Blue Hole Riverside Camp (via Castle Doyle Rd) is located 10 minutes out of Armidale and provides sunny, cleared acres to camp by the riverside with peaceful surrounds and total relaxation. Easy access to the river to swim, fish, kayak or canoe.
A short two minute drive (approx 3kms) to the beautiful Blue Hole Picnic Area and Gara Gorge offers swimming, picnic seating, BBQ and bush walking in a scenic bush setting with clean toilets. Armidale is home to many gorges and national parks like no other region. Dangars falls is a stunning waterfall with a picnic area.
This rural property suits self sufficient campers only with own drinking water and shower/toilet amenities. All campers must take their rubbish with them leaving no trace - no bins provided.
Please note that wifi is limited in this camping area by the river. You will find certain spots around the area that will work more efficiently. We do not offer wifi.
Take your time to relax by a fire and enjoy the serenity!

Welcome to our river retreat. Ideal for those seeking privacy, peace and solitude away from the socials and technology. Kingfisher's Hut sits on 80 acres of our 240 acre property, on a high bank overlooking the Macdonald River as it makes it way towards the confluence with the Namoi River. Ideally suited for a couple (children and fur babies also welcome) or small groups, and those who are new to a nature escape holiday. A small solar system provides lighting (but not recharging of devices). Our insulated cabin provides a comfortable double bed (bring your own linen and pillows) and pot belly stove for the colder months. Our bush kitchen provides your basic needs with a BBQ, 12 volt fridge, and fully equipped camp kitchen. Our open fire is set up for cooking or for just sitting, relaxing and staring into the flames. Our bush bathroom provides a toilet and wood fired hot shower. Or you might chose to relax in a hot bath overlooking the river.
We welcome nature lovers and offer activities such as bush walking, bird watching, native wildlife, swimming, picnicking, kayaking (double kayak provided), catch and release fishing (seasonal and with current Fishing Licence), and big open night skies for astronomy enthusiasts. We are a small farming enterprise and currently establishing aquaculture (yabby) ponds and can offer an introductory tour to those who are interested.
The hut sleeps two (double bed) but there is plenty of room for those who wish to bring a camper trailer or van or pitch a tent. As a working property, you may need to navigate around the odd cow pat! We have recently installed an old roof top ten on legs which can sleep two (double bed size).
We do ask that you carefully read our rules (see link) to avoid any conflict with neighbouring properties or our attempts at retaining a relatively undisturbed, healthy river environment and not negatively impact our surrounding community.
We will always have a meet and greet with our guests at some point during your stay, but promise we won't intrude upon your privacy.

‘Cootes Crossing’ is a peaceful 730-acre property located in the spectacular cool-climate granite country of New Valley (Northern Tablelands region, 30 minutes west of Guyra, NSW).
The property is a perfect escape for relaxation and a wonderful base to explore the region. Cattle-grazing paddocks are surrounded by multiple areas of natural bush, with large rock formations, boulder stacks, overhangs, and small caves.
There are plenty of options for walking and birdwatching. The area has a distinctive ecological environment featuring box-gum woodland and open sclerophyll forest. Three kilometres of Barns Creek run through the middle of the property, and its sandy base makes it great for swimming in the waterholes.
The property is approximately 1,100 metres above sea level.
Average temperatures range between 5–18 degrees Celsius in winter and 17–30 degrees Celsius in summer.
Average annual rainfall is 900 mm, with higher rainfall during the summer months.
Native Animals
Marsupials: Eastern grey kangaroos, red-necked wallabies, swamp wallabies, brushtail possums, ringtail possums, and sugar gliders.
Birds: Kookaburras, wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks, magpies, white ibis, crimson rosellas, Australian king parrots, red-rumped parrots, grey fantails, restless flycatchers, brown treecreepers, buff-rumped thornbills, golden whistlers, rufous whistlers, and yellow-faced honeyeaters.
Mammals: Insectivorous bats, echidnas, and occasional koalas or quolls inhabit the broader regional corridor.
Reptiles: Various skinks, bearded dragons, and frogs. Turtles can also be found in the creek.
Native Flora
Stringybarks, ironbarks, yellow box, white box, Blakely’s red gum, river oak, wattles, bottlebrush, cypress pine, and tea tree.
Drought-tolerant tussock grasses, sclerophyll shrubs, and groundcovers.

We had a lovely stay at Kingfisher. The facilities were such a convenience and made a one night stay so simple in terms of packing less gear. Even with low river height, the kids loved exploring and kayaking.

What a great sense of a secret escape By Gorge presents. The drama of the escarpment beside the facilities is immediate and only slightly diminished by the drought and lack of water over the falls.
We had a terrific walk across country to the Oxley Wild Rivers NP walkways and lookouts, and were lucky to find a wombat hole through the fence. Probably better and safer to go by road.

Peppermint falt glamping , where do I start what a spot 15/10 !! We stayed in the platypus lair , to the amazing tent set up which is like a small house , one of if not the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in , the amenities was superb , love love love ..
Oh wait there , can't leave without saying I have ticked another ozzy jewl of my animal bucket list , just made my year , both nights we cooked up a storm , and sat down beside the river and had an outstanding moment veiwing your family of platypus whist having dinner, between the platypus, water dragons and turtles we were truly spoilt , and not to mention sum beefy owl on the first night , that we couldnt see but definitely knew they were present ... thanks again for allowing people to come enjoy your true peice of paradise. And can't wait to come back as we only scratched the surface on the stunning walks in the erea ..
I can't recommend this place enough , all boxes ticked .....

10 out of 10 would recommend, especially lovely for a winter get away.

Sue and Phill are exceptional hosts. The camp is just perfect and enough off grid to think you are a world away. Nothing needed as far as kitchen gear and even an innovative hot shower system. Fishing with lures only is not an issue. Patience and a little quiet will see platypus pop up and say hi... wonderful part of this great country.

We can't say enough about this property and the hosts. Sue and Phill are extremely welcoming and kind. They are there as much or as little as you need them with lots of knowledge. The property was private, peaceful and beautiful.
We loved exploring the property and watching the Platypus in the creek.
The glamping tent was big enough for the three of us and was well equipped.
The facilities were clean and the shower was beautifully hot.
We would definitely stay again, given the opportunity.
