I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food.

With over 600 acres of Australian bush, our property is ideal for campers that want their own space. We are completely off-grid (no wifi to distract you) and we run off tank water (for this reason showers are only available for two hours in the evening). There are multiple camp sites on the property - some are close to hot showers and toilets, others are within a short walking distance. Some sites are perfect for our self sufficient campers who might want a nice private location and don't need access to amenities.
There are two shared camp kitchen areas (with pizza ovens and bbqs). We have two amenities blocks with toilets and hot showers and two further compost toilets located at other sites. Campfires are permitted in designated areas (check with us when booking) and firewood can be added to your booking - we do require at least 24 hours notice if you want wood.
There are lots of old-style games for the kids such as cricket, tennis, playground, bikes available, a swim in the dam and general country running around fun! Unfortunately we no longer have our flying fox, but there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy. We have some great bush walking areas where you might be lucky enough to see our resident wombats or our breeding pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles.
The property dates back to the early 1900s and there are numerous historic buildings on the property. The earliest is a wooden slab hut that was built around the beginning of the 19th century - the Goulburn Penny Post newspaper, dated 3 December 1904 lines the walls of the hut. It also has a two shearing stand wooden shed built by Marcus Dawe in 1922.

A beautiful quiet location to stay. Close to a lot of amenities, such as Bakery, Wineries, Gundaroo, Mulligan's Flat Reserve and Gunghalin shops.
Sutton has a world class bakery, we recommend chicken and leek or pepper steak pies. Gundaroo has an old world pub with local wines and food. The old police station at Gundaroo has been converted to a gourmet pizza restaurant, there is also an excellent restaurant named Grazing. There is also Eagle Hawke pub, which is very popular. There are numerous wineries nearby including Gundog at Gundaroo and all of the many Murrumbateman wineries.
Water refill and waste disposal is available at Queanbeyan showground.
The Mulligans Flat Reserve, about 10 minutes away, is a real first in Australia, given that a very large area has been set aside near Canberra to foster wildlife. A walk through the reserve is well worth while. Check it out.

Wombat Flats is made up of private paddocks with dams.
Wooded but with cleared area.. 2wd vehicle access. 4x4 access to mulloon creek with large open space
Land was Virgin bushland but burnt in fires in 2019. Come and see the amazing regeneration! The property is now heavily wooded and overgrown so no marked trail but are happy for you to walk and explore and find hidden natural treasures. This part of the property is being used a nature corridor for wildlife hance the untouched grounds. Lots of rock formation and quartz for you geo type to find and study.
3 dams for swimming and amazing scenery.
Need to be self sufficient, We live on the property so we are happy help and make your stay enjoyable.
Good mobile reception
Bungendore is 20 min away. Canberra is an easy commute.
We own the land and live in main house (stock standard mum dad and a couple of kids)

We parked up on the far side (south side) of the dam. It was a little more private and quiet. Found an amazing bakery close by called Little Sutton Bakehouse. Does great coffee and breakkie as well as pastries etc.

Great camp site in a great location near the forest. Modern toilet and wash basin. It was quiet and we grabbed the site nearest the gazebo which had chairs and large table. I’ll be back for sure. Thanks!!

The loo with a view was clean and the two showers were big, clean and well set up to have a dry space for belongings.

My husband and I had a great time camping at Miklos's with our dog. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros
- Quiet and relaxing. No reception, campfires and lots of reading time. Feels remote with the unsealed road on the way in but also only 30min from Bungendore.
- Firewood provided
- Great fresh eggs
- Good clean bathroom (toilet/sink only)
- Very close to a large state forest where there are nice walks and lookouts
- Mik is a lovely guy!
- Black cockatoos in the morning
Cons
- Creek is overgrown and dammed at the crossing and so swimming sadly not possible
- Property smaller than we expected. The campsite is still a fair way from the house but don't be expecting an expansive property that you can go for a walk around.
- It hadn't rained in a while so tank water at the camp area was out but Mik kindly brought us over a 20L bottle. I'd probably bring some drinking water next time in case.
Overall a great time, thanks for having us!

We absolutely loved our time at scribbly gum! We stayed at site 4. The scenery was beautiful, river not to far from camp wildlife all around even a little wombat came out to visit regularly 😍 Phil & family were amazing hosts nice friendly and even willing to lend a swag as the tent was broke 😅

It’s always so peaceful at box grove and so much for the kids to do. We enjoyed spotting many different types of birds and waking up with kangaroos all around. The dam is great to cool down in on a hot summers day and at night the starts are spectacular. Karen and Jo are wonderful hosts often surprising us with some lovely treats.

We had an amazing glamping experience! The host and service were excellent—very welcoming and thoughtful. The place is peaceful and perfectly located in the middle of nature, which made it truly relaxing. The host generously provided lots of free firewood and fresh eggs, which was a lovely touch. The tent was spacious and comfortable and my dog enjoyed the stay even more than we did! We were also given free BBQ equipment and gas, which made our evenings even better. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm getaway close to nature. Just make sure to bring enough drinking water.

The location is 15mins away from Canberra. We booked this spot after camping south, on our way back to Sydney but wanted to stop over to visit Canberra. The site was full of overnight campers that made the place so alive. The clear skies, stars and the bright moon was so lovely.

Lovely quiet spot; don’t tell anyone. Sunset and sunrise from the big hill highly recommended and the view is spectacular. Had a bath on the way up, met the cows but the sheep were shy. Will happily return.

Quiet, private and surrounded by bushland. The river was accessible easily. We were fortunate to grab the last one of only 5 sites during the busy post-Xmas period. Loved staying here! Highly recommend if you love simple secluded bush camping.

This was my second time camping here, and I really enjoy this place. It’s very peaceful and ideal for a relaxing escape. The only drawbacks are that the toilet is quite far, there’s no drinking water available, and the road is very dusty. Firewood was not permitted during our stay, but we still had a great time overall. A lovely spot for those who come prepared and appreciate quiet, natural surroundings.
