Since the highway bypass (we were on the old Pacific Highway) the highway noise has been removed. Whilst it has always been a beautiful location, we can now add tranquil to the list. If you have stayed in the past and found it too noisy, or been put off by the proximity to the highway, then come and experience the difference. You won’t be disappointed.
An ideal base to explore the Nambucca Valley, Coffs Harbour, Bellingen, Dorrigo and discovering the delights of the area.

From vertiginous sandstone cliffs on which epipetrics cling tight,
right through to palm-filled rainforests, and with two quite different creek systems (including a monster waterfall),
you'll be spoiled for things to do and
places to explore - without even leaving the property!
HISTORY
This land is Gumbaynggirr land. Please be particularly mindful of our First Nation's long presence on this land.
In the 1800's, white men came
seeking Red Cedar, closely followed by settlers having a go at dairying; though logging
has remained this area's mainstay. This special property, despite last being selectively logged about 50 years ago, hosts many huge old-growth trees
remaining steadfast for your discovery and wonder. And many more are continuing to
grow out too.
About 35 years ago
about nine of this property's eastern-most 104 acres became part of a far larger nashi pear orchard which filled much of the flats of
this top end of the valley that you see today.
Ultimately they failed to set good commercial fruit, and the rootstocks took over.
You can see remnant rows of these trees just south of the property, from along the road. (Beware though -
they have spikes that could
puncture Caterpillar tracks!)
MORE RECENTLY extensive lantana control efforts have been undertaken as we now move into revegetating with native species and implementing a permaculture plan.
Today the property is registered with Land For Wildlife and hosts a very wide mix of native vegetation communities.

My girlfriend and I had such a beautiful weekend away at this Hipcamp. It truly felt like our own private sanctuary. The highlight was the secluded waterfall and champagne pool; absolutely stunning and such a special place to swim, relax, and take in the surroundings. Having something so magical just a short walk from camp made the stay unforgettable.
The campsite itself was well maintained, spacious, and thoughtfully cared for, offering the perfect balance between comfort and immersion in nature.
Rob was a fantastic host, welcoming, helpful, and generous with firewood. He also provided a clear map to the waterfall, which made exploring easy and enjoyable.
The peace and quiet were exactly what we needed. Falling asleep to birdsong, insects, and the gentle sound of the breeze flowing through the trees was the perfect soundtrack to unwind.
We left feeling refreshed and grateful. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful, nature-filled escape.

We loved camping at Rod's place. A lovely drive to get there, peaceful surroundings lots of wildlife. Grassy patches to set up camp and large fire pit provided.
Close drive to Scouts Falls and the beaches.
We were able to take a hike on Rod's property to get to some waterfalls and enjoy swimming in the waterholes.
Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible and magical part of NSW that we were lucky enough to experience. The camp sites are very well set out and meticulously maintained. The experiences and extras Rod offers are well thought of and planned. Rod's knowledge of the land and and his attention to detail in maintaining this magical place is just incredible. The waterfalls are breathtakingly beautiful and we were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. If I could give a 100 star rating, I would. Thank you Rod for having us! We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Akaroa campsite on Phoranna Farm. Andrew was a fantastic host and a great communicator from start to finish, which made everything easy and stress free.
The campsite itself is incredibly private and very spacious, especially impressive for a single site. It truly feels like you have your own little piece of the countryside, with plenty of room to relax and unwind. We only stayed for one night, but we really enjoyed our time there and wished we could have stayed longer. The $20 load of firewood was excellent value and more than enough for a cozy fire in the evening, with plenty left over for the next morning. It really added to the experience. The pit toilet was also a pleasant surprise. It was very clean and did not smell at all, which is not always the case with outdoor facilities. Overall, this is a peaceful and well maintained campsite with thoughtful touches and a great host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and private camping experience at the Akaroa site.

We loved Yarralen Retreat. I stayed 2 nights with my two boys. The eclectic camp ground has everything you need, including a shared fridge, cooking facilities, flushing toilets and hot showers, so you can pack light. The camp sites are nice and flat and the shower/toilet area is kept clean and tidy. We saw wallabies hopping about and other native birds. We stayed in peak season but we were still far enough away from others so it felt quiet and private. All the other campers we encountered were lovely and considerate.
It’s only 10mins drive to Grassy Head Beach which is beautiful. There are also plenty of places to eat at Scott’s Head.
I would definitely stay here again. Thanks to Julie for sharing your beautiful part of this country with us.

Eclectic Campgrund had a great kitchen with everything you need with recycled material and furniture. The gas stove doesn't work efficiently (due to using LPG bottles?). The showers were great with nice hot water. The biggest problem we had was the water quality. It was brown and we didn't want to drink. Overall, it was a lovely spot with a swimming pool.

We were looking for a secluded place to set up camp on our way back to Sydney. We camped at watermelon flat, it was everything we could ask for. Rod welcomed us along with Reddy the dog that came and greeted us each morning.
You Must do the walk to the waterfall it’s truely a hidden paradise to behold. Worth the adventure. Campsite was well maintained and the stars are wonderful at night. The nearby town Glenreagh is such a hidden gem be sure to check out the bakery and say hi to the team there!
