring our three pups without any hassle. The owners clearly take pride in maintaining the campground, as everything was beautifully kept and spotlessly clean. Unlike most places at this time of year where the grass is usually dry and crunchy, the grounds at Middle Camp were lush, green, and soft—an absolute treat! The amenities were outstanding—clean, modern, and comfortable. The warm showers had a fresh, updated feel, and it was great to have access to a washing machine if needed. It made the whole camping experience feel a bit more luxurious. We also loved the location. It’s super close to Berry Springs Tavern, making it the perfect spot to set up camp while exploring Berry Springs and even taking a trip to the wildlife park. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, with enough space and privacy that we hardly noticed our neighbors. We felt comfortable and safe throughout our stay. We’ll definitely be back! Middle Camp exceeded our expectations and made for a memorable and enjoyable getaway.

1 night at Wells Creek Retreat

We were Mel's first guests and she couldn't do enough for us. She was super welcoming and her property is a gorgeous oasis about 2kms from Coles, Woolies, Kmart, mechanics and fuel at Coolalinga. Not far from Darwin city and Berry Springs. Easy day trip to Litchfield from here too. Site 2 is huge and offers lots of shade or open grass areas depending on what you prefer. Bit of bushland seperating the two sites on offer, so feels private. Gorgeous little creek to splash in and some lovely green grass for my pup to roll around on, as only just coming out of the wet season. Designated fire places to relax by. Walking tracks nearby too if you fancy a stretch of the legs. We even saw two kangaroos at dusk! Dog and tent friendly which is great! We will be back for sure! :-)

What a great oasis in a suburban area of Darwin. Pete went out of his way to assist us. The enterance is hidden and looks tight for van, but all good as Pete guides you in. It's very private and safe with a beautiful range of trees and birds. Highly recommend stay at urban retreat.

We only planned on staying one night but ended up staying 3! The perfect base to explore Berry Springs and Litchfield National Park. The kids loved riding their bikes along the walking track. Would definitely stay again, thanks Greg!

An absolute gem, the last thing you expect to find driving through the Darwin suburbs is Pete's little native sanctuary.. Ended up extending my stay, Will definitely be my go to when coming through Darwin in the future!. Pete is a well organised Super host! With great knowledge of the local area. We love rolling out the swag at Middle Camp! Our family loves camp 3 closest to the dam, it's a favourite for the little ones. The amenities are always clean and convenient. I am pretty sure I have camped at all 4 sites, as a family and solo.. and absolutely will go back during the dry season, as it's not too far out from the city. The camp is well looked after and it's close to berry springs pub and all the water spots in Litchfield!

Another great stay, thank you. Large space with both shade and sun for those chasing the rays for their solar. Fantastic clean amenities and even a couple of undercover areas to eat or relax. A number of fire pits to choose from. Fully fenced and secure. Thanks for another great stay. We will be back.

What a fantastic spot for a getaway, short walk to the beach and local country club. Stephen’s property was incredibly spacious and well-equipped. We had two vans, four adults, and three dogs, yet there was still plenty of room. The fully fenced yard was perfect for letting the dogs run free. Highly recommend!

The Urban Retreat

Darwin is the gateway to the amazing Kakadu National Park. There are many popular waterfront areas with several beaches and green areas like Bicentennial Park. While sightseeing, make sure you visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, displaying Southeast Asian and Pacific art. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some good fishing and mountain biking spots. We are located on a 5-acre block on the edge of town. The top 2 acres are laid out in a tropical garden setting, with the other 3 acres set out with native Darwin plants visited by lots of native animals and birds. You'll feel like you're a whole world away yet you will only be 2 minutes from the supermarket, 5 minutes from a large shopping centre, and 15 minutes from Darwin's CBD. We are a small boutique site and only have currently 3 sites on the 5 acres. Your site is private and you will be able to enjoy your stay without interference from others. IMPORTANT: Each site can accommodate 2 adults MAX. If you have 3 or 4 adults, you will need to book both sites. Please note Pool site is open all year round and has permanent cover. Other sites are dependant on weather and access.

Strangy's Place

The weather is warm and the site behind our pool is a nice space to be! It is lovely to be in a space where you are the only camper! The tropical gardens provide privacy and abundant bird life. The property is safe and secluded in the rural suburb of Virginia. We are situated in the Darwin Rural area on 5 acres of bush land with tropical gardens and a saltwater swimming pool. There is a variety of bird life, lizards, frogs, and possums. You can feed our friendly butcher birds and King Fishers on the fly from our verandah or pool area. Sit with the fish pond and chat with the turtle who is very shy! We have dogs that live at the property so pets on application only. (we do have a dog cage available if required and can pet sit for a day if required ) We have caravan sites for fully self-contained caravans and unpowered sites in the horse yard. There is a single shower / toilet block available at the top of the driveway. We do have power to some sites, and we would appreciate it if you do not leave air conditioners running while you are off site. If you are travelling in a group, we can accommodate you in a large open area if your group would like to stay together. Each caravan site has its own fireplace for your use. Only 5 minutes from Palmerston or Coolalinga, 25 minutes from Darwin CBD. If you are looking for a local fishing tour, we can hook you up with the locals. We have many fishing and crabbing locations close by on the Elizabeth River, Middle Arm or around Darwin Harbour. Local Fred's Pass Food and Craft Markets are open Saturday and Wednesday night music and food
