Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground. All river access points are shared, be mindful of others. As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family, all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way. The property is located 3kms from the small town of Bodalla, it is just over 100 acres sitting on the banks of Lake Borang (which flows into the Tuross River and Tuross Lake) and the fishing is great all year round. It's also a fantastic waterway for boating and paddling. The property is mainly bush with lots of wildlife including emus, wallabies, kangaroos and the birdlife is abundant. Part of the property is a working goat and bee farm. We move the goats around the property so there will be times when the goats are close to the campsite.

Quiet place in a nice forest with many kangaroos in the evening. The lake is walking distance from the site, unfortunately the way to the greenglade beach is unpaved. The accomodations are clean.

Great flat spot for car camping. We had a Subaru Outback and navigated the road in just fine. The lake is just a 5 min walk away perfect for SUP or kayaking a little murky for swimming when I was there. Beautiful quiet spot lots of birdlife! Thanks

Fantastic quiet spot with gorgeous views. The creek is just beautiful and only a very short walk away. Our dog loved having a swim. Ben was great showing us where to go on arrival and giving us great details as to where we could go for walks. Paula brought down some firewood shortly after too. Very good hosts! Highly recommend

Thanks so much Mel, we had a lovely time on your property. Our 2 big dogs loved a swim in the lake which was really well signed for us to find our way for the short walk there. Where we camped there was already a fireplace ready to go and plenty of shrub around to find enough wood to light our fire. So peaceful and native birds and fairy wrens sang around us as the sun set! Thanks so much.

Very easy to follow access instructions. Big open space for tents (& cars). Fire pit had wood supplied & toilet was clean. River not great for swimming but good for fishing apparently (we didn’t fish). Private, natural space.

I stayed here for a very relaxing 3 weeks. The place was very quiet and the creek a lovely place to relax, wash and collect drinking water. I was so lucky to just get the end of the mandarin season at their orchard which has plenty of different fruits available.Bemboka is a lovely little town as was Bega. Ben, Paula and Joe were all lovely and I truly appreciate them having me for the time I was here. Definitely recommend!!
