Near Shenandoah National Park
Within a 30-minute drive from the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station.
Located at the base of the western Massanutten Ridge in the Shenandoah Valley, our six-acre property is nestled in the hamlet of Keezletown. Our campsite is located along a gurgling stream (Cub Run), perfect for wading in on hot summer days or falling asleep to as the evenings cool. Across the stream horses pasture, and in the field next to the campsite several goats graze. We are in a fantastic biking location: the winding back country roads make for wonderful road bike excursions. We are also just minutes down the road from the Western Slopes trails, over 25 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails. Other great hiking trails are nearby as well, and the Blue Ridge Mountains (Appalachian Trail) are an easy half-hour drive away. Our area abounds with wineries and breweries, both in bucolic settings with gorgeous views or in downtown Harrisonburg, which is a 10-minute drive away, and also home to a variety of great dining options. Other options include the water park at the Massanutten Resort, just around the mountain from us, or kayaking on the Shenandoah River. Or spending a quiet day on the property in the shade of the sycamores, listening to the water flow by.

Pitch your tent beside our stream on a grassy site with a fire ring, table and chairs. Firewood is provided for the first night. (Additional bundles available for $10/per.) The site is on the edge of a flat, bottomland field where our two goats, Chip Cuddles and Sophie Frost Pink, live. They will love your company! Across the stream is a grassy hay field adjacent to a horse pasture, where the neighboring horse farm's horse often graze on a hillside, above which the Massanutten Ridge rises. We have found several old Native American arrowheads in the field while gardening; the foundation remnants of an old grain mill are also located on the property nearby, which might date to pre-Civil War era. We are in a fantastic biking location: the winding back country roads make for wonderful road bike excursions. The Resting Nest is a converted farm outbuilding with 400+ square feet of space to relax in, out of the elements. Enjoy a quiet morning beside the picture window that overlooks the goat field. Catch glimpses of horses and mountains through the lush foliage. Elevated platforms are available for sleeping and lounging. Outside is a picnic table and fire pit. While the building does not have water or electric, there is a hydrant very close by. A quick 1-minute walk from parking.

Great place with amazing views
The Resting Nest
I loved staying in The Resting Nest—plenty of room, great breezes through the window screens (though one of them doesn’t have a screen, so don’t open that one), chatty goats, and a helpful host. My legs are a bit too short to sleep on the platform without jumping up, but putting my camp mattress on the floor worked great. I used a little camping headlamp to go from the car to the building to the porta potty at night and would definitely recommend that to anyone a little unsteady on their feet at night because it is downhill. David was helpful every step of the way, and the property and area are really gorgeous in fall! (I hadn’t realized how close it was to Harrisonburg, but it’s very convenient for food/ice runs.)

We had a great time at the site as it served as an ideal touchpoint for our trips to Shenandoah. The directions were very clear and David seemed willing to help had we run into any issues. Stream was the perfect noise to lull you to sleep! Would certainly return.

Gorgeous spot along side a creek. The property entrance is a steep gravel hill, 4WD/AWD is certainly recommended if not required. The goats were awesome and we even caught a double rainbow in a spurt of rain!

It was peaceful and loved the goats! We arrived later than anticipated. Much better to set up in daylight. We had a nice stay. A friend that was with us then had never been camping before enjoyed it as well. We would go again!

The quintessential camping spot! This was my wife's first camping trip and the setting was perfect. The brook allows for onsite swimming that is kid friendly. Chairs and tables were super helpful with a great view of the horses. There were goats who were so friendly behind a fence. Definitely plan on a revisit next time I'm in the area.

Shady creekside fun for dogs

Wonderful shaded campsite by a gentle creek. Communication with our host (David) was great and despite arriving after dark for check-in, we had zero issues locating the site with the directions provided. My dogs loved swimming in the creek to escape the summer heat and we were able to meet two sweet goats, who live on the property. Had a wonderful time and 10/10 would recommend booking this Hipcamp.

Great spot! Exactly as advertised! The babbling brook was beautiful music to sleep to and otherwise it was a very quiet spot. The goats were friendly and playful 😊 and the fireflies were out (late May). We got in and out of the spot in our Prius (no 4 wheel drive) because of fresh gravel and ideal weather conditions. Overall had a great time and our pup enjoyed it too! 🐶

We had a great time on Dave’s property! We were only able to stay one night but definitely could have stayed longer. The site is nicely secluded but easy to find with the instructions our host provided. The stream next to the site was really nice and honestly helped us sleep. An added bonus was the abundant songbirds in the morning near the stream and around the field. We would totally stay again!

Great campsite amongst the farms with access to the National Parks. Cute goats and horses next door. Communicative host that gets you started with firewood. Absolutely need a 4x4 vehicle

Very nice couple of nights at Wild Phlox Farm. Site was well kept with a supply of fire wood and kindling, porta potty and water available a short walk. David was very welcoming and friendly and let it be know to contact him if I needed anything. Site was quiet and peaceful with beautiful sunrises over the horse field across the brook, Goats were fun and always said hello as you walked past! Would recommend and hope to visit again. FYI--Motorcycle had no problem with the short but steep gravel hill to site. Great site for motorcycle camping.

Campsite was clean. The table and chairs by the fire made things very comfortable. Dave was highly responsive and provided a generous supply of firewood/fire starter. The campsite is within eyesight and earshot of the road/neighboring houses, something to consider for campers looking for total seclusion.

We car camped/rtt on the site. Loved that it was next to a little stream. The property was very well taken care of. Enjoyed that there were table and chairs at the site. It was a bonus to have a John on site for bathroom needs. The only downside I can think of was that we did hear a bit of traffic through the evening, but nothing to complain about.

This camping spot was absolutely wonderful. It was private, had immaculate views, and the steam was an added bonus. I loved how quiet the site was and how easy it was to unwind and be outside here.

Great site! The shelter was roomy, furnished, and offered wonderful morning views to enjoy with coffee. The elevated sleeping platform provided extra space between us and the floor and made for comfy sleeping. The fire pit and provided wood were much appreciated, especially on a chilly fall evening. We loved visiting with the goat babes and Billy the cat. The porter john and parking area are a very short walk away. Site was advertised perfectly. We loved it!

Loved this campsite! Such a beautiful and peaceful spot right by the stream with views of the mountains, horses grazing in a neigboring field, and goat friends at your doorstep! Would 10/10 reccommend.

Very pretty campsite near creek, we found it very peaceful. The directions first were overwhelming but we found the place pretty easy to get to. Has goats living nearby hut they were not a bother at all and pretty cute. I definitely recommend

Really nice place. Super simple and bare bones, but well kept and clean. Platform bed area was perfect for a mattress pad (double) and two sleeping bags for my wife and I. Very, warm and welcoming. Clear directions.
