4 nights at Downhome Country Farm

This is such a perfect place to stay if you are visiting the area. Especially for the price! It’s the cheapest and nicest to stay AND you get electricity and water. They had nice outhouse bathrooms built with a toilet room and shower room. The horses are very sweet and gentle. The camper we were previously going to stay in had an issue so we were generously upgraded to the larger camper! It was so cute and clean. We were provided with literally everything we needed, including towels and extra blankets. They were very generous about the fire wood too. The property has a nice walking trail and fun spots to hang out in the yard. We were given free rein over the garden to harvest some of the seasonal bearing, which were very scrumptious! They gave lots of local recommendations too. They made sure to check in on us when we were outside to make sure everything was going well. One place that is a must visit is the Good Earth Farm that is just down the road from the site. It’s an animal sanctuary that has stone fire pizza, a bar, trails, and pumpkin painting, with the option of gluten free and vegan pizzas! We had a vegan pizza with everything vegan we could get, very delicious!

2 nights at The Specialty Crop

Genuinely one of the best experiences you could ask for when it comes to camping. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and adorable. There's everything you could need! Katie and Chris are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. The animals were adorable and sweet! The shower was magical and very well kept - even stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Overall, we will be coming back!

This was the cutest little cabin with all the necessities. We relaxed by the fire and had an amazing homemade pizza made by the hosts. It was so delicious. I cant wait to use the sourdough starter they had available for purchase. They showed us around their beautiful land. We would Definitely recommend this place.

2 nights at The Specialty Crop

What delightful place! So cozy and completely equipped with a super comfy bed and enough kitchen equipment (fridge with freezer, coffee maker, toaster and microwave) to enjoy light meals. I spent relaxing time on the swing and enjoyed the company of the kitties. The bathroom facilities were clean and fresh.

1 night at The Specialty Crop

We had such a special stay here and are so grateful for the kindness and hospitality we were shown. The farm is absolutely beautiful, and the cabin was so cozy and charming. It felt like such a peaceful little place to slow down for a bit during our trip. Our little one especially loved spending time with the animals and interacting with them, she truly did not want to leave. Seeing how happy she was there made the stay even sweeter for us. What made our time there most memorable, though, was how thoughtful and generous Katie and Chris was with our family. They went above and beyond in ways they absolutely did not have to, including helping us when we had a flat tire. That kind of kindness means so much when you are traveling, and we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for the entire time. This ended up being one of those stays that becomes part of the memory of the trip itself, not just a place to sleep. We are so thankful we found it and would happily stay again.

Weekend Trip to The Specialty Crop

Beautiful, extremely clean cabin with the comfiest beds and sweetest host family. We loved everything about this place and would love to visit again! The pizza was sooooo good and Katie even had the cabin decorated for our son’s birthday 🥹🥹. We ended up having a little thunderstorm out of nowhere during the early morning hours and Katie text us to make sure we were ok. Such a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Downhome Country Farm

We were greeted by Steve when we arrived and he guided us to our spot. It was exactly as pictured, maybe even better. Well stocked place, convenient to the bathroom, fire and outside seating. Several personal touches and extras added to our stay. We ordered eggs and they were same day fresh and quite delicious! Highly recommend and only 1 mile off of I29.

Weekend Trip to Downhome Country Farm

What a wonderful stay! The camper had so many extras if needed, and all the animals around were so fun to watch while relaxing outside the camper. We didn’t take advantage of the campfire or cooking there, but the location was great to find entertainment and restaurants not far away. Carole and her husband are very friendly and make sure you have everything you need, and give suggestions for things to do close by!

Weekend Trip to The Specialty Crop

Me and my husband and my grandson were passing through here on our way home to Missouri. We had been out two weeks and stayed many places, but this was definitely my favorite Katie Chris and the kids were so awesome. They played with my grandson with their own toys even gave him a bike to take home as we were leaving definitely recommend this place to anybody and everybody you will not regret it. I may just have to go up there just to get away for the weekend and stay again.

Brian's farm is a very cool and welcoming space. Good vibes, lots of critters running around. The Hippie Bus is a lot of fun. Brian showed me all of the various switches and how to work everything when I arrived, and the AC lasted several hours running full blast.

Weekend Trip to Uncle B's Produce Farm

I had a lot of fun out on Brian’s property! We reserved the ready, set, camp option and it made everything so convenient, we just bought our bags and bedding. It stormed the night we were there and we stayed safe in the tent and stayed dry. It was pretty cool honestly. Brian’s property has a lot of different things to check out.

Weekend Trip to The Specialty Crop

We stayed at the Specialty Crop on a night with an epic lightning storm! Katie was so sweet to make sure we felt safe, and offered to let us hunker down with them in the basement if needed. We just got to (safely) enjoy the show from the porch. We were lucky to sample their delish homemade bread and leave with fresh eggs! Our girls loved it!

Weekend Trip to Uncle B's Produce Farm

Uncle Brian's Hippie Bus is beautifully situated on the edge of a lovely, well-kept property. We especially liked the "misting gazebo" with a water spray to stave off hot weather, and the special touches like the magical bridge to get to the bus, and the walking trail near the bus that led to a mini-Mount Rushmore. Clearly Uncle B. maintains his property with love and a touch of magic and creativity!
