Wander along the river banks just enjoying the serenity of the location and witness platypus feeding, water dragons sunning themselves and the brown trout fly feeding and one of Australia's beautiful but lesser known native rodents, Rakali (intelligent semi aquatic water rat who's scientific name translates to golden -bellied water mouse). One of Australia's two aquatic mammals, the platypus being the other. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. IF NO CHEMICAL TOILET, DIG A HOLE AT LEAST 30CM DEEP . There is access to a drinking water supply (mountain river water), or you can bring your own water. After heavy rain you may need to boil/filter for drinking. You will need a 4WD to access the campsites closest to the river as there is a shallow gully crossing. Camper trailer or off road pop up campers will be able to negoiate the tracks. Good clearance necessary to pass over one gully crossing. Dogs are welcome, however, we do run sheep in an adjoining paddock so they need to stay close to your camp. Kids aged 16 and under camp for free. There is a dedicated campfire pit so you can stay warm on chilly evenings (please check to see if there is a seasonal fire ban in place). Fire wood can be provided - chainsaws are permitted but be mindful of structures that are animal habitats. Your family may enjoy taking a bushwalk that takes you around the 300 acre native bush paddock. "Duck Downs" Snowy Mountains

Rolling hills, Quite still. Few trees, Much to see. Many granite rocks, Like sheep in flocks. Natural sounds, At ‘Duck Downs’. T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometers from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. We are located 30 minutes drive south east of Jindabyne and 40 minutes drive south west of Cooma. There is a flush toilet and fresh drinking water is available at our dispersed sites. Caravans can easily be filled up via garden hose and if on one of the remote sites this can be done easily prior to settling in. We have a mowed loop track giving easy access from each site to stroll to the top of the hill, walk the dog or enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner, son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi, Myonie the Moodle and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's my peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. Well that's just a sample of some of the things you can do but if all that sounds like too much, just put your feet up and have a rest at your campsite!! P.S. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. Telstra 4G coverage on the property, limited Optus coverage.

We prefer you not to collect your own wood (other than starter sticks/branches) as we are trying to maintain logs, branches, ground cover on the ground for native birds, lizards, etc. Private outdoor yoga sessions are available if booked in advance or you can book into the local classes on Thursday nights. All camp fees are being used to rehabilitate our property with plants that are native to our area and restore the land.

We have several sites for 100% self-contained campers, where you'll be spoilt with spectacular views of the Tinderry Mountains, access to undulating walking trails, and the Namadgi National Park nearby. On clear nights, the stars here are spellbinding. We have many animals here too! View our placid Scottish Galloway cattle (currently with calves!) pat our friendly poddy Cody and grab a photo opportunity. We also have a beautiful horse Ali and her yearling colt diesel, just watch your fingers with him, gelded now but still thinks he’s a stallion. 5 fat Dorper sheep look like running rugs running around. A real country experience! An Angora goat and slashed tracks to access the beautiful 130 acres around the farm. The small village of Michelago is 5km from our property, has the fuel servo and a terrific General Store, which serves great burgers and milkshakes plus much more. 20mins to the town of Bredbo with its own pub is great for counter lunches and dinners. The Town of Cooma, the gateway to the Snowy mountains is a 40 min drive south. Also if you want to go camping with friends and introduce them to the great outdoors and they don’t have the gear ask about our hire service of all things needed to have a great camp, some are listed but more is always available to hire, just send me a message. We have a composting toilet available for campers to use. Mobile phone reception in the area is around 3-4 bars 4G on Optus and 3-4 bars 3G on Telstra. Please bring your own wood for camp fires or you can purchase a barrow of bush wood from us in the extras. We prefer you not to collect your own wood (other than starter sticks/branches) as we are trying to maintain logs, branches, ground cover on the ground for native birds, lizards, etc. Private outdoor yoga sessions are available if booked in advance or you can book into the local classes on Thursday nights. All camp fees are being used to rehabilitate our property with plants that are native to our area and restore the land.

This is a great camp spot that’s easy to get to and close to town making it an easy stop on the way to the mountains. Well behaved pets are always welcome but we are a working farm so please make sure your pet is under control at all times. No toilet facilities so please take your trash with you and make sure you have a camp toilet. There is a dedicated camp fire site when restrictions are not in place.
