Exceptional National Park Experience
Day trip to Dry Tortugas is well worth the ferry cost, such an exceptional and otherworldly National Park experience. I would love to have the opportunity to return and spend a night at the campground (sold out within seconds when I tried to book and was never able to swoop a cancellation via Hipcamp Alerts) Pro tip: Pack your own snorkeling gear so you can be first in the water after the docks.

A castaway experience (in the best way)
What an amazing experience. We spent three nights on Garden Key. Snorkeling all day and then relaxing under the palms by night, I have never felt more at peace. Saw tons of aquatic life, with some sharks a little too close for comfort at times 🫣. If you camp, bring a kayak and paddle out to Loggerhead Key one of the days. The Little Africa reef will make you feel like you’re diving in an aquarium.

The flight is worth the extra money. Especially if you are the 8am flight. Only 20 of you on the island plus staff and a few campers

This place is awesome! We took our boat from Key West and spent 2 nights at Fort Jefferson. You have to pack EVERYTHING including water. The ferry boat comes each day so you can buy food & take HOT (really hot) outdoor showers. We went in mid July and even though it was super warm at night, the seas were flat calm the entire time. With a private boat you can go over to Loggerhead Key which is about a mile away. It has a lighthouse and awesome snorkeling. There’s also a shipwreck to the south of Loggerhead you can snorkel. If going during the hotter months, bring shade tents, we only had 1 and it was a must. The flys can get bad so bring traps or a trash can to secure your trash. This is a must do trip, the sunsets from the fort are amazing!

The ferry costs $195 return. If you choose to park your car there, it costs $15 per 24 hours. https://www.drytortugas.com/key-west-camping
The Park Service will collect a campsite fee of $15 to $30 per night based on the size of your party. This fee is payable to the National Park Service once you are at Fort Jefferson. Correct change is appreciated.

Do not attach anything to a tree. Campground trees & shrubs are crucial for providing shade and windbreak. Help protect this valuable vegetation. Do not attach ropes, hammocks, tents, laundry lines, or any other materials to campground trees. All camping gear must be free standing*.
• The 11 campsites are available on a 1st come, 1st served basis. However, the Park Service reserves the right to designate camping sites to visitors of the park.
• Space is limited. Each of the regular campsites contains a table & grill. Three tents & 6 campers are the maximum allowed per campsite. All tents must remain within 10 feet of your table. Be prepared to share the limited campground area with others.

Reservations are required.
Pack all food in airtight containers to discourage rats.
Propane containers (i.e. Coleman Propane)are not allowed. Self starting charcoal or sterno cans are the only form of fuel allowed.
Arrive at the Yankee Freedom III, on the day of your departure to Fort Jefferson, NO LATER THAN 6:30 AM! Yankee Freedom III will only transport campers who wish to stay.
Limit your provisions & coolers to 60 pounds per person (not including water).
There is no store or showers.
A total of 3 kayaks/small canoes transported on any trip. $20 fee each
Quiet hours from 10 PM to 6PM.
Campers must have all gear on the dock (NOT left in camping area) by 10:30AM on the day of departure from Ft. Jefferson
