This is our second time staying at this yurt. The first year was amazing and is what led to the choice to make it a yearly tradition. This year was a totally different experience. Upon arrival this time the yurt REEKED LIKE POOP. Like an outhouse. There was also hundreds of bugs everywhere. And do poop all down the hill leading to the yurt. The batteries in the lights were dead, the air mattress was gone even tho it is listed. I messaged the host and she agreed to provide a partial refund due to deplorable conditions. We went into town and got insence to try and fight the disgusting odor. And powered thru our trip. Upon exit she sent me these photos stating a refund would no longer happen because we destroyed her yurt and she will have to replace furniture. All that is in these photos is ash, and a candy wrapper. That is ash. She said it needs replacing. You can tell the photo was taken before any attempt to clean it. They are con artists. Don't stay here. I will be pursuing legal action and contacting hipcamp. It's that bad. Deplorable, unsanitary conditions at a premium price. Here are photos she provided of her RUINED YURT.

Terrible. The toilet is right next to the bed-did you know a composting toilet is very similar to an outhouse (odors and all!)?
The "potable water in jugs" was one jug on the front steps, with a little water, and a lots of Algae!
The "water Front" property includes a SIGNIFICANT vertical climb, which you get to enjoy while carrying the included Kayaks.
ALL of which are not accurately represented by the photos and description
I messaged the owner right away with concerns, who was "unable to issue a refund". Don't waste your money! This is literally a property with a nice view that someone stuck a tent on to make money. If you want comfort, book a hotel! If you want to rough it, book a campsite. If you want to sleep next to the feces bucket of a stranger from last night, this is the place for you!

The location of the site was wonderful with the view and access to the water. Yes, the neighbors are closer than you will want. The blasting of music in the morning from the neighbor was not pleasant but the owner can’t change that. So let’s go back to what can’t be changed and improvements.
The site itself had lots of disappointments. BRING YOUR CAMPING KITCHEN!!! We didn’t thinking full basic kitchen supplies would be there. A designated walking path would be better to the site and water. There are no steps. Plants are cleared. It’s a great kayaking spot. There is no shade cover. No willow tree as the name suggest, so make plans to get out of the heat during summer. A few basic cleaning supplies would be great like a small broom/dust pan and wipes to get clean things up before use. There’s no shed or storage other than under the yurt so supplies get dirty. Labeling the bins would help keep things organized for owner and visitor.
The Yurt is beautiful. There are plenty of blankets available. The composting toilet was easy to use. We would consider staying again but just coming more prepared with our own kitchen set up.

View was beautiful. Yurt was cozy and clean. If you have more than 2 people, bring your own sleeping pad / air mattress. We enjoyed the fire pit and our dogs had a great time. I was worried about the “friendly neighborhood dogs” around my own dogs but the only encounter we had was as we were leaving and the owner was quick to call them back. The walk to the water is steep but we expected this based on other reviews. It is very rocky so beware with children/pets. We had hoped the kayaks were down by the stairs to the water as shown in one of the photos but they were stored halfway up the hill and with the heat, we didn’t want to lug them down and back up. I would definitely go again in the fall/spring. The yurt gets so hot by mid-day and there isn’t any shade outside. It was difficult to stay cool. Nights were amazing though!

My kids and I had an amazing time! Beautiful views, close to the ferry, clean, cozy and worth every penny. We will be making this trip a yearly tradition

PNW Waterfront Yurt
The yurt and the view were incredible, but I wish we knew more about the property before we booked. Due to the steep drop off and very steep walk down to water, we were on constant toddler and dog death watch - especially with neighborhood cats roaming around. Unfortunately we were deterred from spending as much time outside as we would have liked since it was too dangerous for our 2 year old.

Beautiful yurt with a beautiful view!
We saw lot's of wildlife including seals, otters, jelly fish, rockfish (cought fishing), deer and even WHALES!! The whales came very early morning when it was still dark but epic experience.
Not reccomend for people with toddlers.
The campsite outside the yurt has a pretty large cliff that is covered in sticker bushes.
The trail to water is steep and a bit primitive.
The trail from car to yurt is easy an short but also steep.
Overall we loved our stay and would reccomend.
They also provide a nice bbq and fire pit.

Picturesque yurt + view. Was so clean and comfortable forgot I was in a yurt and not a hotel, and loved the beach access! We saw so many seals, and was so nice listening to the water before bed. The only bummer was one of the neighbors. We had known from other reviews/listing that there were two dogs that visit. We didn’t know that that meant stayed for long periods of time with the owners not in sight. Or it would mean enjoying ourselves and a random person coming through the site to find their dogs without saying a word. My husband tried to work with the guy to try to keep eye on his dogs but it became too much. He was rude and said he didn’t have time for his dogs, as if it was now our responsibility. So we dealt with his dog getting into our food (we had up) and peeing over some of outdoor chairs, with the owner just yelling and screaming for his dogs from afar. This all made our dog pretty anxious, and disrupted some peace so thankfully the hosts were very, very kind and offered to have us check-out a day early with a refund for that night. They were also having a block party that night. Next time we just wouldn’t have brought our pup so we focus on those dogs and not worry about our own and would have kept our chairs and floats inside incase of pups smelling our pup and wanting to mark their spot. All in all the yurt was worth it and the view was truly amazing. I would still recommend, and maybe just avoid any conversation with the neighbor.

Overall we had a great experience
The yurt was beautiful and clean and the view of the water and Tacoma city lights was amazing and Vashon Island was beautiful, and the host was very nice and quick to respond but unfortunately there was a constant buzzing noise from the porta potty next to the bed all day and all night that destroyed the piece and was very very annoying
You could not get away from the constant buzzing .
My recommendation is for the toilet to be outside of the yurt and away from the bed and do something about whatever the buzzing noise was. I wanted to make another reservation but I don’t think I can handle the noise for another couple of nights

Great location and setting. Actually even better in person than presented online. Yurt is very comfortable and clean with everything you need for a glamping experience. Car is parked right up the hill so easy to get your stuff over. Would definitely stay again!

We loved the yurt! And all of the amazing wildlife! The yurt itself is absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable. The area outside was great for relaxing and enjoying the ocean view. It is at a slant downwards, so just a heads up if you are cooking on a camp stove. There are two pups that come over to say hi, so be prepared for visitors.

We loved the yurt and the location can't be beat. Beautiful and seems to be newly constructed yurt and gorgeous view out to the puget sound. The bed was very comfy and the thick duvet kept us nice and warm.
We saw SO MANY eagles near the yurt and walking on the beach. We also saw otters, seals, and lots of shellfish in the tidal flats! Such a great experience, we'd love to come back when the sun is out and we can take advantage of the kayaks! Thank you for a lovely stay!
The only improvement that could be made would be to have all the provided amenities and check-in/check-out instructions listed out more clearly, it was a little confusing to know what all was provided and what we needed to bring. The cooking tools in the bins were very disorganized so we just ended up using the ones we brought.

LOVED THIS PLACE!! We went kayaking, grilled out ( they provide propane grill so you can cook during fire ban). A view of Mt Rainier from BED!! Luckily Mt Ranier was out all weekend for us because it’s not always out.

Pros: Absolutely beautiful views. Great decorations. Cute spot on Vashon. Vashon has limited (to none?) public beaches so having access to water was clutch. The check in process as so easy.
Mehs: Compostable toilet during the very hot weather wasn’t great. I imagine this is fine in normal PNW weather. Neighbor’s spotlight shining on the fire pit area was a vibe killer. Note this place doesn’t have a shower. This was challenging with the very hot weather.

Awesome spot! We’re looking forward to coming back in the future. Spent hours sitting and watching all of the beautiful surroundings and petting the friendly neighbor dogs. It was honestly a dream.

The yurt was beautiful inside and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable. The view of Mt Rainier made it a really special spot. My 5-year-old and I walked down to the beach from the yurt and had a great time exploring. It was just perfect, and rejuvenating after a tough year. I've already recommended it to friends and am thinking about trying to make it an annual trip.

I found this place to be unlike any I've stayed at before. You are at once in a comfortable yurt with indoor potty on an undeveloped lot on the southern tip of Vashon Island AND having a view of the SeaTac metropolis, with a stunning view of Mt Rainier and the Port of Tacoma. There's a fair bit of noise from all of the activity on/over Puget Sound, so it's not totally quiet and peaceful, but there are harbor seals bobbing around offshore, a bunch of seabirds foraging during low tides, and either an osprey or an eagle residing in a tree right over the yurt (if I am not mistaken--not a big birder). Overall, the only thing that was inconvenient was not having water on site, but this was probably in the directions that I had read some time before arriving and did not recall. (That said, I am a fifty-something, harried parent, so it comes with the territory.) We had a good stay at PNW Waterfront Yurt, and I think 20-40 year old me would have liked it even more. It was great to be able to take our two large dogs and one of our kids. Plenty of space for the lot of us. Lovely spot and host.

The yurt is absolutely beautiful! Inside is like a nice condo! Selena is a great host that answered all of my questions promptly! There are little extras provided too in case you forget your wine key or silverware! It’s such a lovely property! You can sit and watch the wildlife for hours!!! Highly recommend!

STUNNING location and a wonderfully cozy and clean place to stay. We had an absolute blast staying at this yurt. The view is incredible, and just a short walk down to the water. The yurt itself is so so cute and cozy, it feels really spacious and is so clean and welcoming. We'll most definitely be back.

The yurt was a lovely spot to celebrate an anniversary with my partner. We loved that we were able to go down to the water and kayak with a bunch of friendly seals! Definitely important to remember it IS "glamping" so make sure to bring your own battery powered lights and lanterns to brighten up the big space at night. Salena was a very responsive and communicative host which we really appreciated. We enjoyed our time so much on Vashon Island and are looking forward to our next trip there sometime in the future!

We absolutely loved staying at The Whimsy Willow yurt. We really enjoyed making a nice cup of coffee using the French press provided by the host while looking at the habor seals in the morning. Our dog loved playing fetch in the water and the host even has kayaks you can use! The inside of the yurt was well maintained and beautifully modern. My recommendations for improvement would be adding some bathroom spray near the composting toilet (it’s right near the bed and sometimes you can smell it) and cleaning up the property or dog poop (we packed ours out with us but I’ve seen that not all visitors have done that, or it could be the neighbor dogs that visited us a few times). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and have talked about coming back next summer to enjoy the yurt again!
