Welcome to the Dome on Javelina Hill, an off-grid glamping experience on 40 wild acres located 15 miles from Big Bend National Park and 12 miles from Terlingua. Hand-built with purpose and soul, this stay is for travelers seeking more than a place to sleep. Off-grid by design, this stay trades modern luxuries for stars, silence, and the raw beauty of the desert. If you’re craving adventure, connection, and the true Big Bend experience, you’ve found it.Welcome to the Dome on Javelina Hill; an off-grid glamping stay on 40 wild acres, just 15 miles from Big Bend National Park and 12 miles from Terlingua. Hand-built with purpose, this is for travelers seeking adventure, silence, and a true desert experience, not modern luxury. This is much closer to a camping experience without having to bring camping equipment; bring your sleeping bag, food & potable water, towels, toiletries, and a cooler and you are all set. Inside the dome, four Japanese-style futons let you customize your sleeping setup. Solar-powered lamps provide light at night, and a solar power bank supports Starlink internet, device charging, and an electric kettle. Battery-powered fans offer airflow, but there is no Air Conditioning. Outside, you’ll find a simple kitchen, propane grill and stove, covered picnic areas, and a private shower area using sun-heated shower bags filled from a non-potable water tank. We rent a porta potty from a local vendor that also services it regularly. What’s included: * Solar lighting + power bank (Starlink, charging, kettle) * Propane heater, grill, and stove (fuel provided) * Coffee, tea, cookware, utensils * Non-potable water for washing/showering * Shower bags + private shower area * 4 futons for sleeping What to bring: * Bedding or sleeping bags (Recommend sleeping bags) * Drinking water & food * Towels & personal items * Cooler for perishables This is a true off-grid stay. No running water, no A/C, no cleaning service—guests tidy up before checkout; we are too remote to have access to a cleaner. Explore all 40 acres of rugged desert, with sweeping views and some of the darkest night skies in the world. Access: 2 miles down a rocky dirt road. Passable by sedan in dry conditions, but high-clearance vehicles are recommended. During heavy rain, the road may become impassable. If you’re looking for silence, stars, and a raw Big Bend experience; Javelina Hill is calling. I you are looking for a conventional stay with A/C, grid power, and running water; this is not the experience we offer.
