Welcome to our river retreat. Ideal for those seeking privacy, peace and solitude away from the socials and technology. Kingfisher's Hut sits on 80 acres of our 240 acre property, on a high bank overlooking the Macdonald River as it makes it way towards the confluence with the Namoi River. Ideally suited for a couple (children and fur babies also welcome) or small groups, and those who are new to a nature escape holiday. A small solar system provides lighting (but not recharging of devices). Our insulated cabin provides a comfortable double bed (bring your own linen and pillows) and pot belly stove for the colder months. Our bush kitchen provides your basic needs with a BBQ, 12 volt fridge, and fully equipped camp kitchen. Our open fire is set up for cooking or for just sitting, relaxing and staring into the flames. Our bush bathroom provides a toilet and wood fired hot shower. Or you might chose to relax in a hot bath overlooking the river. We welcome nature lovers and offer activities such as bush walking, bird watching, native wildlife, swimming, picnicking, kayaking (double kayak provided), catch and release fishing (seasonal and with current Fishing Licence), and big open night skies for astronomy enthusiasts. We are a small farming enterprise and currently establishing aquaculture (yabby) ponds and can offer an introductory tour to those who are interested. The hut sleeps two (double bed) but there is plenty of room for those who wish to bring a camper trailer or van or pitch a tent. As a working property, you may need to navigate around the odd cow pat! We have recently installed an old roof top ten on legs which can sleep two (double bed size). We do ask that you carefully read our rules (see link) to avoid any conflict with neighbouring properties or our attempts at retaining a relatively undisturbed, healthy river environment and not negatively impact our surrounding community. We will always have a meet and greet with our guests at some point during your stay, but promise we won't intrude upon your privacy.

Llandillo is a picturesque 700 acre property located 11 kms from Emmaville, and 55kms from Glen Innes in the northern New England region. It has 2kms of Severn river access along its southern boundary, which offers great fishing and wildlife watching opportunities. We run a small sheep farming enterprise on the northern more open half of the property, and the southern part running down to the river is natural bushland. Activities include fishing, bushwalking, mountain biking, fossicking, bird watching or getting to know some of our much adored farm animals. We offer accommodation in our a two-bedroom cabin. Our homely cabin offers a tranquil place to stay and enjoy the sounds of birds singing in the trees. Our cabin includes one double bed, two single beds and two double lounges that turn into sofa beds. We have a friendly old Wallaroo who lives around the cabin. Many other wallaby’s and kangaroos can be seen from the windows. It is a great place to relax reading a good book, catch up on well deserved rest or use as a base for outdoor activities. The cabin also has a large firepit out the back where our guests are welcome to have a campfire or cook a meal over the coals. Firewood will be supplied. There is a picnic area with a large open firepit and toilet just meters from the waters edge. Many unique animals have been seen at the river, including spotted Quolls, Platypus, fireflies, Deer, Goats, Kangaroos, wallabies and many species of birds. Guests are able to walk the entire 2km of river fishing or just enjoying the free flowing water. Nine times out of ten Murray Cod are caught along any part of the river on our fishing adventures. BYO fishing gear. Catch and release is appreciated however if guests would like to keep one to eat, they are welcome. Thankyou for reading, we would love to see you at Llandillo soon.

Blue Hole Riverside Camp (via Castle Doyle Rd) is located 10 minutes out of Armidale and provides sunny, cleared acres to camp by the riverside with peaceful surrounds and total relaxation. Easy access to the river to swim, fish, kayak or canoe. A short two minute drive (approx 3kms) to the beautiful Blue Hole Picnic Area and Gara Gorge offers swimming, picnic seating, BBQ and bush walking in a scenic bush setting with clean toilets. Armidale is home to many gorges and national parks like no other region. Dangars falls is a stunning waterfall with a picnic area. This rural property suits self sufficient campers only with own drinking water and shower/toilet amenities. All campers must take their rubbish with them leaving no trace - no bins provided. Please note that wifi is limited in this camping area by the river. You will find certain spots around the area that will work more efficiently. We do not offer wifi. This well appointed, fully renovated hut is a studio with a queen bed, lounge area, tv, kitchen, bathroom/laundry, front deck with a bbq and views to die for!! ‘Cootes Crossing’ is a peaceful 730 acre property located in the spectacular cool-climate granite country of New Valley (Northern Tablelands region, 30 minutes West of Guyra NSW). The property is a perfect escape for relaxation and a wonderful base to explore the region. Cattle grazing paddocks are surrounded by multiple areas of natural bush with large rock formations, boulder stacks, overhangs, and small caves. There are plenty of options for walking and birdwatching. The area has a distinctive ecological environment with box-gum woodland and open sclerophyll forest. 3km of Barns creek runs through the middle of the property and with its sandy base is great for a dip in the waterholes. Native Animals Marsupials: Eastern grey kangaroos, red-necked wallabies, swamp wallabies, brushtail possums, ringtail possums, and sugar gliders. Birds: Kookaburras, wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks, magpies, white ibis, crimson rosellas, Australian king-parrots, red-rumped parrots, grey fantails, restless flycatchers, brown treecreeper, buff-rumped thornbill, golden whistler, rufous whistler, and yellow-faced honeyeater. Microbats & Mammals: Insectivorous bats, echidnas, and occasional koalas or quolls inhabit the broader regional corridor. Reptiles & Frogs: Various skinks, bearded dragons and frogs. Turtles in the creek. Native Flora Stringybarks, ironbarks, yellow box, white box, Blakely’s red gum, river oak, wattles, bottlebrush, cypress pine, tea tree. Drought-tolerant tussock grasses, sclerophyll shrubs and groundcovers. Well of you ever want to see a platypus this is the place. You can even do it from a hot bath (or toilet 😄). Many thanks to Sue and Phil who were such freindly and helpful hosts. 10 out of 10 would recommend, especially lovely for a winter get away. Oh and the dogs loved the river walks and freedom.

Sue and Phill are exceptional hosts. The camp is just perfect and enough off grid to think you are a world away. Nothing needed as far as kitchen gear and even an innovative hot shower system. Fishing with lures only is not an issue. Patience and a little quiet will see platypus pop up and say hi... wonderful part of this great country.

We can't say enough about this property and the hosts. Sue and Phill are extremely welcoming and kind. They are there as much or as little as you need them with lots of knowledge. The touches and decor make you feel like home. Seriously you won't have a better shower. Our furbabies love having this property all to themselves. We will be back again soon.
