Located in a wonderful farm setting, enjoy the sweet breezes, gorgeous sunsets and farm life while still in the city and close to some of the best beaches in East Oahu! We are located on the foothills of the famous Koko Head hike, and only five minutes to Hanauma Bay, shopping centers, dining, and grocery stores. Watch a magical sunset from the communal kitchen area, with a spectacular view of Diamond Head crater and the surrounding coast- it's all in one!
*Please be aware there are many wild hens and roosters roaming around the neighborhood and property. You will enjoy your stay here if you're comfortable closely co-existing with nature and the sounds that come with it. Please plan accordingly.
If you'd like to catch some waves or need a ride around time, we have surfboards available for rent, Parking is also available on site. Just let us know your needs and we'll do our best to accommodate for a wonderful stay!

We are a 5th generation family farm on the slopes of Haleakala, just a 3 mile drive up from historic Makawao town. Our great grandfather purchased a 40 acre ranch in 1957 as his retirement, homestead dream. With rolling hills of pastures, our farm is the ideal location for a secluded camping getaway with ocean views and Maui. Sadly, our property was hit severely by the August 2023 fires caused by downed electric lines. Your support of camping on our family farm helps us recover little by little and help us maintain such a huge responsibility of weeding invasive trees and weeds, along with repairs and fence building after so much loss.

The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato. After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby.We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

Sun Farms exceeded my expectations when it came to visiting the area while car camping. The amenities on sight, the privacy of the bathrooms & showers, and the quietness of its location- couldn’t have been much better of a place to call “home base” for 5 nights. The evenings were peaceful and all the decorative lightening made it feel like a charming fairytale. The staff were all extremely friendly and did an excellent job of maintaining the public use areas clean & tidy.
Will definitely be staying again! ☀️

Me and my daughter had an amazing time and our best decision was to camp in Marcos and Michelle's site. Sun farm is beautifully taken care and the people that stay there are super cool too. They have lovely projects around the farm and the structure is well cared and have everything you need. It is super safe as well and well located to visit the best spots in the island. A big thanks to Marcos and Michelle.

This campsite is amazing because it’s located in a prime location that’s easy to explore many of Oahu’s highlights. It’s also close to restaurants and grocery stores or anything else you could want or need. The site it’s self is quite and beautiful.

Everything was as described. The site was level and close to the nice restroom and nice hot outdoor shower. The washer and drier was an added bonus. We had been looking forward to purchasing some fruit but nothing was ripe :( it was convenient and I would definitely recommend it.

Staying at the Sun Farm was great! We camped at multiple spots around the island, and they had the most hostel feel to it! The charging options on site with a fridge was perfect for our last night before leaving, as we we were able to have things available to use the next day. Hot water in the showers and our site was right next to the office. We were able to participate in the Sun Farm tour and we HIGHLY recommend! If we visit the Sun Farm again we would like to explore their cabin/tent options for sure!

Camping on the farm was a delightful experience! Would highly recommend. All the extra amenities (hot shower, bathrooms, outdoor kitchen) made our experience so much nicer. It was an excellent place to meet new people; other campers and volunteers were all so friendly. P.S. Waimea their puppy dog was an absolute sweetheart.

A lovely site with great staff and amenities. There’s a full kitchen which was really nice and 2 hot showers, also fantastic. Easy to find. I stayed in a campervan and you’re a bit close to other tent campers but that’s pretty clear prior to booking. Good location near Koko head and the city if you’re into that.

The cutest lil spot ever! It is so beautiful, and we really enjoyed walking through the gardens and the communal kitchen. 11/10 recommend this spot.
The only thing that was a slightly bothersome, is if you come here in a camper van, you really don't have much privacy around your site.
