My family and I loved staying at the Eden East Farm. It truly is a haven tucked in the middle of Austin. I couldn’t believe that such a beautiful, peaceful place existed within 10 minutes of downtown. My children loved walking around the farm, examining the plants, petting the kitty and talking to the chickens and ducks!

If you’re lucky enough to be there on a Wednesday or Saturday morning then you must go to brunch at their on-site farm to table restaurant. We had egg bowls and pear buttermilk pancakes. So Delicious!

Sonya and Dave made us feel incredibly welcomed. We were able to meet some of the chefs and volunteers who took the time to give us samples, suggest ideas for places to visit, help us pick out veggies from their Wednesday morning market, and gave me ideas on how to cook the veggies on the single burner kitchen in our camper.

We definitely plan on going back to Eden East Farm. It was the highlight of our 4 days in Austin. Side note, if you get the chance you must visit their Hillside Farmacy restaurant. It is located in an old pharmacy and has a ton of vintage bottles and décor. It was so funky!

Here's what my 8-year-old had to say about it:

Hi I am Leila, what I liked about the farm was playing with the kitten.i liked playing with the animals.i liked walking in the vegetable garden. and feeding the ducks and the chickens.

And here's what my 5-year-old thought about it:

I like seeing the flowers. i like doing the maze. i liked Hillside Farmacy, and playing with the people.

Here's what my 2-year-old had to say:

I loved playing with the animals, and I loved the garden.

We had such a great time! Thank you Sonya and Dave!

Do you like waking up to the sound of a rooster in the middle of the city? If "yes," Eden East is the perfect place for you.

While the campsite is in the middle of the city and not as private as a campsite in the backcountry (we were there in winter, so the bushes weren't as full as they would be in the summer), we never felt unsafe or discontent. A few blocks away is the Austin Bouldering Project, and adjacent to that is an awesome local brewery. I highly recommend checking both places out.

The farm itself is beyond amazing and way bigger than I imagined. I can't believe I had never heard of it before, despite coming to Austin many times previously! If you are there on a Wednesday or Saturday, be sure to pop in to the on-site farmer's market and pick up some veggies or even get homemade, farm-fresh breakfast. I would recommend the make-your-own bowl!

Sonya was so kind and took time to show us around the property, telling us about various aspects of farm life and giving us info about local to-dos. The culture and community she has built at Eden East is really special to be around.

Support local bees! Pop-in to the onsite store and snag some local honey. The entrance to the farm. This is opposite of where the parking lot for regular customers is located. The driveway crosses a small drainage and your parking is on the right. The campsite is tucked by the fence next to the farmhouse. There's enough space for one large tent or two small tents.food farm veggies

Loved camping in East of Eden. Sonya greeted us and provided several options of which we picked our favorite. Waking up in the garden in the middle of Austin is a remarkable experience. Breakfast from the onsite food truck restaurant is a must (coffee cake) and the brewery nearby is just a short walk. We will be back.
