Okay, real talk. The American Southwest is full of fascinating places to explore and learn more about Indian communities. Take Fremont Indian State Park, for example—1,000 years ago, these valleys near Sevier, Utah were home to the biggest community of Frement Indians ever found. Get a taste for how they lived in this park, where you can still see their rock art, petroglyphs, and structures. To learn more, you can watch the informational video, take a rock art tour, and check out the exhibits. In the 1980s, construction of I-70 kicked out most of the canyon’s residents, but you can still overnight here, at Castle Rock Campground. As you tuck yourself into your sleeping bag for the night, take a few moments to imagine what life might have been like here so long ago.
