As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after, it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today. An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean. Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility. Today the land still gives back to its visitors. Come recharge. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads. Aloha and have a great day.

We are a commercial orchid farm starting the homestead 8 years ago. Lava caused us to evacuate 2 years ago before it stopped a mile above the farm and Malama Market. We have a lava tube on the property you can explore. It’s so tall in some places, you can drive a school bus through. Good to bring headlamps if you're interested in this and just for walking around the farm when there is no moon! We are currently constructing a wood fired pizza oven in the place where our picnic tables and eating area are located.Pitch your tent or stay in one of our rooms or junglelows in the middle of our orchid nursery. We have outdoor kitchen, hot showers and flushing toilets. Located in the heart of Puna in the country but only 10 min walk to the village of Pahoa. This area has a lot to offer including tide pools, black sand beaches, warm spring and sauna caves.

Kids love the three-level treehouse, and families enjoy meeting our friendly farm animals: horses, cows, and farm dogs. At night, the Kaʻū Desert transforms into one of the darkest skies in the world. With no city lights for miles, stargazing is beyond incredible. Lay back with a blanket and marvel at the Milky Way, constellations, and even passing satellites or meteor showers. Our farm is rooted in Hawaiian values of sustainability, ʻohana (family), and aloha ʻāina (love for the land). We're happy to offer an optional guided farm tour or share stories about off-grid living and the volcanic history of the land. Guests leave not only rested, but deeply connected to the land and local culture. Please note: we are truly off the beaten path—no streetlights, no traffic, and no tourists. Wild Webs Camp – Off-Grid Retreat Near the Volcano Welcome to Wild Webs Camp, a quiet, off-grid camping retreat set in the lush landscape near Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. This is a place to slow down, unplug, and experience something rare: the process of creating large-scale, hand-woven net structures in nature. Our land is home to Wild Webs—custom, hand-woven net installations crafted slowly and intentionally. These webs are designed as lounging and resting spaces, woven into the environment to complement the land rather than dominate it. Guests are invited to relax nearby, watch the weaving process unfold, and enjoy the calm rhythm of hands-on craftsmanship in the forest. This is not a finished resort or a high-traffic attraction. Wild Webs Camp is evolving, and part of its charm is witnessing something being built over time. You may see us measuring, knotting, tensioning, and shaping the webs as the days pass—an experience that many guests find grounding, meditative, and inspiring. Surrounded by native forest, lava rock, and the powerful presence of the nearby volcano, the camp offers deep quiet, dark skies, and a strong connection to the elements. Vog, mist, rain, and shifting weather are part of life here and add to the raw beauty of the experience. This is a rustic, off-grid stay. No hookups, minimal infrastructure, and a strong emphasis on personal responsibility and respect for the land. Bring what you need, move slowly, and enjoy the simplicity. Please note: • Wild Webs are intended for lounging and visual experience only, not active play • Children must be supervised at all times • This is a working, creative space—expect authenticity, not polish Perfect for nature lovers, creatives, couples, and families who appreciate quiet moments, craftsmanship, and being close to something truly unique. 25mi from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park · 1 site
Hipcamp’s best, most temperate, comfortable weather on the island. Parking is available outside the gate, with additional space inside a locked double-wide gate for secure access. Room for a van, truck, RV, or car (no hookups). A few extra spots may be available if you need multiple—just let me know. The property sits under a canopy of rainbow eucalyptus on 3 quiet acres, backed by a Hawaiian reserve. The cabin is a tranquil 2-bedroom, semi–open-air space with a loft. The loft is accessed by small stairs and is not disability accessible. The other sleeping area is open with new flooring—please bring a sleep pad. There is no bed at this time. An attached open-air kitchen area includes water collection and basic food utensils. Message me with any needs or questions, and I’ll do my best to help. There’s also a solar setup you can connect to if you have a solar generator. The food forest and garden areas are young and still establishing. If you hike, stay aware of your surroundings—there are lava tubes and uneven drops. The trails are safe if you choose to explore. You’ll also find the biggest ʻōhiʻa I’ve ever seen near the corner of the cabin. I value respect and privacy, and you can count on that from me. If you happen to notice my security camera, it is not active. While you’re here, it’s your place—your liberty and peace matter most. Make yourself at home and enjoy.

Camp under a starry sky with an unobstructed view of Mount Kilauea across a vast and bare moon-like landscape. Fire pit with a grill for cooking, benches, and a beautiful new composting toilet structure made from local albizia, ohia, and guava wood. Mostly hot and sunny, with occasional rain. Access to Volcanoes National Park and Kehena Beach. Learn more about this land: Lava covered the site on 5 September 1990, after more than a thousand years of peaceful fertility. The flow met the Hakuma horst and was diverted north, filling the village of Kalapana and the beautiful Kaimu Bay. Lava continued to flow in the area for another 20 years, until 2011. We are restoring the fertility by bringing in mulch and soil and planting coconuts, mango trees, moringa, plumeria, figs, dragonfruits, and more. Near the camp sites we've recently constructed a house out of local wood; it provides some shelter from the nearly constant trade winds. Premium strawberry guava BBQ firewood can be purchased by prior arrangement. There's a shower with cold water; it doesn't get very cold! 1 mile from ocean cliffs, 2 miles to a basic grocery store and a great weekly farmers market, 2.5 miles to Volcanoes National Park, 5 miles to Kehena public black sand beach at the base of the cliffs, with a community drum circle on Sundays. Welcome to the wild coast of South Puna! Optionally produce from our nearby rainforest garden. We may offer guided tours to local historical caves and bicycle trips to hidden beaches deep inside Volcanoes National Park.
