We are pet friendly about a ten to 15 minute walk to your car and all that is left is you and nature. We are right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains on the way towards Whiteface Mountain with spectacular views. Ask about our toilet accommodations, wi-fi password is available if you ask us for it. Campsite numbers available this year will be Site2 which is left, we are planning to OPEN second site which will be on the right side, Site1, when it is finished. In the middle of Summer, you can ask about it. Only 1 site is open, Site2, on the entire land at this time. This year we have changed a few things and we have added some changes hoping to improve every year and we hope you have a wonderful time here on our beautiful land that we are very blessed to share and enjoy, with you our Hipcamp, friends! We have it as a 10 to 15 minute Walk in depending on where you park, for vehicles with no 4x4. We are requiring 4x4 and some clearance to be able to drive up to the site. Wood is FREE off the land, we suggest bringing wood for the first camp fire especially if it has been raining. You can look for firewood on our land and we have it available where we Meet and Greet. Arnolds grocery, is small mom and pop store with 375 different kinds of beer, wood, and local art. Maplefields grocery store and Stewart's stores also has gas, grocery, wood, and both have restrooms. And Just to be extra safe when we meet and greet to show a group down to the river we will be staying at least 6 feet apart and not shaking hands be smart, be safe. We want you to be able to experience nature to it's fullest.

Willow Hill Farm and Mountains

Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We are installing an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with an outlet, but no well. We will be putting an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. is

Mollie Mae, our Golden Doodle, welcomes you to stay on her quaint little chicken ranch here in apple orchard country in Peru, NY. Our property consists of 2 acres surrounded by apple orchards, strawberry, blueberry and raspberry fields, corn fields, pumpkins and more! We have segmented a portion of the property for use as a RV/Tent site, with 30A electric, water, septic hookup, fire pit and picnic table, with plenty of space for vehicles, a boat and room for kids to run around. Note there is no host-provided toilet here. Campers must provide their own. On the working orchard around us and within walking distance is a petting zoo with a horse, donkeys, llamas and goats, and a playground. Come visit in the fall and you may be able to take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins, and find your way through the corn maze next door. There is also a very large country store stocked with fresh vegetables, maple syrup and other local products, gifts and souvenirs of all kinds and a bakery where you’ll find fresh donuts, pies, breads, cookies, breakfast items and so much more! Mollie Mae’s Chicken Ranch also makes a great home base location for anyone interested in venturing out to the surrounding areas. Whether it’s spending time on the beach at Ausable Point campground, golfing some of the surrounding courses, paddling or boating the waters of Lake Champlain, hiking the hundreds of trails in the Adirondack Mountains, leaf-peeping northern New York and Vermont in the fall, or visiting the Olympic Village in Lake Placid, there are so many things to see and do within a short driving distance. We are just 4.1 miles from Ausable Point campground and Lake Champlain, 4.6 miles from Ausable Chasm, 7.9 miles from Bluff Point Golf Resort, 12 miles south of Plattsburgh, 34 miles from Whiteface Mountain and 38 miles from Lake Placid. You can also take the Lake Champlain ferry from Plattsburgh and a short ride to Burlington, VT, which is about 41 miles away in total. If you want an international, metropolitan experience Montreal, Canada is only 71 miles north, but still close enough for a day trip.

It is a reminder of “I am what I am because of who we all are.” We do our best to bring the spirit of Ubuntu to our lives and property that we have been graced with. We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. Islands Base Camp

Conserved by the South Hero Land Trust, the historic Sawyer Bay Farm on the Island of South Hero was converted to grazing beef cattle. Our farm name is Health Hero Farm. We practice intensive planned grazing, moving the cattle daily to fresh grass. The herd may be near the campsites or completely out of sight, somewhere on our 180 acres. While we were building a house, we camped in the equipment shed during the summer and grew to value its convenience. Joan's enjoyment of cycling inspired her to designate the farm stand as a "bike stop" where visitors could buy a snack, get water, fix their bikes and use the unique islands amenity of a composing toilet in a converted ice fishing shack. South Hero is an agricultural island, as well as a summer tourist destination with numerous outdoor activities. It is also only a half-hour away from Burlington, and the drive is pleasurable. Pitch your tent, stow your gear under cover and explore all the islands have to offer. Yes, this is a summer destination, with great cycling, boating and swimming. We are a grass-fed beef operation, Health Hero Farm, on the island of South Hero. (You can read more about us on our farm website. ) Our farm is on the bike route around the islands, with access to many other vacation activities. Pitch your tent in the farmstead or in half of our empty equipment shed 30' x 60'. Or tool on down the farm road and be alone with the cattle and grass. In the shed, which is open on the north side, you have shelter from the rain, sun and wind. We have two campsites that can share a microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, camp sink and coffee maker in the barn. Lots of storage under roof for bikes and luggage. Our composting toilet (from Natures Head Composting Toilet) is a unique amenity -- installed in a retired ice-fishing shack (on skis). During the busy summer months, we may have a port-o-let (a.k.a. port-a-potty) with professional service. In the winter, the equipment shed is not available. We rent out vehicle and boat storage in the equipment shed and cannot accommodate camping there. However, we have ample parking for RVs at any time of the year. And if you are an experienced snow camper, we have several locations to choose from. We have a farm stand where you can buy a few snacks. If you want to try our beef, we'll be happy to show you our freezers. We are 2 miles from a convenience store that packs an amazing array of products into a small space. We are close to a gem of a public beach, a winery (Snow Farm Vineyard), apple orchards, a public school playground, and miles of scenic driving. Local farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays offer some of the best produce from these agricultural islands. We also own 1000' frontage on Lake Champlain, which you may enjoy. It is difficult to access, but affords privacy and serenity. We allow campfires on the gravel areas of the farm and on the beach, where you can gather dead wood. If you want to host a large group, you will need to reserve both campsites and rent a port-o-let (Vermont's lingo for porta-potty) if we don't already have one. Additional fees might apply. There is no RV electrical hookup; however, the equipment shed has electric outlets for your use. Additional fees apply for energy intensive appliances, such as heaters or air conditioners. There is no water hookup; however, we can fill your tanks with a hose from a potable water supply. Generators are not allowed, unless you are sufficiently distanced from other campers and our neighbors. Other accommodations may be available. Just ask! We have many resources, and want you to have a great visit.

Our property offers an Adirondack-style leanto and two tent camping sites for anyone interested in a secluded, quite setting well away from the road and the sounds of civilization. Camping here is laid back, quiet and relaxing. You may see me and my family working on the property or you may have the place all to yourselves. Either way, you will love the experience here as much as we do. Camp Forever is a very special 45 acre property, located within the Adirondack Blue Line. It has been in my family since the early 30's. My grandfather carved a small campground out of the woods that he ran from the early 70's until the mid-80's. Some of my earliest and best childhood memories are from time I spent at the camp. In the mid-80's, my Uncle took Camp Forever over and ran it until around 2014. As a small private campground for over four decades, Camp Forever became a special place for many families from Quebec and from the local area. My family and I recently purchased Camp Forever from my uncle and have by rehabbing the property for the past several years. We built an Adirondack Style leanto here in 2019 and have been cleaning up the campground area for the past two years. While Camp Forever will never become a "campground" again, I am thrilled to once again be able to share this unique property with anyone seeking good times in nature with family and friends. Come see why this place has been so special and important to my family and many others since the 70's and why it will continue to be a place where people can camp forever. Learn more about this land: This is not a cabin...it's an extra large (14’x10’), Adirondack style leanto! Located ~80 yards from the parking spots on Bessie Lane, our leanto is completely private and nestled in a gorgeous Adirondack upland forest. Fishing on Davis Pond or the Salmon River is a delight any time of year. This Adirondack wilderness atmosphere boasts serene waters, a guided nature trail, and dense forests. Only non-motorized boats are allowed on Davis Pond. Bring your own craft or rent one from a nearby outfitter. The calm waters make it easy to paddle from one side of the pond to the other. Hiking trails just north of the pond delve into the forest. The shade trees make for an excellent summer walk, and fall foliage creates Instagram-worthy photos.

In the winter, the pond freezes over for fantastic ice skating or a pick-up game of hockey. Hiking trails turn to snowmobile and cross country skiing routes. Campgrounds have rustic sites and electric hook-ups for convenience.
