Easy access to the river to swim, fish, kayak or canoe. A short two minute drive (approx 3kms) to the beautiful Blue Hole Picnic Area and Gara Gorge offers swimming, picnic seating, BBQ and bush walking in a scenic bush setting with clean toilets. Armidale is home to many gorges and national parks like no other region. Dangars falls is a stunning waterfall with a picnic area. This rural property suits self sufficient campers only with own drinking water and shower/toilet amenities. All campers must take their rubbish with them leaving no trace - no bins provided. "Glendawn" is a small farming/ cattle grazing property with many beaut spots for camping. There are 2 sites with access to power and a few others without. It's a great place to get away but not too far from town. Fire pits and some firewood provided. We have a powered site in the old Woolshed. The Woolshed has had some modifications. It has a camp kitchen, hot and cold running water, toilet & shower. There is a fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, gas BBQ, outdoor fire pit, chairs, power and lighting. Large central area indoors. Its a delightful spot in the paddock to enjoy being "in the country". The woolshed itself is 2WD accessible. In the winter months its really quite cold overnight. There's a great outdoor firepit and I provide firewood for $10. There's a patio heater too and its 8kg gas cylinder costs $30. I will provide the first one. This venue has been popular for families 'plugging in' their vans and for others to roll their swags out either inside the shed or under the stars. Privacy and peace and quiet in abundance here. We also have unpowered camping in the paddocks. There are a few places with shade near a dam, by the old hayshed, or on a hill with views over the valley, excellent sunsets and a clearing for camping, 4WD accessible. Children under 12 stay for free on unpowered sites!

Kingfisher's Hut sits on 80 acres of our 240 acre property, on a high bank overlooking the Macdonald River as it makes it way towards the confluence with the Namoi River. Ideally suited for a couple (children and fur babies also welcome) or small groups, and those who are new to a nature escape holiday. A small solar system provides lighting (but not recharging of devices). We welcome nature lovers and offer activities such as bush walking, bird watching, native wildlife, swimming, picnicking, kayaking (double kayak provided), catch and release fishing (seasonal and with current Fishing Licence), and big open night skies for astronomy enthusiasts. We are a small farming enterprise and currently establishing aquaculture (yabby) ponds and can offer an introductory tour to those who are interested. The hut sleeps two but there is plenty of room for those who wish to bring a camper trailer or van or pitch a tent. As a working property, you may need to navigate around the odd cow pat! We do ask that you carefully read our rules (see link) to avoid any conflict with neighbouring properties or our attempts at retaining a relatively undisturbed, healthy river environment and not to impact upon our surrounding community.

Anywhere around the dam You have an option to camp at the shed where there is a generator for power (lighting) and toilet amenities. This area is generally flat and can accommodate any type of camping vehicle. There is a shed to provide shelter for your food prep etc. There is a sink under the awning but you will need to carry water in a container to wash dishes. Outside there is wood-burning BBQ the camping paddock is fully fenced in . For 4WD enthusiasts, there are good camping spots at the top of the mountain ridge however need to be self contained eg toilet. You will need to bring your own fresh drinking water supply and unleaded fuel to run the water pump and generator. We have secure cattle yards as a holding space if holidaying with your horses (please see Extras for horse facility fees). Enjoy scenic horse rides around the valley and relax in front of the campfire by night. Dogs on leashes are welcome. There is no phone reception on site There is a pub in Bundarra where meals hospitality and spending time with the locals and a corner store 25km away at Bundarra, and all shops and amenities are available 75km at Inverell.

Great place to camp right off the highway as I was heading up to Queensland and needed a place a bit closer than Tamworth to stay for the sake of my drive. Spot was fantastic, I was a last minute booking but Cathy was understanding and welcoming! John was great he showed me everything around and the things I could use. There’s an outdoor and indoor stove to cook on and he provided wood for me to make a fire and sit outside with my dogs enjoying the farm! It was amazing to have a hot shower and working toilet as well as a warm indoor spot to escape the rain and a fridge to keep the drinks cold. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The location was beautiful, and we had the entire woolshed to ourselves. Francis only hosts one guest at a time, which made it feel very private and peaceful. The amenities had everything we needed, including a gas heater that was perfect for the colder evenings. The shower was excellent—lovely and hot with great water pressure.

We spent four nights camping at Cracknback riverside camping, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The grounds were spotless, with beautiful soft grass, our kids could safely run around barefoot the whole time. The weather was perfect, and the river was incredible, clean, refreshing, and a highlight of our stay. Beth and Ben were truly wonderful hosts; friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about maintaining such a great place. The facilities were excellent: clean toilets, hot water showers, and everything well looked after. It’s rare to find a camping spot that feels this relaxed, clean, and family-friendly. We loved every moment and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Quiet and peaceful location close to Glen Innes. Great amenities and to have power and water connections for our van was a bonus. The hosts Cathy and John are the nicest people. John is amazing and very interesting to talk to and is a very talented wood/metal worker, currently building an aircraft. His work shed is pretty much a museum with a collection of antique axes, saws, machinery and other hand tools. The firepit/BBQ area was a great place to relax in the evening. Highly recommend a visit.

It was so beautiful, we had site to ourselves and it was lovely and quiet. Its dog friendly it was good to be able to have them off lead. Water was nice, took a bit of getting ised to clamouring over rocks and it is slippery in water so bring water shoes if you jave them. Road from Bellbrook pub to the campsite(40 min drive) is an adventure in itself going to single lane in places with stunning views to valley floor.. met one clown speeding around a corner so be careful .

Hosts helped us out massively in a pinch as a storm rolled through and went out of their way to allow us to camp under the shed. This Hipcamp honestly took our breath away. The view alone is incredible, and the beautiful white flowers around the property made the whole place feel extra special the moment we arrived. It was really easy to find and access, and the location itself was peaceful and quiet — exactly what we were hoping for. When we pulled in, we saw a little kid feeding the horses and it was honestly the cutest, most wholesome welcome ever. The horses were gorgeous, and the amenities were spotless. The hot shower was perfect, and having a laundry available felt like such a luxury while camping. Our dog had the best time exploring the space, and we’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a calm, scenic getaway. Would absolutely stay again.

We loved our stay at Glendawn on the Woolshed site! We had plenty of space to ourselves and the Woolshed was perfect to have especially on the stormy night that we decided to stay! A toilet and hot shower was also a massive bonus! Thank you for being so friendly and having us Frances, we’ll definitely be back next time we are in the area!
