That's pretty awesome if you ask us. Picacho truly calls to all hardy adventurers. It was a gold mining town with 100 citizens more than a century ago.
This park offers rugged desert mountains, colorful canyons, and the Colorado River. Keep an eye out for beavertail cactus, wild burros, the famous bighorn sheep and thousands of migratory birds. We have an 80-acre Organic Medjool Date farm located at the base of the Gila Mountains in Wellton, AZ. We are a bit off the beaten path but once you get here it's so worth the drive. The star gazing is amazing and if you like off-roading there are trails everywhere out here!
We have an onsite Brewery and restaurant, open seasonally to guests and to the public. High Tanks Brewing Co is open November-April, Thu-Sun. I loved camping here! I felt comfortable, safe, and respected.
This location is far enough from downtown to be nice & quiet. Close enough to have easy access to anything one might need.
Parking and hooking up were made easy by Doug helping me.
Laura & her husband Doug (and tgeir lively, well-behaved dogs) have become new friends.
I feel lucky to have found them through HipCamp.
I greatly enjoyed my stay here!

We stayed at Yuma’s Own Little Campland for a week on our annual trip south to visit friends.
I found the spot while searching facilities in Yuma that could accommodate our needs, largely a place to land at night to sleep as the rest of the time we were seeing the sights with our many "snowbird" friends there.
Campland filled that need perfectly at a very fair price. It was clean and well maintained. The included access to a washing machine was a nice bonus! Keith and Shirley could not have been nicer to work with and their seasonal residents spoke very highly of them.
We appreciate the stay folks, and will be sure to look you up should we come down again next year!

Weekend Trip to Brewery on an Organic Date Farm
This is my second time staying at the farm and I have to say it is such a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The yurts are amazing and decorated so nice. The bed is very comfortable and there is a heater for the cooler nights. Outside of the yurt is a propane fire pit. They serve wonderful food and cold drinks at their restaurant and bar. On weekends there is live entertainment.
The staff at the farm is super attentive.

A wonderful, unique experience. Had went to visit the brewery and didn't know they had the bell tents. Came back two night later and spent the night. Few things I would list.
1. Great food at the brewery. Smoke their own meats and local produce.
2. Night skies were incredible. The view walking in the date farm is amazing.
3. Tents were heated (if going early in year) and beds comfortable. Personal propane fire pit was nice.
4. Beer very good.

We had a wonderful time at River Sand’s! The 2 bedroom + loft was perfect for our family of 4. It felt like our cosy home was plopped down in the middle of a desert oasis! Surrounded by nature, RVs, campers, and sky! The clubhouse and pool were our favorite part, and make it feel like a resort hotel. We would definitely rent a cabin again, but plan to come back to camp as well. The laundry and shower facilities were a plus! The staff is so friendly and covered every detail! Highly recommended!

We had a group off 8 people staying in 4 Yurts at the High Tanks/Naked Date Farm. Had a wonderful time. The Yurts were clean and nicely decorated. Everything we all needed for a Valentine weekend. The people working there were all very kind and went above and beyond making us coffee and donuts in the morning. I highly recommend this place and will make a point to stay again.

When was the last time you went to a campground and the host's instructions were, "Park anywhere... ?" Sounds like a dream, right? Well when there are endless rows of palm trees now you're faced with TOO MUCH choice!
We settled a couple of rows over and well back from another camper and were delighted with the seclusion we enjoyed all night long.
We were there on a Friday night, so took advantage of the beer, restaurant and live music through the early evening. Was a fun crowd, lots of chatter and dancing. Things wind down pretty early, so was quiet well before bedtime.

When you camp at one of the 54 campsites here, you truly get away from it all. Sleep under the stars and gaze unhindered at the celestial bodies above you. If you feel small in a large universe, don't worry. That's normal.

When to go

This is a desert, so stock up on extra water and sunscreen, it gets super hot (up to 120˚, with 108˚ as the average in July!)

Taylor Lake Campground is totally hidden gem in the park, check it out (site #4 especially).

In the Main Campground, sites above 40 are much more spread out on the southern portion of the campground. There is a nice ridge that divides 45 & 47 from 41-43, 53 backs up to an old cemetery (ohh, spooky!) and the area between 46 & 53 is open and flat, and so is the loop 2-12.

One of the best ways to explore the area is along many of the dirt roads. We highly recommend travelling in a 4WD as it makes it easier for everyone and your car.
