Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

This property was purchased by my husband and I in 1980 from Margret Cetera mother of Peter Cetera lead singer of the band Chicago. When purchased the home was a small non descript cottage with a pole barn in the back field. It has grown to support grape, blackberry and muscedime vines.The original home has expanded through time and around 20 years ago, the pole barn was converted into a large 1200 square foot cabin with modern conveniences. My husband and I actually enjoyed living full time in the cabin for a period of 5 years before returning to reside in the main house. The cabin consists of 1 large common space room with sitting area and kitchen. The antique farm sink has hot and cold running water. Also available is a large refrigerator, toaster, microwave oven, hot plate, coffee pot and portable dishwasher. The antique Hoosier cabinet holds cooking utensils and silverware and located above the kitchen counter you will find plates, bowls, cups and glasses for your use. The water is well water, pure and delicious without chemicals. The cabin is equipped with a full size pool table for our guests enjoyment. The master bedroom offers a comfortable sleigh bed, full bathroom with shower and just outside the bedroom is a comfortable patio to enjoy, complete with table and chairs for two and outdoor fire place. Also available is a twin bed tucked in the corner of the area between the main room and bedroom. For guests wishing to continue their exercise routine, a modern treadmill is available as well. Walk the spacious well landscaped yard with multiple seating venues including a large hammock. For a quiet night of movie enjoyment, bring your favorite movies and make use of the DVD/VCR machine and wide screen television. We also have canoe/ kayak day rentals on property with Lookout creek 5 miles away or Nickajack Lake and bat cave 15 miles away that is perfect to go down in canoe or kayak.

We offer a unique experience of staying in a Tipi for the ultimate in glamping. For your convenience There is air/heat in the Tipi. 3 gallons of spring water from a local spring, cooler with ice, snacks, assortments of coffees, teas, 1 bottle of wine, ( each night) bedding, pillows, blankets, tableware, lanterns/ candles, a pot, local maps ,brochures and travel tips, toiletries, towels, soap, shampoo/ conditioner, fire wood, s'mores kit, marshmallow roasters, fire starters, propane gas grill, grill utensils, 2 camping chairs all included. A perfect Birthday/ Anniversary / date night / fire pit with free fire table, cute outhouse only 4 steps away from Tipi with a composting toilet, camping water heater for the hot shower with a 30 gallon gravity fed spring water tank for the shower and sink. Jacuzzi also steps away from tipi. Tipi is off grid but has electricity using generator and battery pack. A small creek below the tipi with a seasonal flow.

Perfect little location for some fall trees and a little getaway. The cabin had everything I needed with the extra bonus of the personal hot tub! Instructions about everything in the cabin were very easy to follow. I also appreciated how this one felt a little more secluded than some of the neighbors!

We had a fabulous time at Betsy and Jon’s place! Down to how the lights were set up on arrival they made sure everything was ready. The little town is wonderful, would take you about a week to really get into everything there is to do. The camper and instructions are very easy. Recommend The Hatter cafe for breakfast, Mentone market for lunch, and bama boys for dinner. (Little further drive) the property was beautiful and wonderful quiet road for walking. Nature everywhere! Hippie hole, is excellent!

Cathedral Caverns is so awesome! It is $18 for a cave tour, and you can't do it without going on the tour-- it was SO worth it! It's so incredible in there. The guide will tell you all about how it was discovered and it's so neat to think about someone just going in a cave and discovering this amazing area all underground. After the cave tour, we walked around the trails and they are nice too. Didn't see many people on them. Make sure to stay if you see a little fence to stay inside it, because it backs up to other people's land. They have a trail map in the gift shop and a sign at the trail head- it's a little easy to get turned around but all the trails meet up with each other so it's not bad! I would definitely recommend it.
