Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. We'd like to share the camp with others and see it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do.

Thunder Bridge Cabin 2 (Parcell)
We had a great stay in cabin 2. It was the perfect base camp for our weekend visit to the area where we visited Lexington, Natural Bridge State Park, and hiked on the AT. The hosts were very helpful with firewood requests, hiking guidance, pre-stay communication, and have created a wonderful camping facility. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Nice private wooded site. Host was very responsive. Lots of fire wood. Great bathhouse/game room and horse shoes! Excellent stargazing spot at front of property in field. Definitely will be back.

One Happy Camper!
First trip in our RV. Had some issues that were worked out easy enough. Ran on of propane, have built in tank. The local HOA filled our tank, as suggested by Adam. If I had a question he was very quick to respond. Was a nice quiet place to camp and great for our first trip. Pavilion provides games and hot showers. After hiking for the day that shower felt really good! For hiking there are trails everywhere, Highly recommended!

Great site. Very close to bathhouse. Some WiFi was possible. Large gravel tent pad with space for two large six-person tents.

Adam's camp was just what we needed. We did 5 day sections of the AT and came back each night to a warm shower and a great place.

This was the absolute perfect little woodsy getaway for my kids and I. Being so early in the season, I think we were one of just two parties camping on the property which made it so beautifully quiet and serene. The picturesque creek running behind our campsite is the stuff my kids’ dreams are made of. We loved Thunder BRidge and would highly recommend it! The fire pit with grills were perfect for our campfire meals and the shelter kept us dry on a VERY rainy couple of nights. Thanks Adam.
