Turkey Run Campground is the best place to pitch your tent in all of Turkey Run State Park, and not just because it’s the only campground in the park. Enjoy photo-worthy views along Sugar Creek and in deep, sandstone ravines. Oh, and the aged forests are pretty cool too. All of the hiking trails accessible from the campground have sections that use or cross streambeds, meaning some trails might be impassible during high water. If you get flooded out, check out the Colonel Richard Lieber Cabin, commemorating the father of Indiana’s state park system, or go fishing (either literally or with cards)!

Turkey Run is my most favorite state park in Indiana. It is other worldly. The hiking is great & somewhat challenging. The trail that connects the campground to the park is gorgeous. The rock formations are simply mind blowing. Once inside the park, you have to check out the suspension bridge and then the options are endless. The campground is always packed. I recommend trying to book a campsite well in advance. The sites along the perimeter seem to be larger than those on the inside. We had the first spot by the entrance, which we thought might be loud, but it turned out to be just fine. And in case you run out, there is a restaurant about a mile away from the campground entrance that sells carry out booze!
