Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the '30s and early '40s, then a boys’ juvenile detention center and Big Brothers’/Big Sisters’ camp, which closed in 2009. We'd like to share the camp with others and see it come back to life.
Within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil’s Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. Truly, there's something for everyone nearby. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of what to see and do.

Camping with kids and a dog!
2nd time visiting the property, 1st time tent camped with my wife (which was also great), and 2nd time we brought the kids and dog to the screened in cabin. Everyone loved it. If you have kids then this is a great option, there are beds already there, just need twin size bedding or queen if you put two together. Sturdy table also provided with 4 chairs and picnic tables outside. Fire pit has a grate to cook over. Could hear the creek while we were there because it had just rained a lot. Trails through property were fun for the kids to explore. The kids also enjoyed trying to see how many different colored mushrooms they could find. No complaints.
We had a great time enjoying the beautiful woods and creek. The screened cabin gave us the feeling of camping but felt like a luxury when a thunderstorm blew in the 2nd night. The screened cabin was not musty smelling and the cot mattresses were fairlycomfortable. Everything was very clean, including the shower house, flushing toilets, and pit toilet. Adam was very friendly and accommodating. If you like seclusion, privacy, and a great creek for kids, this is perfect!
We loved the spacious screened cabin which make you feel like you are camping but give a roof over your head 'just in case'. Screened cabin, cabin and most tent sites are private so you can enjoy the amazing forested setting. Great location and close to Blue Ridge Parkway. Many hiking opportunities close by. Would highly recommend this new gem in the Hip Camp world!
I loved camping at Thunder Bridge screened cabins! It was very peaceful and relaxing. Listening to the stream every night was a great way to fall asleep. It was a great base camp for exploring the National Forest in the area. Natural Bridge State Park is a must!

Adam's land is great! We stayed in a screened cabin which we loved- great protection from bugs and damp. It was fun to wander around and see all the work they are doing. It's new so I suspect things will keep changing and improving over time. Some tent sites look recently cleared.
Thunder BRidge is an excellent campground to base your explorations of Natural Bridge Station, Lexington, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the beautiful surrounding areas. It is nestled in picturesque Arnold Valley with a good-sized creek running through the back of the campground, which was rushing while we were there. All of the sites are placed far away from each other and it was very nice to have that privacy. We stayed in one of the screened in cabins. I was worried about a cot with sleeping pad, but the pads are really thick and I slept SO well. The screens allowed a really nice flow of air. It was like sleeping in a tent without having to put one up! The bathroom was clean and the pavilion was a nice space to play cards. Karen, James, and their son, Adam, were very approachable and very welcoming. We can’t wait to go back!
