Description

Round-’n’-round, Round Mountain Campground will make you dizzy with its skyscraping campsites. Located nearly nine-thousand-feet in the towering vegetation of nearby Lake George. While the general area is open year-long, the campground only operates during the warm summer months.

There are too many rules, why have a campground next to one of the largest atv trails but you literally cant even push them around on the DIRT trails that are inside the campground? Just drive like 30 feet further and set up your own free campsite.

We were able to make reservations. Campground is a hub for off roaders. Site was large and roomy, and shady due to pine trees. Lot of traffic and gun range noise during the day.

Booked a great campsite through the fed website up 11 mile canyon, only to have the booking cancelled less than 24 hours before we left town (flooding, apparently). Round Mountain put us in the same area and wasn't terribly difficult to find. The area is first come first serve, but since we arrived on a Thursday space wasn't too hard to find. By Friday night, though, everything was booked out.

Quick drives into Lake George and to Spinney Resevoir for some awesome fishing.

Drawbacks: it does get kind of loud and crowded in the summer months. And there's a shooting range at M Lazy C Ranch that goes all day.
