Harmony Hut
Great place to stay! A bit of a walk between the hut and picnic area but not bad!! The AC in the hut is nice when camping on a hot weekend.

Harmony Hut is a cute little bungalow that has a few of the creature comforts of home like AC, ceiling fan, TV and Internet, while leaving you with the feeling of being in the woods and solitude. The outdoor hot shower is an awesome touch, as is the picnic shelter for cooking and eating. Be prepared to get a few steps in, but nothing difficult.

Harmony hut is the bomb. It’s a whole camp actually. First off, the host Mitch is great. He came and met us shortly after we arrived. He gave us the run down and scope of the property. He gave us his local recommendations after asking what our plans were. He hit on every one. Every place he told us about was great.
The who property is a really nice, but the camp that is associated with Harmony Hut is awesome for a family or just two. A pavilion with electric overlooks the back end of the camp. There is a bunk house, tree house and a Harmony hut all situated in close proximity. I’d never thought I’d say this but the outhouse was so nice. Deep natural outhouse that had no odor or funk. He has TP hand sanitizer, the whole setup is sweet. Mitch has covered (dry) firewood we burned in a fire ring every night. We had a blast….. and the hot shower on the back of the Harmony Hut washes away all the dirt and grunge accumulated for the Shenandoah National Park and make you feel human again. 10/10 do it again.

This spot was everything I was looking for to unwind and decompress. The space had everything I needed. The day I arrived was the day they were calling for some pretty aggressive storms. I got in just in time to lay down and watch the storm roll through. Once there was a break in the rain, I was able to cook myself a meal at the picnic shelter. At night, it was pitch black, which makes for a restful night's sleep for me! If it's not your thing, the cute string lights in the cabin have a dimmer on them! There is limited cell phone service, which I took full advantage of. Also, the outdoor shower was amazing! I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I look forward to coming back again very soon!

It is beautiful!! Clean and tidy and outdoor shower was very nice..
It would be great for a large family with the option to rent the Airbnb house.
I would stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Mitch was a great host! Our stay was awesome, weather was great and so was the location.
The “kitchen/picnic” area was a game changer. Having electricity and fans to help keep the bugs away while cooking & eating was a big help. All you need to bring along on your trip is your clothes, food & bedding, Mitch has supplied pretty much everything else you will need for your stay.

This is a great spot with lots of nice touches, especially in the outdoor kitchen. I did not end up using the bunkhouse because I was already set up for car camping. The views on the property are beautiful. Lots of opportunities to take in the wildlife. The sunset view from the privvy is actually spectacular! Host Mitch was very attentive and responsive.

My friend and I had a lovely weekend at Mitch's! We had plenty of privacy and felt safe. Even though it rained the whole time, we were able to stay dry in the bunk and in the picnic table area. We weren't able to build a fire (because of the rain), but there was plenty of wood, and many other awesome options for us to cook with. We met Mitch briefly where he gave some great advice for our hiking trip. Overall a great weekend, and would definitely return!

This is a great camping screened cabin with great convenience to wineries and the James River/Scottsville area. It was quiet, clean, and lots of trees, yet a short drive to everything we wanted to do. It got a bit cold with a fall cold front, but luckily we checked the forecast and came prepared.

Perfect little getaway. The treehouse fits a queen size air mattress and the covered shelter was great when a rain storm appeared. Yes it’s in the backyard but with all the leaves in the trees it felt very private. Would definitely recommend.

Mitch’s spot is GREAT. Highly recommend for couples, groups or families! He has a couple different options and it’s honestly perfect if you rent both for the bunkhouse and the little quarantine cabin project he just completed. The outdoor shower is SPIRITUAL. Showering under the stars smelling cedar wood was so freaking cool and maybe our favourite thing about this place. He’s crafty and built all these structures across his property. The picnic shelter has everything you could need, a grill, firewood, some potable water with a little sink, picnic area, folding chairs- he’s thought of everything. The bunk house is behind the picnic shelter to the left, two bunks with mattresses in there and it’s screened in to protect from bugs. He also built an A frame tree house that would be ultra cool to lay a cot in. Just like a really unique place. Recommend a car that has 4-wheel or All wheel drive as the road up to his place is all gravel and his house is on a hill so you need something with some extra push. Had a great time, he was an excellent host who shared some insider tips for hiking the area but let us do our thing and it was very private. Highly recommend.

Our group had a blast at Whisper Creek! The picnic pavilion was the perfect hang out spot- the 2 big fans kept the bugs away and kept us cool and the electrical outlets were nice because we were able to bring a coffee pot! Mitch went above and beyond as a host and showed us where to put in for tubing. He even let us borrow a few of his own tubes which we were super grateful for! Loved this location and hospitality was great!

My friend and I came and stayed here for 2 nights and had the best time. Mitch was super kind and helpful, brought us water and chatted briefly when we first arrived. The following day when we wanted to go tubing, he helped us load up everything into his truck and drove us to the river, set up our chairs so that we would know where to stop, then dropped us off to float, and came back later to pick us up. Totally exceeded our expectations! The campsite itself was fully stocked with firewood, there was also a propane and charcoal grill for cooking. It also has an outhouse and an amazing, newly built outdoor shower. The bunkhouse is fully screened in, so we didn’t have a big problem with bugs during the night, and the door locks on the inside which helps you feel more secure. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Great space to get away and social distance. The bunk house is quite small with twin bunk beds and just enough room for our baby's pack & play. Its quite a ways from the picnic area though which we hadn't expected. The covered picnic area has a sink, picnic table, counters, and propane grill & burner to heat water and is a great space to hang out. The outhouse is further down a path in the opposite direction. The shower is gone but we were fine without it as there is a hose to get more water up at the house if needed. Mitch was very friendly and provided answered questions on things to do in the area.

What a great place! While the sleeping spots were further apart than we thought, the center kitchen area was spacious, clean and had all kind of extras that I didn’t expected, like fans, outlets and even a sink that the host provided potable water for. Mitch was able to show us his river spot and the kids had a great time catching water bugs and floating down from upriver. While we weren’t able to stay the 2nd night due to health reasons, I would absolutely return. ProTip, go find Gwen at the Deli and get lunch!

Super rad site..you can tell Mitch has put lots of attention and care into his project. He's actually working on another little cabin on the site so were excited to be able to possibly bring more people the next time. He was responsive and addressed all our questions and everything was as expected. Our pup looooved running all around (obviously watch out for ticks - our doggo and friend were riddled with them but we were expecting that). We followed his tip to pick up sandwiches at the howardsville general store/deli after and it was just what we needed before our hike. Mitch is about 45 min away from some pretty cool hikes and waterfalls at the washington jefferson national forest so we headed there after our stay. My only complaint is not having more time to stay there. Cant wait for next time!

Great host, site, location, and overall experience. Exceptionally tranquil site at night. Wide range of outdoor options & access to variety of river activities (fishing, hiking, canoeing, etc.). Highly recommend and we plan to return.

My husband and I rented this for a little mountain getaway with our 7 year old daughter and dog Norman. Unfortunately, this hipcamp rental was not what we were expecting. We booked for 2 nights but only ended up staying one night. First I will start with the pros of the site....
- very friendly host
- great little cabin and tree house
- outhouse on site
Cons....
- the campsite is literally 80 yards from the hosts house. He was having a get together the night we arrived and there was loud music playing and we could hear all of his guest talking outside.
- the fire pit is not located near the cabins
- the outhouse is not conveniently located to the cabins, not something that you could walk to in the pitch black of the night
-not private
With all that being said, we felt as if we were camping in someones back yard. There wasn't much, if any privacy. We are normally backpackers and tent campers but with the cooler temperatures in March we decided to give this a try. We will definitely be going back to backpacking for our next adventure.

Camping at Mitch's place was fantastic. The bed and shelter were really comfortable and the main camping area had everything we needed. We had an amazing weekend and would definitely recommend to others!

Whisper Creek Glamping!
Our stay at Whisper Creek was great! Mitch was very helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. The accommodations were fun and cozy. The kitchen/hang out area included lounge chairs, a big table, plenty of counter space for cooking, and festive lights. It was a really fun experience and I would definitely go back!
