We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area.
Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront.
We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank.
The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 8 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking.
The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control.
We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided.
Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish.
The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.

The forest has a beautiful creek and waterfall, perfect for a day trip.
The property is conveniently located 1 hour from Sydney and just a 2 minute drive to groceries, food and a pharmacy and 7 minutes from the pub and a doctor.
A 30 minutes form town and close to attractions such as Glenworth Valley and Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary. Also Markets every 2nd and 4th Weekend.
The site currently does not have toilets or electrical facilities, but something we are working on. So please bring your own toilet and take with you.

We have 4 horses, two dams, nice outlook, Clean tank water is available and picnic table can be provided. Please note we can no longer offer bathroom facilities. Also grey water is not allowed to be emptied on the property.
As we have horses, dogs must be on a leash.

Great spot away from everything. Hut was great for some shelter with fans as it was 39deg during our stay. Unfortunately the river was a bit dirty to swim too long during our stay but would be awesome when the water is cleaner. Only issue we had, on about 5 occasions over the weekend we had cars stopping on the road next to the property and turn all their lights and off for a few minutes at a time, was a little creepy as there is no reason to be stopping. Overall had a fun time though

We suppose to stay three night but had to make our way home after two nights due to caravan issue.
The directions were simple, roads in were great.
We will be definitely return here again .

Lovely spot. The shade was perfect for the hot days. The kitchen made things much easier and was a good hideaway for the kids when we got a heavy storm with hail. The undercover seating area was helpful too, just be aware it is not weather proof. There was no water in the river unfortunately which made the hot days hard but a quick 15min drive to St Albans was perfect for a dip and a drink at the pub. Just to note - large dirt/dust area which became a mud pit with rain. Watch for low lying areas when pitching your tent as they all flooded with rain. We loved our stay and would recommend. I imagine this would be a great winter camping spot!

We had a good experience here. It was secluded and quiet. Big open space with a nice view. We didn't have a 4wd, but we made it work. Just wouldn’t recommend if there is a lot of rain. Good location to go back and forth from exploring the central coast. Helpful and easy going host.
