Overview

About

First thing's first, let’s find you a campsite. Oh, look! There are some secluded sites that overlook the clear waters of Steinaker Reservoir. Perfect, now that we’ve got that detail sorted, let’s get going on some activities. Hmm…you could assemble your team and have a fishing contest to see who can snag the biggest bass. Or, relax on the sandy beaches, only interrupting your hardcore chill sesh to take a swim. For a slightly more educational pastime, explore the area, aptly monikered Dinosaurland. This region is home to tons of fossils and other artifacts of our country’s ancient past, and Steinaker is the perfect base camp to dig deeper into this fascinating bit of natural history.

When to go

The best time to visit Steinaker State Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the park's full range of activities can be enjoyed. Winter brings a serene beauty, but access to some areas may be limited due to snow.

Know before you go
