Candice greeted us at the entry to the ranch and showed us to a secluded spot surrounded by amazing mountain views. The ranch is filled with happy, friendly animals and amazing people!🙂
We bought some of their grass-fed beef they raise, and let’s put it this way - I used to be vegan! And if you thought you have seen a more star-filled sky, this place will impress you. The surrounding mountains in the private valley shield all light pollution if any, and present spectacular skies.
She even brought us fresh herbs and vegetables from their garden our first night there. Made our meal we had planned even more delicious!
We have to come back because we didn’t even get to explore all the ranch had to offer like hiking, horseback riding, and rock climbing! Even help with farm chores!
We will definitely be back for the experience and the people that work the ranch! Y’all are truly amazing!

This is a real working ranch. Camping sites are numerous, dispersed and highly varied. Campers can pretty much choose the type of camping they like to do—private and remote or interactive with the ranch family.

We loved staying at Vix Ranch! My boyfriend and I weren't necessarily new to camping but we procrastinated making Labor Day plans and were thrilled to be able to camp here for the weekend on short notice.
I drive a Prius and was able to easily able to make it to our GORGEOUS campsite. (I give this detail for others like me who aren't sure if their vehicle clearance will be ok.)
The activities nearby are great - we spent our time hiking, grilling at our campsite, reading and lounging at our campsite, enjoying the view. Chris pointed us to the hike just up the road, which was a really nice hike next to the creek. The night sky was insane and I saw stars and constellations that I haven't seen in years.
Candice and Chris were extremely helpful hosts and we were happy to have a campfire stove backup from Chris after having some campfire stove woes. We loved getting the ranch tour and learning about the bunnies, chickens and more.
We can't wait to return and would strongly recommend this campsite to others.

Candice and Chris were amazing hosts! Not only were they kind, welcoming, and friendly, but they really go above and beyond for their guests! The site where we camped was private and right next to the creek that flows through the property. It was absolutely gorgeous and the sound of running water put me to sleep and greeted me in the morning. Definitely do the ranch tour because it was so cool to learn about their organic practices in regards to gardening and ranching! The property is huge too, you could literally go hiking on it and never even leave. Plus if you want to, there are plenty of places to go that are just short drives from the ranch, which is always going to be scenic since you're driving through the mountains. Also they helped me patch up my tire when it was losing air and it got me home, through a whole 11 hour drive! Candice and Chris are just the kindest most well spirited people and I will definitely be coming back to camp!

VIX Ranch
We had a GREAT spot that Chris drove us personally to even though we arrived at night. They were very gracious hosts, and own an incredible; working ranch in a BEAUTIFUL valley chocked full of awesome views. We would definitely camp there again if in the area.

Candice’s ranch was beautiful! We really enjoyed our stay and loved the gorgeous 360 degree mountain views from our campsite. Everything was very well kept up and Candice was very nice and welcoming. The directions to the property were very clear but, since we arrived after dark, we struggled to find a campsite the first night. Candice warmly met us at our car and helped us settle in to a temporary site for the night (she offered to show us to the other spot that night but we were exhausted and chose the temporary spot out of convenience) and we moved to a different, more private spot in the morning. Absolutely loved our stay! Thanks Candice! Hope to be back for a longer stay sometime :)

This is an awesome camping experience I have, host are pretty nice and responsible, hospitable.
The site place are good for star watching.
Neighbors are friendly, dogs are cute friendly as well.
I love it pretty much. I will come next time again for more hiking events nearby.

It was our first time using Hipcamp and I was so surprised how great it went. Probably the best experience we've had in a LONG time! We got there later than expected and they were still VERY accommodating. As soon as we got there, they brought us up to the bonfire and offered us s’mores and brats!! There was absolutely NO light pollution so the stars were beautiful!! Chris took us to a great spot to star gaze and even pointed out some planets and satellites!! It was even my fiancé’s first time seeing the Milky Way!
I will definitely tell all my friends and family about this place because it is SO WORTH IT!!!!
I wish we could have stayed until sunrise!!

The owners were so hospital, I really felt welcomed! The ranch is beautiful especially at sunset, with cows, horses, and pigs. I grew up in a ski town so staying on a ranch was awesome. About 30 min drive to Glenwood and 15 drive to New Castle. I slept in my car so I'm not too sure on the campsites but was told by other campers of good spots.

This was my first time using hipcamp and an overall amazing experience. Not only were Candice and Chris very accommodating they were also very generous. They have a gorgeous property that they are so happy and ready to share and I can’t wait until the next time I come back to new castle.

Such a beautiful place! Our family had a great time. My son loved all the farm animals and the sweet dogs he got to play with. The host is so kind and generous and definitely added to the charm of our stay. We will definitely be back.

We arrived two RVs, late at night and parked on the Elk Creek. What a way to wake up to the sound of flowing water!
Candice was awesome. Took the kids to see the farm animals and was super patient and hospitable.
The ranch offers and authentic experience and has tons of camping options.
It a short 24 minute drive to Glenwood Springs!
You should definitely stay here!!!

Beautiful ranch with a creek flowing through the middle. Candice was there to greet us at arrival and we had multiple campsite locations to choose from. Firewood was available and we even decided to have Candice bring us a wonderful breakfast and lattes in the morning. What a great place and host. We would highly recommend!

Candice is an incredible host. The ranch is a family paradise. All the animals made a camping trip very unique. This was our first time as hip campers and we are now hooked. We can't wait to try more places but VIX Ranch will always be our favorite. A fantastic experience.

What a beautiful spot! With our 7 and 5 year olds, this was the perfect balance between being out in the wilderness and car camping at a park service site. Hope to make it back for another weekend soon.

We were so so happy at Candice's ranch. The location was just what we had hoped for -private and beautiful. It was a 20-minute drive to Glenwood Springs which was perfect for us to play for the day and come back to sleep under the stars. Candice was amazing, bringing breakfast to our campsite - fresh eggs and meat and produce from the farm itself. She also offered lattes in the morning and even offered to bring a charcoal grill to a beautiful sight on the ranch if we wanted to cook out. I felt like we had a personal concierge!
I chose this place over others in the area because, while other places had great reviews and more of them, this looked to be the prettier and more spacious choice. I think I got it exactly right and would recommend this place without reservation.
Lots of lovely farm animals and dogs, all of whom were sweet and friendly! If I had more than two hands I would give it more than two thumbs up!

Perfect spot in the hidden gem of New Castle. We were able to find a camp site in the dark easily and woke up to gorgeous views! Highly recommend.

It was my wife and I's first time camping, albeit a bit under prepared.
Candice and Chris were so helpful in assisting us, we were so unprepared for camping and they Friendly and gracious, their hospitality was bar none.
I have plans on coming back here in the future to explore the property. The farm fresh eggs are amazing as well as as the organic sausage right from the farm.
The scenery and ranch is beautiful and you can see the stars so clearly. There are also great hiking areas on the ranch, a beautiful river running through as well. You are close enough to glenwood springs which has so much to offer.
Highly recommend V. I. X. Ranch for newbies and seasoned campers!! GREAT EXPERIENCE!
