Fisher's Peak Ranch is a private community with 2 access gates. The rental camp site is approximately 3 miles into the ranch from the gate. The first 2 miles are well maintained ranch roads, with the last leg climbing up to the top of my 35 acre ranch. Most of the year the road is fine, but heavy snow or rain has required a 4 wheel drive at times. You'll be overlooking the city of Trinidad, with an extremely stunning view of Fisher's Peak. Electrical power is available with 30 amp RV connection, and several 110V standard outlets as well. Enjoy complete privacy as the site is on the end of a dedicated road. From the camp site, you'll be looking down at Simpsons Rest and the entire city of Trinidad. To the south, you can see parts of Raton Pass. Watch the clouds light up with the sunsets. You'll be taking lots of pictures, everyone does.

The property is in a very quiet and secluded area where you will not be bothered by noisy neighbors or busy roads.

Because of its southern Colorado geography, snow typically does not accumulate deeper than 3"-4", even in the deepest winter months, so it makes camping just as easy and pleasant from November through March. Each campsite has its own character and unique views of nature, so nine camping trips on each of our sites will feel different from the previous adventure, each presenting a distinctly intimate feel. Additionally, a great benefit of Cedar Hills Oliva Ranch is while campers may enjoy deafening silence and see every star in the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night, just 10 minutes from the ranch south on CR 69 lies a 24-hour gas station and three fast food restaurants. From there, another 5 minutes south, is the historic town of Walsenburg, where you may find expanded restaurant choices, a Safeway, and hardware store for other provisions - and more! In case of a "medical mishap," Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is approximately 18 minutes from any of our campsites, and open 24 hours. Lastly, while not visible from the ranch, a new cell tower was erected approximately 2 miles northeast and is very reliable from anywhere on the ranch when having a clear view of the eastern horizon. You can drive to the Great Sand Dunes Park in about an hour.  Here on the ranch land you can hike, bike, 4-wheel, ride your horses, snowmobile and watch the deer and the antelope play. Hunter's are welcome, but not on the ranch land. There is hunting and fishing on State Trust Lands and Wildlife Areas here in Huerfano County. You'll have clear views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, The Spanish Peaks, Silver Mountain (AKA Baldy), Sheep and Little Sheep Mountains and Greenhorn Mountain...  Not to mention star filled skies... At this time our septic and water are not completed so you'll want to stay with your self-contained RV. I am building a house now at the top of the hill but, no one lives there. P.S. Horses welcome. Lathrop State Park (2 lakes), the Spanish Peaks Medical Center Hospital and the Walsenburg Golf Course are only 5 minutes from the lot. You can drive to the Great Sand Dunes Park in about an hour.  Here on the ranch land you can hike, bike, 4-wheel, ride your horses, snowmobile and watch the deer and the antelope play. Hunter's are welcome, but not on the ranch land. There is hunting and fishing on State Trust Lands and Wildlife Areas here in Huerfano County. You'll have clear views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, The Spanish Peaks, Silver Mountain (AKA Baldy), Sheep and Little Sheep Mountains and Greenhorn Mountain...  Not to mention star filled skies... At this time our septic and water are not completed so you'll want to stay with your self-contained RV. I am building a house now at the top of the hill but, no one lives there. P.S. Horses welcome. Please keep the gate closed.

Close to restaurants, Trinidad Lake, Fischers Peak Park , biking , and hiking, scenic drives to Cuchara.

This is a lovely spot that we had all to our selves. We parked our trailer near the river and could listen to it all night long. This was a convenient location to both Curchara (2 miles) and La Veta (9 miles), plus all of the hiking trails and lakes in the surrounding national forest. I'm sure we will be coming back.

Beautiful and spacious site. It is close to the highway making access easy, especially if you have a large rig (we camped with a 28’ fifth wheel and 16’ trailer and had PLENTY of space). River runs next to site. Trees and brush surrounding, making it private with great views. Close to La Veta and Cuchara. Cows might greet you from the neighboring pasture!

The Lone Spruce was hands-down one of the easiest Hipcamp sites we’ve ever found—great layout, spotless, and super welcoming. The host was amazing (I’m still not convinced she didn’t secretly train the wildlife to show up on cue just for our review). Night one: my wife and I are sitting down to dinner when I glance out the camper window and—casual as can be—a bear strolls by on the other side of the river. Later that evening, while enjoying a gorgeous sunset, two giant bucks wandered through the site like they were auditioning for a nature documentary. Not to be outdone, the second night a parade of turkeys marched across the river as if they were in on the whole thing. We left with full bellies, full camera rolls, and full hearts. The Lone Spruce isn’t just a campsite—it’s a front-row ticket to the wildlife channel, minus the commercials. We’ll definitely be back, and if you’re lucky, maybe the host will “release the animals” on schedule for you too. Highly recommended!
