On the Stone River Retreat

1 site · RV, Tent100 acres · Bathurst, NSW
Unwind in the seclusion of this private and safe bush camping site on the banks of the Wambuul-Macquarie River in the remote Killongbutta valley located half-way between Bathurst and Orange. It’s a place where time stands still. Enabling you to reconnect with nature as you slow down and embrace the sounds of the river, wildlife and sheoaks when they ‘whisper secrets to the wind’. Many stories and dreamings have come from this place which guarantees to inspire your imagination as an artist, writer, poet or musician. You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and firewood is supplied. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes, chainsaws, and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. We look forward to providing exclusive access to our river site for campers who will appreciate and respect this place which is our home.

The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience. If you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to come and camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 14 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park All sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Note: The National Park holds their annual wild dog baiting program from 20/5/24 - 8/10/24 Which is done along our boundary on Bow River. It is safer not to have your dog in this area at this time. If you decide to, make sure it is kept on leash at all times and doesn't eat anything that could be laying around. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions and cut firewood is available for $10 per/bundle, cash only. There is an abundance of wildlife; Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Foxes, Emu's, water Dragons, Turtles, Fish, Goanna's, Lizards, Snakes, Echidna's, Eagles and plenty of Birds to see. For the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park, with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs with caves and open areas. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD access as it is steep with loose gravel. "Gully View Campsite" is the closest site to the property entrance. It is ideal for people who will be travelling back and forwards from the property to attend other events. It is also ideal for those travelling in groups who want to be together but to also have their own private space to set up in for some time-out. It can also be set up as a communal campground for large groups. There are plenty of trails for Horse Riding (you will need to provide your own temporary fencing). Guests are required to be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. At certain times some sites may be unavailable due to Cattle grazing in the same paddock. Cows are very curious and can be destructive to your vehicle and belongings. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone. Bellandre Park

2 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents3060 acres · Molong, NSW
We are Marilyn and Peter, we own, live and run a mixed farming business from this beautiful land, located in the Central Tablelands NSW. The country varies between undulating and steep land and has 7 km of double frontage Bell River running through it. The river can range from rapidly flowing to the more usual steady flowing and is most often very clear. The river has numerous swimming spots, some with a rocky base, and some with sand. The winding river and the varying countryside is incredibly peaceful and beautiful and is a perfect retreat for those looking to disconnect and relax. The river has its origin near Orange and is also fed into by many springs. Weandre Creek runs in the backcountry and winds into the Bell River. Our comfortable Hut is situated on an elevated spot looking down on the river with a graduated road leading down. It has everything you need for a relaxing, recharging stay in nature. The Hut can accommodate up to 4 people, however, you also have the option for up to 6 additional guests to set up swags, tents, or a camper trailer nearby. There is space next to the Hut, or for those with a 4WD, there are some lovely camping sites down by the river. We also offer sites for those looking for a self-contained camping site, in a beautiful location. We love the solitude, the endless bush walks, swimming, and being immersed in nature. We are confident you will too. We also have a lovely art gallery on the property, and for a small fee and prior arrangement, you are welcome to come and take a look. From our farm, it is 60 km to Orange with all its wineries, food festivals, and many attractions. Wellington is 40 km and boasts the Wellington Caves. Dubbo is 90 km and is a big inland city and boasts the Western Plains Zoo. We are so glad to let you know we have a new (but intentionally rustic) structure which houses a shower powered by gas and solar with gravity fed water. Showers need to be short because water supply is limited. In a separate space is a gas BBQ and sink. This is pictured in our latest photos. This building also looks down on the Bell river which looks sensational at the moment due to all the rain.
