The bathrooms were clean and nice but there is a train that goes directly behind the camp and is just a few feet from all the sites. We got woken up twice from trains. Would not come back.

It was a very good experience for our first hip camp experience. The bed was super comfortable. The temperature control air circulation in the cabin was great. The bathroom and showers were really clean and nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at Anvil Campground. The place was very well planned out, neat and tidy. The host was a great source of very helpful information about how to navigate between the local attractions. The bus stop at the campground provides great service to Williamsburg.

Simple family friendly and family run campground with all the needed resources.
We don’t use any of the resources of the full fledged resort campgrounds. But Busch Gardens is just a few miles away if that is what you want.
We stayed two extra days to better explore Colonial Williamsburg and the other historical sites - our main goals for this stay.

Such a well-maintained campground! The staff were super friendly and I just kept being so impressed by how clean everything was. Every single time I went into the bathroom, day or night, it looked as if it had just been wiped down. The pool was nicely warm and relaxing, and even though I didn't travel with kids, I think it's great that they had a playground and all kinds of different activities for them. I don't usually look for electric hook up when I travel, but this was a nice luxury this time. Would definitely stay here again!

Anvil is a smaller but very friendly campground that had everything we needed. The site was level and the hookups were easy to manage. Though we didn’t get a chance to use the bathrooms they looked really nice. It’s also close to all the attractions in Williamsburg and really enjoyed taking our dogs to walk the colonial area. We’d stay here again for sure! (Yes, there’s a train that’s really close but it didn’t put a damper on our fun)

Overall was a wonderplace and cute little playground/rec room. But our tent area was right next to the train tracks, and multiple times a night it sounded like the train was literally driving through our tent. Got no sleep obviously. I wouldn’t have mind as much if the website mentioned it AT ALL. But maybe I’m just blind. They called me the day I booked and welcomed me. Super friendly workers and a great place overall just sucked having a loud blaring train drive right next to our tent multiple times a night

Well I honestly didn’t stay because we had issues with our camper. I am new to camping and didn’t think I could back in with only my daughter with me. We had a terrible time getting it loaded and arrived after dark. I don’t see well. Someone had also parked their truck very close and at an angle to our spot (which was actually pretty big!) anyways I circled back around but the opening in that direction and from that angle meant I clipped their fence post. The fence tumbled down and I decided if I couldn’t drive straight, I definitely couldn’t back into the spot. So we left. The staff were really nice and they were reasonable with the repairs. Family liked the area. So once I figure out how to drive, we will come back.

I really enjoyed this site. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The pool was fantastic for the hot weather. The arcade was also a nice place to relax and play billiards in. The staff members were professional and friendly. The history makes it a really cool site and it is a convenient drive to local attractions.
