Lyre River Retreat

The host was friendly and responsive. Their campground is peaceful and beautiful. It's nice to camp right on a river and especially near the beautiful Lake Crescent!

Great camping spot! The spot is right in-front of river and the most spacious in the campground. The host was nice. We had amazing experience beside the river, full of natural beauty.

The camp owners were lovely people. The river was beautiful. Just across the river the forest rose majestically from the bank. It was wonderful watchng birds catching silver minnows in the river. We had the camp site all to ourselves which was wonderful. If all the sites were full, I imagine it would not feel very private.

Our family had the most incredible stay at this campsite! Nestled right next to a beautiful river, the location is absolutely stunning—perfect for those who love being close to nature. The sound of the flowing water is so soothing, and the views are breathtaking. But what truly made this experience special were the hosts. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. They provided us with all the essentials, shared local tips, and even made sure we had everything we needed for a cozy night. It felt like staying with friends who genuinely cared about making our stay unforgettable. The site itself is clean, well-maintained, and very spacious. The bathrooms were the cleanest we have seen. There’s plenty of room for tents, and they’ve thoughtfully added some shaded areas which made our stay even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing hosts and the beauty of nature all around, this is the place to be. We will continue to return year after year!

We originally booked site 1 but the host let us know that site 2 was available as well and we could set up camp at 2 if we wanted. We ended up setting up at 2 but site 1 is literally next to it. We only stay 1 night here and really wished we had stayed longer! The river is right next to the camp sites and the sound of the river was very soothing to sleep to. Take a dip in the river, it's very refreshing and the water is so clear and clean! Camp was a short drive to Devil's Punchbowl. The host was very generous and let us borrow some oyster shuckers for oysters we had picked up along the way. Thank you so much!

What a beautiful experience! The property and river are absolutely gorgeous. We had a few families out this weekend to camp and adults and kids alike made so many memories! Lovely fairytale spot

This was a really peaceful & beautiful spot to camp. Carol was a lovely & thoughtful host who had a warmth & welcoming that went above & beyond & made the stay more personal & inviting. I highly recommend this magical, fairytale spot. Camp sites are fairly close together as stated, so just be prepared if privacy is important for your comfort, I was fortunate to have only one quiet neighbor camping nearby. My dog Lola & I will be back, this is such a convenient place to camp on the peninsula & so relaxing after a day of adventures, thank you Carol!

✨ Perfect Riverside Getaway

Carol and her husband were exceptional hosts, kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful with everything. They went above and beyond by providing a spacious canopy along with a large wooden picnic table and plenty of seating, enough to accommodate all 16 members of our group comfortably. The campsite is perfectly located right next to the river, where we enjoyed the soothing sound of flowing water all day long. There were plenty of outdoor activities, including cornhole and baseball, which kept everyone entertained. Our children absolutely loved spending four screen-free days there. We will definitely be coming back next summer! Thank you so much, Carol and her kind husband.

Our group of large families with children thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we had a wonderful time. Carol was very friendly and generously provided us with a spacious kitchen tent. We had a fantastic experience and will certainly be returning next summer. We highly recommend it!

Site 2 is absolutely beautiful- right on the river. We use Hipcamp as a way to get away from lots of people and state parks. Unfortunately there was a family reunion going on during our stay and they had booked sites 1-4 and took up the entire common area with volleyball and all of their things all over the communal picnic table under the awning- allowing us zero access to this. They had multiple screaming kids and it did not make for a very relaxing stay because the campsites are so close together. Site 1 is maybe 20 feet from site 2. The river is absolutely gorgeous and very peaceful, but we ended up leaving a day early due to the noise and lack of peaceful atmosphere. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this isn’t it. If you’re simply looking for a place to camp and do day trips out of, this was a great location. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are ok being surrounded by lots of people & potentially hearing screaming kids all day and evening.

The Lyre River Retreat – Site #3 was a beautiful riverside getaway, with the peaceful sound of flowing water as our backdrop the entire stay. The campsite was clean and well-kept, with a picnic table and a spotless portable toilet, all set in a quiet, private spot surrounded by nature. Even though there was a fire ban and no fire pit to use, we still had everything we needed to enjoy our time outdoors. Host Carol was warm and welcoming, checking in just enough to make sure we were comfortable without intruding. We didn’t spot any deer or other wildlife, but our dog had the best time swimming and playing in the clear river. It’s a perfect base for exploring Olympic National Park or just relaxing and unplugging for a few days — we can’t wait to return.

Beautiful spot! The river is peaceful and, as other commenters have said, acts as a sound dampener between the campsites. Cleanest port-a-potties I’ve ever stepped in. Carol came by to say hello- she is so sweet! Bug spray is helpful if you’re outside the tent at night.

This location was amazing! Right next to the river that my son spent hours on. Not super private, but private enough for our needs. Cleanest port a potty I have ever seen! We absolutely loved our time here. Thanks Carol!

This is the best camping spot I've been to! Carol made sure the entire campground was spotless. The access to a private river is unmatched. Carol was such a kind host and even was willing to charge my friend's portable C-PAP and bring it down. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and had everything we needed. I cannot recommend this spot enough. This is our official annual camping trip spot and we can't wait to come back. Thank you Carol!!

We LOVED our stay at Lyre River Camp. It was so serene and Carol is a delightful host. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a close, peaceful spot near Lake Crescent. It was the perfect launch spot for our day trips. Because it matters: the Port-o-Potty was incredibly clean!

Camping under the stars

We had a peaceful one nighter this past weekend at Lyre River Retreat. Host Carol was the perfectly welcoming and hospitable without being overbearing. The other guests were friendly and largely kept to themselves. Despite there being multiple campsites, the area is spacious and each site very much feels your own. From the creek to the treeline, there are endless photo-worthy vantage points to enjoy and the stargazing being the preeminent view. We will have a hard time choosing somewhere other than Lyre Creek for our next Hipcamp.
