Spacious Skies Shenandoah Views is a serene slice of heaven, conveniently located just 20 minutes off I-81, yet still peacefully rural nestled within farmland atop a hill in Luray, Virginia. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains with views all around and from our cabin rentals, our campground is close to the Luray Caverns, the famed Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, the Shenandoah River, and several Civil War sites. We offer both shady RV sites and open RV sites that can accommodate all sized RVs and trailers—we are big rig friendly! Each RV site includes a picnic table, fire ring, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and sewer. We have deluxe patio sites and deluxe tent sites too! Our campground is in the heart of all that Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley has to offer. Hiking opportunities abound as Luray is the closest town to the Thornton Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park, and is to the Skyline Drive, taking drivers along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains! The Luray Caverns, a national historic site, with it’s famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, are just a few minutes away, and tubing, canoeing, and white-water rafting adventure can be found at the nearby Shenandoah River. Museums and Civil War sites will feed your history-loving soul! Onsite we have a brand-new camp store! We also have a large pool and small pool, a gathering yurt for groups and an event pavilion, a playground, and a jumping pillow is in the works! We have two deluxe cabins and four deluxe yurts for more ways to appreciate the great outdoors with those additional creature comforts.

Very sweet campground on the backdrop of a pretty farm. I loved that they had a little general store, a dog park, and very clean bathrooms! On the flip side, I was surprised to see that the bathrooms only had one toilet.. I was expecting stalls to make it easier for multiple campers to use the facility at the same time. In the mornings we all get the same idea and a line begins to form. I also was NOT prepared for the early morning wake-up call from the sheep, who were very cute, but very chatty! The external light on the bathrooms was also VERY bright, which did obscure the stars for us, which was a bit of a bummer. But the grounds were clean, there was ample parking and it was definitely a family and pet-friendly space.

This was a great stay. Clean, private, huge sites, and safe! We wanted to jump in the pool but we had such a short time at the campground. 100% recommend! We would stay a minimum of three days next time.

Overall it was a really nice experience. It’s a cozy environment, so if you’re looking to “get away” this may not be the place. It’s family and pet friendly. The yurt is spacious and the images are accurate (no futon in our yurt though. The description mentioned stove but there wasn’t one…it wasn’t the end of the world, we explored the town less than 15mins away. The WiFi never worked at the yurt. It worked at the office, but the connection was lost as soon as you drove off, so don’t depend on it.

The “primitive “ tent sites are perfect for my Westfalia VW. Didn’t need it, but there’s electricity and water at the site and easy access to the washroom / shower / scrub sink. Nice folks at the office. The neighbor’s sheep and llama add to the great experience. The newborn lambs kept me entertained for the evening. This was my second stay and it won’t be my last.

We found this site by chance as a stop from Georgia to Maryland. It is so nice. The sites are clean and pretty good size and fairly level. It backs up to a cattle farm and is very peaceful. The bathrooms are very clean and pretty. Very pleased with our site.

We really enjoyed our stay at Spacious Skies campground in Luray Virginia. The campground is beautiful and the site was very nice. The guy that checked us in was very friendly and recommended places to visit while we were there. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

What a lovely time my husband and I had. The campground is so well taken care of. Jamie in the office was welcoming and so helpful. We so enjoyed our time. We used the laundry facility and it was great. Loved the sunsets, the cows in the pasture and the tranquility and space at Spacious Skies. We will definitely come back. The little town of Luray is sweet as well ! The Brookside is a must. 💕

Great customer service, smooth check in/out (even after hours), peaceful/relaxing campgrounds, and the yurt was clean and cozy! Only con would be that there was only one key to the yurt door which requires a key if outside. Could definitely use an additional key. Would definitely visit again and recommend!

WARNING: they have a very predatory cancelation policy (no refund for any part of the trip 30 days or less our and will not work with you). We booked a last minute stay with them, but our car broke down leaving us unable to make it. We asked if it would even be possible to get a partial refund for the other days on our trip. They did not, but rapidly cancelled and relisted our booking on HipCamp. Never received a human response just a few automated responses. We will not be utilizing them again price is high and no customer service.

All in all, our family's stay at Spacious Skies Shenandoah Views was great! The grounds and facilities seemed to be reasonably well kept. Our kiddos thoroughly enjoyed the playground and bounce/jump "pillow". I would definitely like to visit again for another more extended stay. For the bad (not necessarily bad, just... annoying): good luck getting in contact with anyone if you have questions before your stay. I was curious beforehand as to how big the tent sites were so that I knew what tent to bring. I messaged through hipcamp not long after I made the reservation, and called twice (once a week beforehand, and again a few days before). Never got any response whatsoever. It all worked out either way, but it was just a bit frustrating to not be able to contact anyone beforehand. My experiences at the actual site with the person working the front desk during our stay were both great, so I can't fault that side. Also, I personally think that the "primitive" tent sites are actually better than the Deluxe sites. Our particular site (T87, which isn't actually marked on their site map) was by far the best tent site of all, in my opinion. Every one of the deluxe sites are not level, and would not have been ideal for my family tent, so I'm glad we ended up where we did. Every tent site does have electric and water, so that was nice. All in all, I would definitely stay again, but just wished the staff communication beforehand was better.

Deluxe Pergola 20/30/50 AMP FHU Pull-Thru - 40ft
This campground was really well organized, from the clean and spacious bathrooms to the well-sized dog park! The set up was as described in their website and hipcamp listing and their map was very easy to follow. We arrived late so they put our map and info on the Late Arrival Box. The views from our site (deluxe pergola on the top left) was really nice. Keep in mind they are next door to a cow farm and when we were there midday they were spreading manure on the field so plan to be gone around that time. There was no issue or lingering smells at night. The camp is very close to Skyline Drive and a gas station. Getting our van’s LP filled was easy and the camp staff was very attentive. I would def return and recommend!
