Four Acre Woods Campground

A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. The cabin is a cute little space made from recycled materials, creative building skills, and a whole lot of love. Nothing fancy by any means, just a fun spot to hide away with loved ones! We celebrate the simple things in life here. It's perfect for couples, small families, or upto 4 guests in 2 beds. Take a walk out the door into the woods, play down by the stream- have a campfire- or spend the day with your nose in a good book. The loft is fully stocked with paints and brushes if you're feeling the flow! It's just a great place to let go, and relax! The sky is intense- the owls are loud, and there is plenty to do within a short drive incase ya get cabin fever and want to get back into the world for some fun! Make sure to save some time to take a paddle on the canoe, kayaks, or paddleboard that we leave down at a nearby pond for you! We now own 365 acres that was named Texas Four Corners (no one knows why) in the middle of 1,600 undeveloped acres with the closest inhabited house from our property is over a half mile away. 15 Mile Stream runs thru the property. 16 miles to Common Ground Fair in Unity. 15 miles to Waterville and 28 miles to Belfast.
