*** 2025 Season Update *** As they have put new rock on the gravel road near the property, we are potentially looking at closing our season earlier than planned. This has covered up our previous dust control, which could make it more dusty than anticipated due to higher traffic for an early harvest this year. If you are still needing a place to stay but it looks to be unavailable up to November 1st, just send me a message and we can review options. I want to ensure a positive experience. - Devlin ****50/30/20 amp hookups at each RV Site. *** City life from Lincoln and Omaha can feel a little tight sometimes. Little Rivers Edge is a wonderful spacious campground for the perfect weekend getaway being only 30 minutes down the road. Just a mile outside of Syracuse gives you all the convenience of the town without any of the crowded feeling. So...light a fire and play in the river! We hope you enjoy our little piece of heaven and meet some friends along the way.

Immerse yourself in the charm of a 1907 Nebraska homestead, where history breathes life into every corner. As you step out of your camper, you're transported to a bygone era, greeted by a majestic early 20th-century barn that stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the families who cultivated this slice of heaven by the Great Cedar Creek. The available 110v outlet is ready to accommodate your small appliances and gadgets. While our well water is mineral-rich and flavorful, please be mindful of consumption to prevent depleting the supply. Just 3 miles away, the Rockford State Recreation Area offers a boat ramp and is home to a charming lake. While it may not be the largest, it boasts a swimming beach and supports activities like jet skiing, tubing, and water skiing. An 11-mile journey will take you to the Homestead National Monument, an interesting site that I'll let you discover for yourself. With a population of 12,223, the town caters to all modern necessities. You'll find Walmart, McDonald's, a dollar store, various sit-down restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, and a bowling alley. The historical downtown area, nestled along the Blue River, provides a picturesque backdrop. For a relaxing day, consider a kayak rental to drift along this lazy river. And for those who enjoy cycling or running, extensive recreational trails built over old railroad tracks connect the surrounding villages and townships, offering a scenic route for your outdoor activities. The town is home to a brewery and a couple of cozy small-town taverns, offering an inviting atmosphere for an evening out in the heart of the heartland." Meet our two Australian Shepherds, the true stewards of this land, who will greet you with boundless energy and joy. They are the swift guardians of the homestead, their only charge being the human companion they share their home with. I can assure you that my male dogs have been responsibly managed to prevent any unwanted breeding or aggressive behavior towards other dogs. We request that our guests come prepared with their own sanitation solutions and take responsibility for the disposal of waste. For your convenience, Chautauqua Park in Beatrice, NE, which is only an 8-mile, 10-minute drive away, provides a dump station for such purposes.

Overview

About

All those lessons about homesteading that you learned in school come to life at this national monument. Two separate visitor centers are packed with information. You can get a real sense of just how vast the prairies are. Walk a mile to find a school from the homesteading period (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day only).

You'll learn a lot here. Did you know that homesteading continued in Alaska into the 1970s? The exhibits don't neglect the Native American side of the story either, making it clear what happened when they were pushed off their lands. If your ancestors were part of homesteading in the 1800s, you can search on the Visitor Center computers to find out more information about them. A collection of farm implements also helps you understand just how hard it was to work the land by hand. Docents and Rangers are on hand to answer all your questions, and the Junior Ranger program here is a lot of fun for your kids.

Hook up your RV or pitch your tent on the same prairie where homesteaders built cabins and tilled the ground. Hipcamp can help you find campsites as well as cabins, rustic lodges, and even straw-bale dwellings.
